Today we have a special guest on the podcast known on Instagram as Gabby Golf Girl with over 1 million followers. How are you doing today? Welcome to the show. Thank you for having me. I’m so excited. I I don’t do many podcasts, so this is like one of my first that I do on somebody else’s channel. I’m really excited to be here. Love it. Thank you for coming. Thanks for the intro also. Of course. Of course. I never seen We got to get some of the videos we got to put up. Yeah, for sure. Listen, I I thought it was fake. I did too. I got to be honest with you. In the beginning when I first started following and seeing I was like this is insane. Well I would love to be able to figure out how to get that Sora AI but I don’t know how to do it. Um but well people are jealous so they’re going to say oh that’s not real. She’s really not doing that. But she does shots I ain’t never seen them. When do you see these videos? It’s kind of like second nature for me because I’ve always been doing it. Like I always have played uh junior top competitive golf since I was little. I picked up a golf club at two years old and I would get so bored of practice that I would just go out at like five, six years old and I’d be like, I’m bored on the range. I’m going to start doing trick shots. I’d start messing around, messing around. And other kids are like, why aren’t you practicing? And I’m like, because I’m bored and I need to do something that like stimulates me. Yeah. So, I just started doing the trick shots and I would see on social media before I was really I mean, I was on social media, but I didn’t have a lot any followers, probably 800 followers. And I would be like, I could do what they’re doing better. And I was probably 10 years old, started to do trick shots, kind of faded out, and I was always had this kind of talent that I could do. So I post now and I love it. God bless you. Thank you so much. Wait till you see these shots. Did you start golfing at a young age because that’s what you wanted to do? Is that you just fell in love with golf or, you know, you just seen a golf club, you just wanted to do it? So my dad and my mom played golf before I was born. Okay. They weren’t very They weren’t terrible actually. Wow. Um, they weren’t very good. They were not good. Um, poor dad sitting over here. Yeah. Poor guy. He’s like, “Yeah, but he has to be a golfer if you do golf.” Yeah, of course. Yeah. He once I was born, they didn’t really play anymore. And they thought like, “What’s a good sport? What’s a cute thing we could get her into?” So, for my second birthday, they got me a pink set of golf clubs that were like too heavy for me. Um, they were just they were big, they were bulky, they were bigger than me. And I loved it. And I don’t think I love the sport, but my parents were always with me. And I just love being with my parents. So they would take me to the range or I would play outside and I just love to be around them. As I got older, when I was like three, four, five years old, my dad would take me to the range. And I was weird. I tell this story all the time, but I was weirdly obsessed with money as a kid. Okay? I I was always obsessed with money, quarters, anything I could find. So my dad would bribe me basically. He’d go to the range and he would say, “Okay, if you hit three shots in a row, good. I’ll give you a quarter.” And it’ll come out with like $6 or seven dollars. And at 4 years old, that was a lot for me. Yeah. So, I just wanted to be around them and make money. And that was literally the only force that made me want to play golf. That’s amazing. I actually love the sport yet. Yeah. I grew to love the sport after that. Did you play in grade school? Did you play in high school? Like, how’d that go? Were you on a team? Yes. So, I was I played competitive tournaments starting at 5 years old through US kids and stuff like that, which I’m sure people have heard of. Went to the World Championships at six and then when I was in seven years old, I was like fourth in the world. um for my seven and under girls and I was always like top competitive junior golfer. Um and then I played high school golf in sixth grade. Um we made it to states. Wait, wait, so you were in sixth grade playing high school golf? I would have played in fifth grade. That’s amazing. I would have played sixth grade, but I think you can only play for seven six or seven six or seven years. And um I think so there’s like this rule on that. So I was going to play in fifth grade, but they wanted to save me for the senior year. So they were like, “Legally, you can only play in sixth grade.” Fine. So I played sixth grade. We made it to states. Then I switched schools and went to a school with no middle school. Everybody wanted to be played for their high school and I just didn’t play that year. Then in eighth grade, I was uh obviously we I started my whole, you know, high school career because I I was like one of the top players in the state. Yeah. And when I was in eighth grade, my eighth tournament that I played, I basically uh I broke the school record for boys and girls at the school that I was at, which is called uh the Benjamin school. What’ you shoot? Uh 64. Eight under. And I eight under. I can’t shoot 120. I mean, really? Eight under. We’ll get you under. That’s unbelievable. Um I basically it it was a funny story. I actually played my range session that morning. We had like a 7 am tea time and I got to skip school that day and I was so excited and I went on the range and genuinely I think I missed