There was a lovely atmosphere in Dundalk Golf Club last Tuesday at a special night to celebrate the success of the Ladies Junior Cup Team on reaching the All-Ireland Finals, hosted by Tandragee Golf Club in September.

Director of Teams Noeleen Gernon reminded those present of the team’s achievements to reach the finals.

Along the way they won their matches against Ardee, Co Louth and Skerries. That set them up for a tough final against Headfort in Corballis where Dundalk came out on top to become North Leinster champions.

Then it was off to Tandragee where Dundalk beat County Galway in a nail-biting match before going down the following morning to Tipperary Golf Club who went on to become the outright winners.

At last week’s celebration night, team managers Lesley O’Keeffe and Katherina Conneally Sloan officially presented the North Leinster pennant to Lady Captain Sally McDonnell.

Lesley and Katherina left no stone unturned to prepare the team on their quest for success and the team also had great support from club members.

On behalf of the panel of players, Lesley thanked all those who sponsored the team and those who travelled to support them.
