Chopper vs Kanagawa Country Club

Choppers. Ron’s made it to Japan. And we’re here at Kanagawa Country Club. And guess what? In Japan, Ron can pop. Oh yeah. Come on. Yeah. What’s that whiskey called? Saki. Saki. Yeah. No. I’m rough. And if I’m rough and he’s rough, it’s uh we’re struggling. Just got to Tokyo. It took us like 25 minutes to try and get out of the station. Well done. That’ll do. It’s tiny. Perfect. Tiny. Oh, yeah. There’s the wall. Oh, lovely. Very nice. More bum. The bum squirt. Um, you’re telling the story. I know we’re in Japan and we should be eating traditional foods, but I tell you what, when you’re hung over, there’s nothing better. Couple of pizzas, a coke. Oh, I’m getting emotional. Sh. Oh, it’s like a normal trip. [Music] Grab the bags out of the car for you, mate. You could have done that. So, now you go to the locker room and then you can put your gear in there, get change your shoes and so on. And then anytime you buy anything, you just use your number and then you check out at the end like a hotel and then you set up for your school night. They took my clothes and they were like cleaning, were they? Yeah. And then I’m assuming that they were like chuck them on a cart. Oh, there they are. So, you’re not using the steering wheel or the pedals. Stop start there. That’s the magnetic track. And that’s what it’s going to follow. That’s how it all works. All this to shoot 93. Yeah. Great. That’s the first hole. Par three. K. Kawa. Kagawa. Kagawa. Kawa. Kagawa. Kagawa. K dog. Kagawa. Okay. Good day, choppers. We’re here at Kagawa Golf Club. I can’t do this. Kanagawa. Good day, Choppers. We’re here at Kanagawa Country Club in Japan. This place looks unbelievable. We’re in the middle of the mountains as well. Um, little bit of drizzle. First game of the trip as well. Been itching to play some golf. Joel’s been itching to watch me play golf. No. No. Come on, man. Honestly, today if I go sub 80, I’ll be pretty happy. Brand new set of golf clubs from Mizuno in the bag. Uh, we’ve traveled all this way with Gold Box and Mizuno, so very happy to be here and thanks to them. Par three to start. Par three to start. How’s the nerves? Not bad. I’m actually more excited. I’ll do your deal. If I get a hole in one on this trip, I’ll get a Japanese tattoo, mate. If you get a hole in one, it’s it’s going to cost you like 100,000. Have you taken out a hole in one insurance? No. Oh, you have to throw a party, don’t you? Yeah. The tattoo on me just above me butt. I was thinking in Japanese, I am a good putter. You didn’t have to putt it. Right. First hole, par three says 155 yards. 75 yards. I’m I’m hitting a nine on. Brand new nine on play. Well, no. That’s a green rag. Green. Wrong. Green. Green rig. Oh, automatic carts. Yep. Ready? Hit it again. It’s called truck. Um, we’re here with the boys from golf in Japan. Woohoo. Hello. These boys have sorted us out. We’re going to play a game with them tomorrow against them. I just need to warm up today. So, they hit they have two greens here cuz it obviously gets so cold in winter. So, they’ve got two different grass. One obviously does better in winter. I should have brought a wedge jump. Green’s quick. We never put, did we? I should have shipped that. Oh, that’s bad. Yeah, it’s really slow, by the way. Yeah. Gone. Oh, they’re slow. There you go. Hang on. Listen to this. Ready? Four for three. Look at this. The buggy’s going to come up by itself. Like, you know, play with people and they just leave their buggy over there or that would never happen. He’s got a remote on his belt and he just hits the button to bring the bug. Okay, second hole, par five. Getting Bonville sort of vibes here. Enclosed trees down a shoot. This is cool. About 450 m, 60 m I’d say. Have a crack with the driver. I’m a bit stiff. Greens are soft and we chip from off the green. All right. Yeah. Cool. Like golf, you mean? Yeah. Yeah. Oh man. So slippy. That’s fine. Through the fairway. I warm up. I always start like this. How many beers did you have in your bug last night? No, last night we didn’t have any beers the night before we uh two day hangover. Gotcha. Yeah. Gave gave that a rip. That’s when I haven’t played much there. I’ll get out. I’ll figure it out. A long way in, but I’m going to try out the new the new carol stinger. Stinger. Spott. Can you stop it? Stop. Okay, we’re