the golf ball that day. Like on the range I was hitting so bad I looked turned to my mom I said it’s going to be the worst day ever and I get up shot my best round ever. Boys and girls broke school record. Um I think the school’s been there for like 80 years and all the top players kids go there. So you know what’s harding? I mean, cuz my friend Tony Morirana Morirano, Olivia’s daughter, she got home. You know, Olivia, of course I do. Yeah. Yeah. We We played golf. She She played And she was She was homeschooled. Yeah. She had a golf every day. Seven days a week. Yep. And you got to be listen, you know, like my my daughter Sophia, she was a gymnast every day. Seven days a week. You homeschooled? Yeah. But they, you know, you get to an age 15, six, they want to start going to dances. They want to they want to hang out with their friends and they both quit. Yeah. That’s funny. So that’s funny. Olivia and I I met Olivia. I was probably in sixth grade and she was the one that told me she was like I was walking down the fairway once in a tournament with her and she was online school and I said I really want to do home school. And she’s like just do it. And I was like okay. She’s a little bit older than me and and I was like you know I’m going to do it. So when I went into ninth grade, I was team captain, whatever. And um I ended up leaving school because of the social media. And then I was like, you know what? I’m going to do home school. Finally, I’m going to That’s what you have to do. Yeah. Good. I went to graduation. She She’s in Alabama now. Yeah. First year Alabama. Yeah. Roll tie. Yeah. But she gave she gave golf up and she was good. That’s right. I heard that. She was left lefty. Yeah, I remember that. It’s the preparation it can bring. What’s the preparation like? They got to hit ball. You got to play every day. Every day. I got a guy told me, “You got to see my doctor.” And one guy’s a doctor, one guy’s a lawyer. He said, “They’re the best lawyers and doctors you ever seen. The guys are too handicapped.” I said, “Well, if he’s a too handicapped, he’s got to stink as a doctor and a lawyer.” Cuz you got to You got to play every day. You got to play every day. True. He must be a horrible. Seriously, it’s true. What did you go through in preparation to get where you’re at today? So I when I was younger, my dad like over the weekend, we would spend eight, nine hours at the golf course all day long, just me and him. Um, and I was kind of the kid where my dad would just like he would push me and the fact would just be like, “Okay, practice.” And I would be like, “Okay, whatever you say.” Like just I always followed what my dad said. So because I knew he had the best interest for in me and I also loved being around him. So I did not care about the work. I would just do it. I would just shut up and do it. And I the drive of the golf like I love golf but it wasn’t even necessarily that I just wanted to get better at something that was mine. And so I would practice eight nine hours um during when I was in fourth fifth grade when I was coming down to Florida when I lived in New York. We would come down and I would spend like two weeks and just practice every single day and try and get in the most time and play tournaments in Florida, play with the best, then go back up, go to school, then you know simulate a lot of travel. Oh my gosh. When I was younger, it was simulators, it was um cold, and then I would come down here and then I practice every single day. Um it’s only now since I started the social media that I get a little bit more time. And for example, I woke up this morning, I played I played like nine holes at 7:30, you know, and I get that done so I’m out of the way and I can do the rest of the day working for social media. I actually played well. I my You know what’s funny? We do this like kind of drill where I play six holes. I got to get six pars in a row and a birdie. Okay. So, six pars in a row and then I have to birdie after that. Doesn’t matter how many holes it takes me. I can break the streak then. Um but I this time I got it first six holes in the birdie. So Oh wow. So you only went seven holes. Yeah. Yeah. Only seven holes this morning. They got to pray. Listen, I used to watch a living. They used to take putting lessons for hours. Oh yeah. Just put like we go to the Nobody putts. Everybody goes to the range. They hit the driver. You don’t see you see two couple people putting. Yeah. Yeah. I feel like everybody goes to the range, they go right hit their driver, their irons, their wedges. You never really see that many people out there putting. Well, John Dailyaly said the worst thing and how Tiger Woods learned when they’re they were kids, they learned putting first, then then chipping, then the irons, then the driver, then driver last. Everybody does it the other opposite way. Yeah. Well, also like I think um when when when I was younger, it was all about speed, like how quickly can I hit the hit the ball. Um but now I mean short game is really important. Putting is everybody always says that like putting is super important. I think for me actually I would disagree in my game just because I think it’s so much more important to be able to hit greens. If you can hit greens in regulation, you can get that approach shot right next to hole. You’re not going to three putt from eight feet. Yeah. You know what I’m saying? Like so if you can get if you can stick your irons close, that to me is like Well, they said I read an article last week, 82% of your