NASHVILLE — Tennessee State golf head coach Parrish McGrath signed five student-athletes over the weekend, adding key pieces to the team.
The Tigers brought in four men and one woman as they continue to build depth and versatility across the roster.
The women’s team will be adding Delilah Dean (5’5) from Pegram, Tenn. McGrath recalled his first time watching Dean compete and was impressed by her composure under extreme conditions.
“My first experience watching Delilah play was over the summer on a day when the ‘feels like’ temperature was over 100 degrees,” McGrath said. “All the other players showed signs of fatigue, but Delilah just kept going about her business, not letting the heat get the best of her.”
On the men’s side, the Tigers have signed Justin Marcus (6’0) from Glenmoore, Pa.; Greyson Koch (6’2) from White House, Tenn.; Mason Hunter (6’2) and Caden Powell (6’3) both from Springfield, Tenn.
While the class is quite young, Koch, Hunter, and Powell have been playing together for four years, which will bring a sense of familiarity to the Tigers as they lost five to graduation.
“Losing five seniors this year, I have to make sure the culture coming in will be compatible with what we have now,” McGrath said. “Our three signees from Middle Tennessee — Greyson, Caden and Mason — have all played together and competed against one another for years. Once it started to come together, they were all excited about the prospect of playing on the same team. Having a familiarity with one another is a great start since there will be more new players than current ones when we start up in Fall ’26.”
The signing class features true freshmen from two states as the Tigers continue to build their 2026-27 recruiting class during the February signing period.
“From the first time I spoke with Justin and then with his parents I knew he would be a great addition to the squad in regard to competitiveness, work ethic and eagerness to be on a team,” McGrath said.
