If you don’t know how the gauntlet works, Gabby has to beat each Good Good Girl. There are no ties, all in a matter of 12 holes. Gabby is coming off a win at grass clippings. So, let’s see if the girls can take her down. Ladies and gentlemen, emphasis on the ladies. Welcome back to Good Girls. Woohoo! We have a very special guest for today’s video. Huge Miss Gabby Ruffle, winner of the league. Oh my god. Grass League champion. We Marissa and I actually just got done playing the grass league yesterday. Gabby and her brother Ryan won the entire thing. That’s awesome. 21 underpar with a birdie putt made by her on the last to take the trophy. We are so excited to have her with us today. What are we doing today? Today we’re doing a gauntlet and we’re going to go in the order of our last knockout. So, it’s going to be Hadley, Marissa, Lex, Uni. And if you haven’t seen a gauntlet before, Good does it all the time. But essentially, our only goal is to make it through 12 holes against Gabby. So, we’re really excited. Essentially, if she beats Hadley on any hole, Hadley’s out and then Marissa comes in and Marissa’s going to try to tie her or beat her for as long as possible. But, as long as Gabby doesn’t beat her, Marissa can stay in. And we are trying to last for 12 holes. So, we’re super excited. This is the first gauntlet we’re doing, and we’re going to hope to keep doing this on the channel with amazing guests just like Gabby. But, we are somewhere really cool today. Today we are at amazing Silverleaf Country Club here in North Scottdale, Arizona. And this place is insane, you guys. We feel so lucky to be here and we are so excited to see this awesome course. And she’s the only one who hasn’t played competitive golf 3 years. She’s got to play against an LPGA pro. Basically, the weight of good good girls on her shoulder. She striped it. She hit it green side. She hit a perfect chip. Sometimes it only takes one shot, you know, to mess up the hole. But Hadley, love you. Gabby, love you, too. We’re on to Marissa. All right, so the Caddy and Uni just told us all of those over there, those like it looks like they’re glow-in-the-dark or something. Those cacti that look fuzzy. Cactus. This is weird because I’m competing against you, but I also like want to talk to you because I was telling Gabby earlier like I I didn’t really I wasn’t that great of a golfer when I was a junior. So, I played in the US AM the same year that Gabby did and like I just did not feel like I was supposed to be there. And she won the year prior and then you came in second that year that I played. But I was rooting for her so hard because I thought she was so cool. And it’s like so funny cuz I was we were talking on the range. I’m like, “How old are you?” And she goes, “I’m 25.” And I’m like, “Oh, same age. Didn’t know that.” Feeling good. I mean, it’s as I was saying before, like it’s so cool to be out here with you guys. Like I’ve seen your stuff and heard a lot of good things from my brother Ryan. So, um I love kind of getting into the YouTube golf space as well. Like it’s growing so much. So, it’s so fun for me to be out here. So, yeah. Thank you guys. Yeah. It’s probably fun, too, because it’s different from the pro life. Oh, yeah. No, for sure. And this is just fun and like being around all you girls. Great energy and there’s not that many girls in golf even last week at the grass league. So, uh, yeah. No, it’s fun to be around you guys. And it had to have been insane to do that with your brother as well. It was so fun. I was even saying like playing in a team, you never get that in golf. And so having everyone around the LA Roses, that was so much fun. But getting to do it with my brother, like when does that ever happen? Exactly. You know, playing a mixed event. So I never thought I would ever play an event with my brother and to come out and win. Like I was kind of even getting like a little emotional too. It was It was really cool and something we’ll remember for I honestly like I was getting emotional for you guys cuz like I was thinking about if I was with my brother in that situation, I would be the same way. It was cool to watch. Yeah, it’s so cool. And he supported me so much and he probably knows my golf game the best out of anyone. Um so to be kind of alongside him, it was it was so fun. Yeah. Yeah, it was awesome. That’s awesome. All right. I kind of It looks straight. So, but I do think it is going to leak a little that way. Nothing crazy. It’s fast putt. So, I need to need to tap it. I guess I should ask you like when you hit a bad shot in like YouTube golf versus pro golf, like how does it compare? Can Have you been able to like tell or does it even compare at all? I mean, it does compare. I feel like anytime