good. We’re good. We’re good. About 60 m in. Here we go. Bit of Raz. Bit of Japanese Raz. Yeah. Raz. This will this will be the difference surely. [Applause] H. All right. Better. They put a flag stick. Looks like me. Have a look at that thing. Still trying to work out how far these clubs go as well. You’d think the blades if you hit them out of the middle go well. Not really short. So that’s nine on. Oh, that hurt. A got a nice kick to the to the left. Pulling one. Pushing. Get in. Get in. Get in. That’s how you avoid putting, man. Yeah. Yeah. You’re such a It’s already fixing me putting I’ve done something decent. It’s been a while since any highlight reel for me. Right. Short path four 320 y 300 300 m I think that is conversion divided by 7, isn’t it? You take 10% off 14. Japan 20 Japan uh exchange rate. Oh, the yen. Yen. Okay, we’re going to hit we’re going to hit that two iron, three iron straight at the bunker on the right. Miss it. Chip in. Don’t putt. Perfect. Very nice. Hey, maybe should move here. Yeah, I can put chip here. Oh, I can chip. I can’t a bit. Putting stats are down, but they are. Yeah. Keep forward and roll. Right. Birdie chance here. Bit of swing. Right to left, I reckon. One your way there, mate. I hope not. I don’t think so. Oh, push it. Let’s push it. I’m on about eight sailor points already. Right, hole number five, par four, 365 y divided by 7. We’re having a crack. There’s water left. We’re not coming all the way to Japan to lay up. Maybe after this one. You can stick your tea in astro turf. Yeah, I I left the biggest divot on the last one. Not good. Everything I got five holes in, I’m warmed up. I’m good to go. Here we go. Oh yeah. Hey, roll out. Oh, I thought that was perfect. Bugger. Bugger. Yeah, nice birdie on the path. Hey, we moving here. This doesn’t normally happen. Chip in. Putts made. Far out. Okay, one under. This is good. Six hole. Uh 353 yards divided by 7. That’s the number. Um bit of a shoot to go down. Can’t see over the hill. Um, we’re going to hit I got no names for these. Stinger. It’s a stinger. It’s the stinger. We’re gonna hit the stinger again. Sally. Sally. Stinger. Oh. How do you say I’m a good putter in [ __ ] Japanese? Jo. What? Jo. Jo. Is that Did you tell me how much is that? We just translated that. Oh, I’ve just hit that off the Callaway logo. I didn’t hit that very well at all. But do what is it? All right. 150 m. Can’t lose this. I’m going to go a nine again. This is the most used club so far. Um, and yeah, see what happens. Still trying to work out how far these go, but I reckon this is spot on. Go. You’re going to get a good read. Yeah. Thanks, mate. Who Who’s first? You. You’re definitely going first. Oh, you got a good read now. Yeah. The problem is now I’ve got no excuse. Oh, I keep pushing him. You ever played like um those You ever play like a Japanese golf game? Nope. Like the ball goes in. Par five. Uh hole number seven. Looks like a dog legs to the right. There’s a a yellow marker back. I think you you got to stay inside that with a little a little tour fight. Little salty. They were salty. Yeah. Yeah. Japanese salty. Japanese salty. [Applause] Japanese snapp. What? That’s probably perfect. I’ve hit like a stinger then and it’s hit the hill. I hit that middle. All right. Uh, long way back. Another stinger. Stop. Oh, you’re okay. Been rough working here. So thick. Can you feel under your feet? Let’s go. You still one under? Yeah. Don’t say it out loud. We there for two. Par five. Going up. Okay. I forgot me rangefinder. So, we’re going to be feel which always works out really well. I got to keep it low. I got to go under up. Green apparently goes away. So then let’s get some of that Japanese Raz, mate. Japanese Raz, right? Little draw too, you reckon? Yeah. Pretty good. I got to stop hitting fairways, I reckon. Just keep it stay in the jungle. Was born in the jungle, mate. Fairways are just guidelines. I played one there. That’s a shot. That’s a golf shot then. What’s going on? Oh, stick’s coming out. Flag out. Ball in. I’m What’s I’m a good putter again. Joess. Putter jo. Come on. Got it. Pause. Am I saying? What am I actually saying? Okay. Uh hole eight 320 yards. You can’t see straight downhill like back home. Araluan that path 316 ain’t got nothing on this place. Yeah. And every hole is like a little too much. What’s that? Monkeys and Oh god. Do you reckon the first one’s gone? Yeah, he just got far out. That’s You’ll find it, you reckon? Yeah. Yeah, go for it. Original ball. Look, the second ball was great. If I could have provisionals, I reckon I’d be on the tour. Two goes at everything. No. No. I have to just throw it all the way there. Don’t you? I thought that was going to bounce and roll down. Bugger. It’s rolled on a bit, too. Oh, and come on. Let’s make a triple buggy. Did I? Yeah, I think. Why can’t I make those parts? Why? Why? I just tried to hit straight at it. One over. I’m seething like anchor, but we’re all good. Reset. Hold 9. 