Well, there’s a great event taking place this coming Tuesday in Arizona. Joel Damon and his family foundation will host Joel Jam, which will benefit and support families facing cancer as well as children in need. Those who reserve a spot in the event will have the opportunity to play golf with a PGA professional or celebrity. So, with that, I’m so pleased to welcome Joel into Golf Central. Joel, really good to see you. Let’s just discuss Joel Jam. Uh, what a cool event. just tell us a little bit more about it and and why you wanted to host it. Yeah, Joel Jam, we’re kicking off our first annual golf event uh at Mesa Country Club uh next week, December 16th. So, super excited about it. It’s something my wife and I have worked hard on for a few years. Uh my management team, Range Sports, thank you guys for all your hard work. There’s a lot that goes into this. Um maybe had we known kind of what undertaking this is, uh we would have maybe held off another year and grown it even more. But we’re super excited about it. Um have a lot of my my partners involved and just going to be a great day. Uh we’re going to raise some money for for the Damon Family Foundation and um yeah, I’m just really really looking forward to it. Well, Joel, I’m sure most of our audience are familiar with your story, but you of course tragically lost your mom to cancer when you were just 16. You survived your own battle with the disease in 20 when you were just 23. What does it mean to you to be in a position now to support others with their fight against cancer? Yeah, the game of golf has given me so much more than I could ever dream of and um what an opportunity to to be able to give back through the game of golf. Um I’ve done more in the game than I ever dreamed of and the game’s given me more and my my wife and my family. So, uh to develop friendships and uh you know, partnerships along the way and to be able to to put this together and to help you know families that are affected by cancer. um it’s you know obviously near and dear to my heart but also um you know to to make an impact on other people’s families and uh you know to help them through probably you know the most difficult part of their life and what they’re going through. Uh to be able to help them directly um see them uh you know kind of walk them through the path and you know help them financially on the back end is is something that we’re we’re really happy to do. It’s amazing, Joel, that you’re using your platform in this way and and I’m sure through your charity, you’ve come across so many others who are going through what you’ve been through. When you do meet those families, what kind of motivation and encouragement do you try to offer them? Yeah, I think the number one thing is just hope. Um, you know, having been through what I’ve been through, um, and coming out on the other side and and like you said, being a successful tour player for for many years, um, and having this life post cancer, I think is is really important. Uh but also just kind of being there for them and um you know sometimes you got to hold their hand, sometimes you got to hug, you got to cry with them as well. You got to do kind of all those things, but uh just to be in this position is something I never really dreamed of and to to be able to have this opportunity is is really special for us. It’s amazing how life works sometimes. Tell us a little bit more about Joel Jam. Uh who you can expect to see teeing up, which friends of yours are going to be there. Yeah, very fortunate, like I said, through many years of playing golf and being around the the game at the highest level. Have a lot of great friends now. Um, I think, you know, we have some Hall of Famers. We have, uh, Brian Erlacer from the NFL coming out. Um, Michael Phelps, uh, big-time golfer here in Scottsdale is going to come hang out. We have Windham Clark, major champion, numerous other PJ tour players. We have Anna Norquist, uh, Soloulheim Cup captain, coming up next year. Uh, so just super excited. We have many more uh many fun guys as well. Colton Nost and Drew SE are going to be on the microphone most of the day. Uh they’ll be helping out with the auction the evening as well. So uh just super excited to kind of get everyone under, you know, on the same golf course and under one building for for a great cause. Yeah, it sounds awesome. And Joel, for people who won’t be in Arizona next week, just on on a broad scale, how can people get involved in helping those affected by cancer and other charities? Yeah. Um so we just launched our website damonfamilyfoundation.org. org. Uh you can go there, you can check it out, you can donate, you can see what our mission is about, uh the causes that we’re serving. Um and you can be involved and hopefully we’re going to grow this bigger and better next year. Uh hopefully open it up to more teams as well. And that would be a great way. Um we’re also very very lucky to um Walter Station Brewery here in Phoenix is launching a Joel Jam Chandandy. So it’s a beer that is uh in collaboration with them. It’s coming out. They’re going to have a QR code on the beer. So you can donate through that as well if you’re in the Phoenix area. And hopefully it’ll be a bigger launch starting next year as well. We trust that you have tried and tasted that and I’m sure it is delicious. Joel, just perfect for the golf course. Yes. Just finally, you’re now a dad of two amongst all of this busyness that you’ve got going on. How is how is life of uh two young boys? Yeah, I’m looking at the camera. I got a little extra gray here on the chin. That is uh So, we have a almost month old uh baby at home and then almost three-year-old. So, uh it’s a great time of the holidays. There’s a lot of family and friends around for a little extra help. Um we’re we’re really enjoying this new phase. It’s a nice time of the year to to have time off from the game of golf and to be able to spend time with the family and help Lawn out as much as I can. Um you know, trying to get up in the middle of night as much as I can and and you know, just trying to be a good a good support system on that side. So, uh a lot of Christmas lights this time of year and and a lot of fun and uh it’s just super special to have another healthy, happy little boy. And uh mom’s doing great as well. Yeah. Well, awesome to hear. And I think what you mean, Joel, is it’s utter carnage. Uh I know I know the feeling. Well, yes, it is. That’s exactly right. Um thank you so much for joining us and we hope Joel Jam is an absolute hit next week. I’m sure it will be. And thanks so much for your time. Cheers. Thank you guys. Appreciate it.
