Ryder Cup loss the ‘darkest time’ of Keegan Bradley’s career | Golf Central | Golf Channel

Keegan Bradley. Now Keegan Bradley after the loss at Beth Page, well, he took it hard and today he was asked at his press conference to give us his interpretation on just how much of an emotional toll losing the RDER Cup was to him. I mean, the darkest time of my life probably. I mean, I don’t know how else to describe it. Certainly definitely of my career. Uh, but there there’s always this let down after a Ryder Cup or President’s Cup regardless of the outcome because you’re you’re the emotions are so extreme and they call it’s Ryder Cup hangover and and you’re just exhausted and you and you’re down and and you know it’s it’s that takes a toll on you. But there’s just it just was um it just was a tough time. Still is. Uh, but you know, to be honest with you, the last couple weeks I’ve felt more like myself, like getting back getting back getting ready to play tournaments, playing the Skins game, getting ready to come play here. Uh, but it really it’s been tough, uh, you know, for for all of us, you know, not just me, the players as well. And, um, I feel like every time I see a player on the team here, I want to just go give him a hug and, you know, sit down and chat. But I I I’m grateful for everybody and um you know I am in a unique position where I could make another team which has never been done and I I would love to do that. Yeah. And Kinker Bradley is a top 20 player in the world. He could easily make that United States Rder Cup team that’s going to travel to Ireland in a couple of years. But he did say he is not going to lobby to try to be a US Rder Cup captain once again. But he comes to the Bahamas. Although uh like he mentioned there, it did take an emotional toll losing the RDER Cup. He comes here with some momentum. And if you remember last week, Friday after Thanksgiving, it was the Skins game made for TV event. The winner was Keegan Bradley. He took home more than $2 million. We’ll see if he keeps a good thing going here on the island of Bahamas. Thank you, Todd. Yeah, I think everybody was very pleased to see Keegan Bradley take that home. just something to raise his spirits uh after what was such a tough week at the RDER Cup. All right, let’s bring Paige back in for a bit more on Keegan Bradley. Paige, it’s actually really hard I find to hear Keegan say that he’s been in such a dark place after the Ryder Cup because he’s a beloved guy across the tour and everybody wanted him to do well that week and he was just dealt such a tough set of cards from start to finish on his journey as the captain of the Ryder Cup. What do you think his focus and his drive is now for 2026? And as he kind of resets on this next chapter of his career where he said himself he could even make the team again. Yeah, I appreciated. First of all, I appreciated his honesty because you can only imagine what it would be like to be in the shoes that Keegan Bradley has been in the last two years where he’s been playing the best golf of his career, given an opportunity to to what is a kind of capstone to your career to be Ryder Cup captain and then ultimately to fall short. And it it amplifies what every professional golfer goes through. I think the RDER Cup in of itself magnifies the highs and the lows that every professional golfer goes through. So, uh, to hear him talk about it with such honesty, I think a lot of us that have played the game can relate even though this, uh, was kind of a maxed out version of that. And then as it relates to moving forward, Anna, to your point, uh, playing great golf and it was glad to hear that he’s kind of reset the focus in better headsp space, better mindset moving forward, and clearly has still a big goal in front of him.

Wirjs,
Honestly it should NOT be! He can't swing the clubs for his team, and there never is any sure thing coaching strategy for even the best of teams. But oh yeah, he did make some BIG mistakes, including not picking himself; and his captain's picks sucked, along with his pairing choices. Hey, live and learn though 🙂 It's not like he went into the final round of the Masters with a 10 shot lead, and blew it. Or if he, himself, was out on the course with the winning point in hand, and a 5 up lead with 6 to go, and lost all of the last 6 holes, to lose the Cup by a half point.
