And it’ll be Jack Lighter that goes to the mound for the Rangers tonight. He’s two and two in five starts this season. He’s thrown 23 innings with an erra slightly over five. His first three starts of the season were fantastic. Maybe a few hiccups the last two. So he is ready to get back on track. Brettton one for four last night. Well, how about 98 down the middle? Strike three called and Doyle heads back to the dugout trying to fool the hitters by not going over the top but rather going with a slide step and he caught Brendan Doyle completely unaware there. Jordan Beck comes up. This is line to center field. Boy, that’s a good piece of hitting cuz that was a good pitch. That was 97 on the black again. See if Jordan utilizes his speed here. He lifts that straight up in the air short center field. Hagerty coming in, but it is Langford across from left field who makes the catch. Hot hitting Hunter Goodman. Batting average since April the 14th. That’s basically a month. 330. Beck takes off and he’ll steal his fifth base standing up as the ball was in the dirt. A scoring opportunity if Hunter Goodman can keep his good work with the bat going. This ball lined up to the center. Base hit and around third comes back. He’ll score. Hunter Goodman coming through yet again. One to nothing Colorado. I mean, it’s every night. 25 RBI’s on the season now for Hunter, but also his 14th in the last 17 games. Now, here’s Michael Tullia and he strikes him out swinging. Got him with a fast ball. Two strikeouts in the first inning for Lighter, but the Rockies get that first run of the night. Kyle Freelance on the mound for the Rockies. Well, and out on the road for Kyle this year. 418 RA. He’s given up just 1100 runs at 23 and 2/3 and he needs to get that win. Last time he did was September of last year. That’s a good start. Hagerty right back up the middle for a base hit. First pitch of the game. Hagerty has good speed. And here is Wyatt Langford. And that ball is lined out to right field headed to the gap. Cut off out there by Monia who is playing very deep. Hagerty goes to third. Runners at the corners and nobody out. Rangers down one- nothing, but they’re cooking here in the first with Josh Young coming up. And now Young a blast out to deep right center. It’s gone. First pitch swinging. The Rangers on the attack tonight. And a quick three run first inning. He turns the game around and it’s three to one Texas in the first. And there is one away. And that’s ball four. So a free base runner now in this first inning as well. It brings up Jonah Hine and he holds off. That one’s in dirt. Bounces away and Goodman throws it into center field. And that is a wild pitch allowing Simeon to advance into scoring position. Swing and a miss. And Heim goes down on strikes on a good cutter thrown by Kyle. His first punch out of the night. And that’ll bring up Jake Burgerer. Swing and a miss. Kyle gets him with a sweeper to end the inning. Three-run homer by Young puts Texas ahead three to one after one. Leading it off here for Colorado, their shorts stop Balon Treyote. Bouncer third base deep in the the hole there for and a long throw from Young and it’s in time. They get Tjo. And that’s a great throw from Josh. That’s about as long a throw as you’ll see a third baseman have to make to get an out at first base. Tremendous. Lighter needed 22 pitches in the first inning, but only 21 for the second and third innings combined. The pitch is swung on and miss struck him out on a change up. So Lighter now incorporating that kick change, which he didn’t use in his last start. Here’s Hunter Goodman and a swing and a miss. He struck him out. Backto back strikeouts for Lighter. That’s four in the game for Lighter. And next up is Michael Tolia who struck out to end the first inning. Struck him out swinging. got a fast ball by him at 99. So, a lighter strikes out the side here in the fourth. He has five punch outs on the night. And on the middle of the fourth, it’s 3-1 Texas. Simeon forced out. And with a runner at first and one out, it’ll be Jake Burger. There’s a ground ball through the left side. Base hit for Burger. Has hits in both games since returning from Round Rock. Rangers have a couple of base runners. That ball is belted out to left. Beck going back, but he does appear to have room. He makes the catch. Heim tags at second. He’ll go to third. Boy, Gashio just missed that one. And with two on and two outs, it’ll be up to Ezekiel Durant. The O2 swing and a miss. Got him. Wonderful knuckle curveball. The Rangers lead two. 3-1 Texas after four. Having trouble getting that fast ball down now. He has walked backto back hitters. And here comes Mike Maddox to talk to him with runners at first and second and one out. The tying runs aboard in a 3-1 game and the number nine hitter Alan Tjo do out swung on and a popup on the left side. Out goes Duran. In comes Langford. Langford with a one-handed catch. There are two away. And here comes Brenton Doyle. Swung on and sky to right. Adoleis moving back in front of the track. He slows steps onto the cinders and puts it away. And Lighter is out of the inning. No runs, two walks, no hits, and two left. Middle of the fifth, still 3-1 Texas. Lighter longest outing, his last time out in Boston. Five and a third innings. Trying to go beyond that here in the sixth. Hit up the middle. Duran has it. Little scoop to Simeon for one onto first. Double play. Taylor made 643. Twin killing. And Lighter has completed six, giving up only one run. We go to the bottom of the sixth. Rangers ahead here three to one. Al Freeland back out there. Simeon’s been on base twice with a walk and a single swing and a miss. Got him with a pitch in the dirt. Good pitch there by Kyle Freeland. Picks up the strike out. His fourth. Kyle Freeland five pitches in. It Bears repeating. Was down three to one. And all he’s done is dominated since then. With one out. Here’s Jonah who’s 0 for two. That’s bounced to third. There’s the hop that McMahon is looking for. He’s got that over to first for the second out. Cal Freeland rolling right along. swing and a miss. He got him with that knuckle curve. Boy, since the first inning, a wonderful job tonight by Kyle Freeland. We go the seventh. Rockies looking for offense. Down 3-1. Young the three-run homer in the first, accounting for all the Rangers scoring. That ball’s belted out to left field. That has a chance at the wall. It’s gone. And Josh Young is homered again. Second of the night and his third in as many days. It is Josh Young four and the Rockies one. They are loaded for Josh Smith who gets a chance to break this ball game open. Line to Ryan McMahon who snags it to end the inning. It wasn’t easy but a good debut so far for Ryan Rollson. Rockies are down three. Four to one. The Rockies have runners at first and third with nobody out. Trailing four to one. Shawn Armstrong being called upon and he is on here trying to finish off this ball game as things have gotten a little bit hairy in the ninth. Strike three called. Is that a big strike out for Armstrong? Looked like a back door cutter that just caught the edge of the strike zone. Big pitch by Armstrong. So Bard now strike three call. The Rockies have taken consecutive third strikes here with two men on in the ninth and it is up to Owen Miller. Runners at the corners, tying run at the plate. Miller the last man standing for Colorado. Armstrong’s one-two. Got him looking. Strike three called and Armstrong strikes out the side in the ninth and preserves a 4-1 Rangers win.