scoring comes from 100 yards and then Yeah. It’s the percentages they have in golf. It’s so hard. It really is so hard and it’s a great sport. Did dad get any better since you got better? No. Oh, all right. Okay. The only thing I have to say No. The only thing I have to say though, he’s played eight rounds in the past 10 years. Okay. Okay. Eight full rounds of golf. The last one that he played one hole one through 18 cuz every other time he just goes out and I’m like he doesn’t even play a hole. Like he just picks up. And he shot 84. Beautiful on a 152 slope golf course. So really difficult. Yeah. And I was like, “What?” And he’s like, “Just the best putter you’ll ever see, the best um short game you’ll ever see. Cannot hit a driver to save his life.” Um it’s so bad. And then he’ll hit like irons off. Yeah. That’s great. He’s not getting better, but he’s And you just keep getting better. Yeah. He’s my coach, though, which is great. Which is great. As a as a woman and you’re in the social media, you’re a social media influencer at this point. What was the difficult challenges that you faced when you came on social media? A lot. I think I always looked at my I always looked at myself and just be like women are always like, “Oh, you know, we don’t get paid as much. We don’t get this.” And I would be like, “I don’t understand. Like, I don’t get it. Just work harder.” I had that ignorant mentality because I was probably 14, 13 years old. As soon as I got into the space, I realized first of all in golf, they don’t treat the younger age well at all because they just don’t think that we’re capable. Okay. And then women in business, I have never been more of I guess I don’t know if feminist is the right word, but I just have to say like we don’t get what everybody else gets. You can have four or five times the views. I actually have probably the most views of anybody in the golf world, period. A month. I I’m getting like 150 million views a month. God bless you. And thank you. That’s that’s that’s bizarre. It’s crazy. And but you they don’t they they will not pay women as much because it’s just it’s just fact. And I don’t I don’t understand it. And I think it would be kind of the opposite because I you people rather watch a girl on camera than see a guy out there swinging and sweating and everything else. And for you not to get that opportunity is crazy. Yeah. Because clearly by the numbers we see it. They want to watch more. But it’s just the way that the golf world works specifically and the golf world’s really slow in this. But also just the world in general. They just don’t they don’t make the time of day for women. I don’t I don’t know if it’s because they don’t think that they’re worth it as much or I I have no idea what it is. I just could tell you that the fact is I don’t want to make assumptions, but the fact is is that we just don’t get nearly as much. It’s harder. The struggles that we face are so much harder because guys don’t want to like sometimes do stuff. Especially me when I was like 16, I went through a really hard time of trying to get collabs because no guy would take a chance on me in the golf space or in any space because they were like, “She’s 16. It doesn’t really do us any good even though the views are there because she’s 16. She’s a girl and it’s going to make me look bad at 28 to go play with her and I don’t understand that. But I guess I could see how it could, you know, you’re probably better than him. That Yeah. I mean, that could be the only thing. Yeah. If you beat want to get beat, they don’t want to get beat. And it’s it’s most of the time I would beat them so they would stop doing stuff with me. That’s what Caitlyn Clark tried to do with the WNBA. try and get more notice, trying to get people paid more because I mean my personal opinion, nobody really talked about the WNBA in the last five years until this girl and Angela Reese came along. You know, both of them I’d rather watch them than than the men. Me too. I swear to God. I would love to go to to a WNBA game with either of them. But that that’s but that’s the truth is like the personality. We don’t get to see women’s personality in sports. We just don’t. Like when you look at the LPJ and this is something I’m passionate about is like you look at Caitlyn Clark, people are watching because they know her as a person. Absolutely. Like people people like me are watching because and like just ignorantly I she’s a Taylor Swift fan. I’m a Taylor Swift fan. I love what she stands for as a woman who’s in sports. You know what I’m saying? She’s like, “Yeah, yeah, you can be a a feminine girl and still be a killer on the basketball court.” I think that’s amazing. That’s what I stand for. And like you don’t have to show yourself just to get the views. And you also don’t have to be the complete opposite. You know what I’m saying? You can be what you want to be out there. And for the LPGA and for women’s sports, they just don’t show their personality because I don’t know if it’s the the sports chokeolding them and feeling like they can’t or if it’s just they don’t have a person. I don’t know what it is, but we definitely don’t get to see enough. Yeah, this country is crazy. They want guys to play with girls, transgenders in college, girls guys playing with girls in basketball. It’s just different. That’s that that’s the sick part. It’s just it’s just a whole different I’m surprised they ain’t got transgenders in golf. It could happen. You never know what could happen soon. No, it’s really