you step it up, like I’m a competitive person, like you know, you want to play well. Um, and you know, I’ve actually been kind of working on that too, like practice compared to a tournament and trying to make that the same. Yeah. Um, sometimes I’m a little bit not as alert maybe or focused in practice and I’m kind of working on that with my coach as well. So, all of these things are great, you know, when you kind of, you know, I’m feeling like I I want to play well today, you know. So, I was going to say I feel like the people would want to know like you do you play more than you practice at this point in your career or like kind of just depends. It depends. Um I’ve kind of put a lot of effort into my swing, a lot of practice into my swing. Mostly, you know, in the past couple years cuz going out in the LPGA, the girls are so good and I feel like I had to get that like 5 10% better. Um, so I used to just kind of go out and play all the time, but I’ve definitely put a lot more work into my swing with my coach. Okay. Um, but yeah, it’s probably it’s probably around 50/50, I would say. Okay, cool. Made it to hole two somewhat. You hit a good one up there, Gabby. I bet you’ll have 260 is what I’m going to guess. Nervous. Like I got a lot of space based on your first two holes watching that driver. I told that to the camera. I said it’s probably different. Well, I feel like it’s different cuz you’re like representing a team. Yeah. That’s like you don’t want to like put it on other giving me the same anxiety that college gave me. Pretty nice. Awesome. Good job. All right. I’m going to ask you a long-winded question cuz I want the people to know more about you. Cool. So, like talk about in the span of here to our balls, how you got started, and then obviously to where you are now. Yeah, that is a that is a loaded question. Um, so I started off as a tennis player. Actually, I played tennis for 8 to 10 years. Yeah, I didn’t know that. Um, both my parents were professional tennis players, so came from a tennis background. Um, played a lot of sports growing up, but it was tennis always. And then when I was 14, I I lost uh I lost the love of the sport. Um, started homeschooling, kind of got burnt out a little bit. And my brother was playing golf at the time. He was one of the top amateur golfers in the world. And so, stopped playing tennis, but was so used to being active and doing something and working hard. And, um, my mom was just kind of like, you know, maybe you maybe you’ll like golf. Um, so I guess I kind of followed my brother into the sport a little bit, but yeah, picked it up. Picked it up at 14. Picked it up at 14. And if anyone’s listening to that, make sure you pay attention to that cuz that’s insane. Yeah. Yeah. Picked it up at 14 and then went to college at 17 at USC and then um, you know, started to get a bit better and then turned pro when I was 20 20 years old. So that was kind of my pathway. I only went to nationals one time out of my five years there. What about USC? Like how was it when you guys were there? Your nationals? Yeah. So, it was different. I only got to play two nationals when I was there. Um, my first two years, which was 2018, 2019, and then I turned pro early, so I didn’t play that 21 NCAA, but the first year we got to the semiis, and then the next year we got to the quarters. Wow. Um, and yeah, Justin, our head coach, is still looking for that national championship. We’ve always had pretty good teams, but hopefully You guys have never had a national championship. They’ve had three, but not under Justin. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. I was going to say cuz they’re like you guys are always right there. Yeah. Yeah. Hopefully soon. Yeah. Hopefully soon. All right. Um, so kind of going to one of the top schools in the country was a super cool opportunity for me. Uh, my mom went there, so I was kind of in the family and, uh, was cool. She did tennis there. She did tennis there. Yeah. So, I knew I wanted to go there and I feel like I really improved a lot there cuz I was on my team with some of the best golfers in the country. So, it really, I mean, propelled me to work hard and try and make the team. Um, so you know, I I credit USC for for a lot of my improvement and a lot of, you know, what I’ve been able to do in golf and it was just the best time. Okay, 107. Do you use 58 for that or does it depend? I use 58 for everything 70 yards and lower. I don’t like hitting a full 58. Okay. Yeah, I agree with that. That’s awesome. Little bit of a downhill lie. Girl, that actually makes me feel like honestly that those are the stuff that makes not only me but the audience feel like so much better about themselves because those are tricky. Those are hard.