  1. If Garcia would stop trying to kill every pitch and stop dipping his shoulder. Swing level and just take a nice easy swing. Semien REFUSES to go oppo. Don’t understand why both of them are selfish and only want to swing for the fence. They’ve both been so pathetic it’s been over a year, ADJUST ALREADY!!!

  2. 2nd night in a row the Rockies threatened in the 9th and came away empty,a very inept offense, can't even score much at very hitter friendly CoorsField!

  3. It feels as if the Rangers are on the verge of really heating up. If they can ever keep Seager healthy long enough, it could be an interesting summer, especially with the quality pitching from Degrom, Evoldi, and Mahle (and maybe Leiter if he can get some consistency). As for the Rockies, its very possible they could be the worst ever in MLB at this pace.

  4. We have stumbled our way through these first two games but a win is a win

Three strikeouts looking to end it is crazy 😂

  5. Freeland was so good in 2017-18 but since then…don’t know what changed but he’s nothing but an innings-eater for the Rockies.

Teams will start walking Goodman, the Rox will never win again. 🫤

  6. Pretty much every story about Colorado this year:

“Ed Frumpo starts against the Rockies tonight; it’s his 2nd MLB start, he was pounded by the Marlins last time out.”

“Ed Frumpo wins his first MLB start, 7 IP 5 hits and 9 K’s.”

  7. ROCKIES ARE PLAYING OUT THE STRING IN MAY!! HA! I STILL LOVE MY ROCKIES! BUT ROCKIES 2025 = FUTILITY!! 28 GAMES UNDER .500! 17TH SERIES LOSS IN A ROW! THAT"S 8 CALENDAR MONTHS!!
