Shane Lowry met his biggest fan in a brilliant moment

Shane Lowry was hailed a ‘gentleman’ after producing a ‘great moment’ on Friday night’s Late Late Show on RTE.
One week on from Toy Show, the golf star sat down with Patrick Kielty to reflect on his Ryder Cup heroics, the abuse himself and Rory McIlroy faced at the tournament and the importance of family.
During the Toy Show, Lowry appeared via video link to surprise young golf fan Declan Ryan and invited him to next year’s Irish Open. He also gave him a signed Ryder Cup flag. In a heartwarming moment on Friday’s show, the world number 27 was joined by Declan in the studio to play a game of ‘pitch and potty’.
Host Patrick Kielty teamed up with singer Tom Grennan, with Lowry partnering Declan. “Shane needs somebody to play with, there’s only one man really,” said Patrick, as Shane asked: “Is it Declan?”
The Cork youngster was met with huge applause as he walked into the studio and was delighted to meet Lowry – who looked equally as happy to see him.
Declan asked the Ryder Cup hero: “Thank you for the signed flag and to be the world’s greatest golfer and beat Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 majors, what advice would you give me?”
Lowry brilliantly replied: “A couple of things; practice hard, never stop enjoying it and follow your dreams.”

Many viewers took to social media to hail the 2019 Open champion. One said: “What a beautiful person Shane Lowry. A credit to his sport & Ireland.”
Another commented: “What a gentleman Shane Lowry is and Declan is wonderful, a real smiler.”
Someone else wrote: “What a great moment for that little boy ..those are the memories that he will carry forever ..Good man Shane.”

“No fan of golf by any means but Shane Lowry is a thoroughly likable guy,” read one other comment.