crazy. What about brand deals? How did you discover your first brand deals? How did you start collabing with people after you got bigger cuz once you get 700,000 followers, now everybody’s coming to you. So, it it changes. Yes, you’re right. It does change. So, at the beginning when I was first doing it, like, and I’ll I’ll get into the story of how I actually, you know, uh, started social media, but when I first did it, the first three months, I didn’t have any like paid anything um, deals. I would just like they would just send me clothes or whatever, and I was all excited about that. So, um, but when I got over like the 100,000 mark, um, when I think I was at like or 190,000 uh, followers, I Tailor Made had reached out to me and I’d always played Tailor Made Clubs at that time. Um I they reached out and they wanted to do a partnership and I think that was my first deal and that was a big deal for me because I liked the brand and and then it just evolved. It evolved now. Now I’m with Callaway and I’m so grateful for them and I love them. Uh people there are just so amazing. So it it does evolve. You go through the different periods and obviously you harder you work more views you get. Obviously they’re going to pay more. Um, but you know, it’s good for me now because I have my own little business and I love what I do. Yeah. Yeah. It’s beautiful. God bless you. Thank you. That’s great. It’s very proud. Yeah, you should. We’re live here at Buchi’s Jewelry and Design located in Kaha Hawk in PA. Make sure you come check them out before the holiday season, after the holiday season. Don’t forget they also do Cash for Gold here. If you want anything done with your old jewelry, they can customize it just for you. We know jewelry sentimental, we know you want to keep it, you maybe you want to do a nice new design, they could take care of it all for you. When you come in, tell them little snuff sent you when you have your own little business. Now, just touch on that for other women out there just so you could explain to them what they need to do like you did. Well, so it’s in very intricate, but the thing is is that I had obviously I have my dad um and he helps me so much and I’m so grateful for that. But I think also like I took a lot of advice from my parents or my grandparents. Um everybody was trying to give me advice and you’d look to family because they have your best interest. Yeah. Um but I think you find like what it is that you actually do. What I do is post content, create content. Um not give up on posting content. I posted every single day for four years. Um, and when I do that, that’s my lane. Then the other the brands and everything else will come. So, focus on the product first. You know what I’m saying? Like that’s what that’s what you do. That’s what people want to watch you for. Like there’s got to be a reason why pe why why people watch you. I always say like if you take away the golf, why are people watching you at the beginning? If you take away the social media, nobody’s watching you. So, there needs to be both. And that’s the product that I’m putting out there. So, at the beginning, I struggled with this because I was like, “Everybody just wants to see me play golf. Like, they don’t care about me.” What when I was 14, okay? And I didn’t realize like that is what they’re watching for. Like, they want to see a competitive golf, a really good golfer. Yeah. And I’ve obviously learned that more and more, but like when you’re obviously I was pretty mature for a 15, 14y old girl, but obviously I’m still like, you know, learning. Yeah, I’m still learning. We’ve been posting every day, three videos a day for three years consistently. We try and do around the same time. You know, sometimes life gets in the way, so it’s a little hard. But if you’re consistent, I find that people every day go to their phone at the same time every day and say, “Wow, Joey Marino’s posting right now.” Like they know it just registers in their mind. I went to a tournament one time with Olivia. She played against Tiger Wood’s son, Charlie. Yeah, it was where was it? It was probably South Florida PGA. Was the Breakers? I don’t know where we probably Yeah, he was little. Like he was I think it was like 10 10. She beat him too. Yeah. Great. He’s good though. Now he’s he’s good. Yeah. So, I mean, it’s it’s it’s crazy with golf. It’s just there’s a lot of things, but it’s, you know, Who is your favorite golfer watching growing up? Um, I never really had one because I know all of them. Um, especially with social media now. I know all of them. And I don’t want to like say that I don’t look up to anyone. I just I just like I don’t freak I don’t know. I I wouldn’t say anyone. I mean, the thing is people that I like that I’ve met that are great are John Rom. Um, Xander Schoffley is amazing. Um, Gino is amazing. She’s the number one women’s golfer. Other than that, like those are the people that I’ve met that are I I just love. Yeah. They’re just great. Um, so if if I saw them in a tournament, I’d be rooting for them. Yeah, of course. Nice. Yeah. like the Shambo when you see him got up to the T- box and it just I it’s crazy to me like sometimes when I look at this guy and he’s driving the ball 460 yards I think that is bizarre. Do you think that that’s crazy? No, it’s actually insane. I remember I met him when I was uh 10, nine or 10 years old. Um and this was before the bulk I think. Yeah, it was before the bulk. So he he would hit uh balls in the range and and I was like man and then I