Tour cards have just been lost at the RSM Classic. There’s a few guys who may have seen the last of their PGA Tour days. We’re going to talk about that here on Golf with Mitch. Your 10-minute update on what’s going on on the PGA Tour. So, stay tuned. For the last couple weeks, we’ve been talking about bubble players, those who are trying to earn their status for 2026 on the PJ tour. And this is the last stop on tour for the FedEx Cup fall Series, the RSM Classic. They just finished their first two rounds. And there are some bubble players who miss the cut. And it’s super important because folks like Danny Walker, you got to be in the top 100. Last year, you had to be in the top 150. This year, top 100. Danny Walker was 99. He just missed the cut. Fortunately, he’s still projected to end at 98. Excuse me, I said that wrong. He started at 97 and is now at 98. So, he’s moving in the wrong direction and he’s right there on the bubble, but he’s not playing the weekend. So, it’s out of his control now. So, we’ll see who plays well uh over the next two rounds and whether or not that means Danny Walker gets his full status. That’d be a stressful weekend to not be playing golf and just watch to see who you need to be cheering against. It’s an unfortunate situation for Danny, but he’s got to sit and wait and be patient. So sitting at 98th in the projections, um he’s right there on the bubble. The other bubble players that are significant that we’ve talked about in the past is Joel Damon. It’s unfortunate, but he missed the cut. He no longer will have full status on the PGA Tour. Uh he will likely have some sort of conditional status um being in the top 150. He’ll play in PJ Tour events still. Um if he plays really well in them, then he could earn his full status back that way. or he could try to play a full season on the Cornferryy Tour. Now, as a refresher, the Cornfairy Tour, you have to be one of the top money earners at the end of the season to get your tour card that way. So, it kind of sucks if you play in PJ Tour events as a sponsor exemption or anything like that because it takes you away from cornfairy events and you can’t earn points and the people in that race can jump ahead of you. So a lot of times cornfairy players will turn down opportunities to play on the PJ tour temporarily because it could pull them out of the running for the seasonl long points race for the cornfair tour. So Joel Damon is in that boat now where he’s got to decide if he has if he wants to play full a full season on the cornfair tour again. Um which is an unfortunate place to be after playing many years on the PJ tour. Another person who’s in that same boat is Harry Higgs. also well-known, well-loved golfer. Um, he’s been fighting back on the Cornfair Tour as well. So, would love to see him do well, but he missed the cut this week. So, he no longer will have full status. Although, I don’t think he had full status this year either. I think he was also in a conditional situation for 2025, but for 2026, same thing. He’ll probably still play in a lot of events, but as far as the season long goes, he’s probably going to be playing a lot of Cornfair events. Um, someone else who we’ve been looking out for is Bo Hustler. He’s right there on the bubble as well. He is now projected to be 102. He did make the cut, so he is now tied for 59th. He has to play pretty well over the next two days because he’s got to make up to maybe three spots in those rankings if he wants to earn his status back for 2026. Now, some other fun things that happened at the RSM Classic just today are sub 30 rounds. There were one, two, three, four, five players who shot better than 30 during one of their nines, either the front or the back. Um, so we’re going to start at Zack Blair, BYU alum. That’s also my alma moater. So, big BYU fan. Pumped for Zack. He is projected right now to be 150 in the FedEx Cup rankings. Again, last year that would have been in this year. It’s not probably have conditional status. Same thing as what we were talking about with some of these other players. He’s in a situation where I don’t I don’t see him playing a lot of cornfairy events. I don’t think he would do a full season on the cornfairy tour. um he would likely play in as many PJ tour events as he can as uh he has um conditional status. So, not sure exactly what his plans are for the future, but as of this round or as of today, one of his nines, he shot a 29, which is pretty incredible. Another BYU alumni is also in that same category. Of those five today, Patrick Fishburn, he is also right on the bubble. So he is projected to be 109 as of the scores after Friday’s round. So he’s got to make up nine spots to get his full status back. So he is very much on the bubble and could use a top 10, top five finish. We probably need to be pretty close to top five, top three in order to win. So he’s got a lot of work to do. Um someone else who shot sub 30 on one of their nines today is Eric Cole. He’s pretty much locked up um in the top 100. He’s at 73 for his projections right now. Great round. Eric Cole, I was able to follow him for one of the rounds at the Wells Fargo last year um here in Charlotte at Quail Hollow. I’m now the truest. But Eric Cole, one of the guys that you would look at and think, man, he is there’s no way he’s a tour player. And then you watch him play golf, it’s like, holy cow, that guy’s good. So, not the longest hitter, but but uh killer round today. I mean, sub 30, even if you melt down on the back n that gives you quite a bit of a cushion. Um Grayson Sig also shot that. He is uh tied for fourth after two rounds and he right now is projected to end at 123. Same thing. He’s not in. being tied for fourth and being that far back, he probably needs a win in order to have status for next year for for 2026. So, he could very likely be one of those firsttime winners on the PJ tour. We’ve seen that over the last month in some of these fall events. First-time winners on the PJ tour in the fall still get a lot of exemptions for 2026. So, you could very much lock up um your status for next year with the win. So, he’s tied for fourth, very much in the mix. Same thing with Ricky Cast Ricky Castillo, I believe you pronounced his name. Also had a sub 39 holes today and is projected to be 125th in FedEx Cup points. So he also needs to fight for the win here today and that could be life-changing for him. So there’s a lot of folks who uh had a lot at stake and after two rounds have a lot of stake still with the with the weekend coming up. So, it’ll be fun to see who plays well and how this drama unfolds. Who’s going to carve their way into the the PJ tour after another 36 holes of golf? A lot could happen. Some of these guys could go on a surge. It’s a very getable course as we see there’s five guys who had sub 30 rounds. So, uh Saturday and Sunday, we’ll see how it goes. Thanks for tuning in. We’ll do an update either tomorrow after Saturday’s round or Sunday night after the tournament finishes up and we’ll be posted for your Monday morning. So, thanks for tuning in to Golf with Mitch.