saw him like a year later when he started hitting balls of the range at my club and he was just massive massive and I was like what? Like how do you do that in a year? Um so yeah it is crazy. It’s crazy. It’s pretty wild. It really is. I’ve seen one of your videos you hit the bull the driver at 280 270. No no I I I hit it like 2 235. I wish I I’m not I’m not gonna lie about my I wish it was a little bit faster, but I you know the one video is crazy that they’re throwing the balls at her and she said, “Yeah, that’s that’s the sickest video I ever seen.” It really And then when you get the ball on your club like this, you throw it right in like just to have the concentration for that ball to be on there and steady. A lot of practice. It’s a lot. Yeah, a lot of practice. I I there’s a lot of hand eye coordination that I’ve worked on. Um, you know, it’s funny. Like I could pick up a soccer ball and I could juggle. I could pick up a basketball and I could spin on my finger. Like that stuff I can I’m pretty good at. Yeah. Um, so I think that’s just hand eye coordination that I just always had a golf ball up and bounce like the hockey players do with a stick. Yeah, they could do the same thing with a p. What’s next for you? What are you How are you looking to grow this brand? What are you looking to do next? a lot of things that I can’t really talk about yet, but 2026 is going to be a big year and I’m really excited for it. We’ve got a lot of different business ventures that we’re going to try and expand it a little bit beyond Gabby Golf Girl. Um, we’ve already like brought in so much more lifestyle content. Um, and people love it, which is a good thing because I know a lot of golf influencers, especially in golf, they’ll try and like do lifestyle content. They’ll try and like show their personality and they’re like, “No, stick to golf.” Like stick to golf. But I think what’s so incredible about the audience that watches me and what I love is like obviously I’m 18. So they’ve grown with me since I’m 14 and so they are genuinely interested in like what’s going on in my life as well because otherwise they could just go follow somebody who’s 26, you know. Um I’m the only one. So, they’re actually I’m the only junior golfer that’s doing golf content really um specifically and that they’re following the journey of and that have been follow they’ve followed since I’m 14. Yeah. Are going to grow with you as you grow. They’re growing. Your fan base is growing. She’s only 18. She talks. She’s she’s brilliant. Yeah. The way she No, seriously. I mean, thank you. Yeah. You have a big career. He’s I barely graduated, but it’s okay. Don’t worry about it. No, you’re dumb at school, right? So, okay. So, technically I’m a senior, but I finished all my work this year. So, Wow. Good. I still have to graduate, but yeah. You’re going to go to college or We’ll see. Right now, I have offers from You go to any college? From the top three for women’s golf. Um, who are the top three for women’s golf? Uh, well, I think Stanford and it’s University of Southern uh of South Carolina and one other school and I clearly it’s not that one because I can’t remember what it is, but um so yeah. So, I am going to see what happens. I love the team that offered me the spot. I love the girls. I love the coach. Um, the only thing that it would be so hard is like, how do I bring the social media to them because it’s so much more work than people realize. Like, I have a whole team that’s now counting on me, employees and stuff like that can’t just and brands can’t just be like, “Hey, I’ve got Callaway and they need me so and so amount of times a year and I need to go to California next week and sorry team, I got to go.” Yeah, that’s my team, you know, like I know some influencers have and golf is not there yet where they’re going to be okay with that. Um, which I wouldn’t want to like not like let down the team in that way. Um, if I do something, I want to give it my full attention. So, I think I’m right now I’m going to take this ye this year, the last uh senior year that I have and just think about things and then if not I can always, you know, take a gap year or whatever. Um, but I definitely want to give this social media a ch I have a chance, but a real chance and grow as much as I can within the next time that I have. Um, because I basically when I started, I took a leap of faith in nth grade. In the middle of nth grade before midterms, I said, you know what, I’m going to do the social media. I’m going to leave school. I’m going to give it to the end of the freshman year and see if I can grow. And I was at 100,000 followers. I’m going to take this leap. I’m going to give it everything that I’ve got. Let’s see what happens. And I did. And then by that time, I think at the end of the year, I was already at like 400,000 followers. It’s amazing. And so I was like, okay, this clearly worked and I can do this more. Let me go for the next year. Took a chance on yourself. You invested in yourself. Exactly. Let me try one more year. Try one more semester. I can always go back. And I kept doing that to myself. And now I’m at the point where I don’t need to go back. And you should have 100 million followers. You will eventually. You will. Believe me. That that’s truly amazing. Where could everybody find you on social media just so they know? Maybe our viewers that don’t know if you want to just tell everybody link up everything. Definitely. Um it’s Instagram Gabby Golf Girl, Facebook Gabby Golf Girl. Two B’s in a Y.