305. It’s not long, but it’s just like you got to just thread it through the mountains. All right. What are we calling it? Shiohal. Shh. The shell stinger. That’s all. Say that after a couple points. Oh my god. I nearly spanked it. [Applause] What’s going on? Oh, it’s a roller coaster. You’re one under for Yeah, I know. The putter I just ruined me then. Yeah. Was that in play or I just hit out of bounds? Man, it’s like you just dropped it there, mate. How that ended up here. That’s just rode the cart path all the way up. Yeah, I said hug the right side. 110. Reset. Golf’s emotional. I reckon just bounced all the way up and then some that’s out of bounds right there and it’s not. Take advantage, Ron. Come on. Come on. Got to finish on a good roller coaster golf shop. This will feel great going in. Reset on the back nine. Couple of beers. Not a psyche, man. I’m not having psyche again. No. No. That nearly killed us. Yeah, I pulled up rough. You never pull up rough. Yeah, I think it’s um maybe the food. So, not wasn’t more. Try again. See if it was nice. Oh, one over. What a roller coaster to nine holes. That was chipped in. Made a putt. Yeah, birdie. Tripled. Nearly missed the ball. It’s entertaining stuff. True to Ron form at the minute. Tour level. Beginner level. Ron chopper. So now we’ll go in have a curry. Couple of beers. So how long do they give you to have lunch now? Usually 40 minutes to an hour. Yeah. Right. How many beers is that? Get six in. Six. Yeah. Thanks, mate. So if you got wet jumpers, just chuck it in there. How good is that? Drawing for you. Yeah. pepper. Here we go. First ramen at the turn. At the turn. Happy camp. Could be a 50 on the back n watching you try the chopsticks, mate. The staff brought me. Bought the fork over for you. I think it’s fair enough. Tea times in 20. We can’t miss it. The members of the golf club get a full of whiskey with their name on it. So whenever they’re finished, it goes back into the cooler. They got the name on it. Next time they play, they bring it out. Ready to go. I reckon we can introduce that. Yeah, that’s something we can do in Australia. Y Okay, we’ve uh stopped for nine holes. We had lunch, had a beer. I’m feeling pretty good. Um one over par. This could be based on the last nine. I shoot a 50 or 26. 26. Come on. Come on, man. Don’t be stupid. Okay. 125 m par 3 10th hole in one tattoo. I’m a what is it? I’m a good putter. Jaws are part jaws of death. Bye. Bye. Sit. It’s always at length. Yeah. Oh, man. Man, I know what to do. You can’t miss the hole from there. It But it always has to just leak away. Oh, come on. That too soft as well. Worst putter. Okay, par five. Dog legs to the right. I’m going to test out the 3-wood. Give this a crack. I think I’m just gonna hit straight straight down the guts. I don’t know. Here we go. Round at it all. I think I think that’s good. I feel like I followed the fairway. I can do this bit right tomorrow. This is what I’m thinking. We got tomorrow off. Let’s go thrift shopping. I’m going to buy a Scotty Cameron straight blade. Okay. You reckon? Yeah. Get a blade putter back to where I started and then just continue the three. Keep missing. Well done. 148 9. They’re going to nuts when he hits this thing. So, my swing. I know that it gets a bit dodgy when I’m a bit like lanky and loosey. So, I’m going to go full Adam Scott. Just You want a bit of this? Yeah. All right. And a bit and a bit of that. Solid. Tommy Fleetwood. Adam. Adam. Platewood. Stay there. Oh, short. Struck it. Well, probably an eight iron. Let’s chip one in. Oh, so soft. Great. Great. I got back to pencil. pencil grip. Yeah. Pencil. Is that a birdie? No. Surely not. It was a birdie. Yeah. Was it half five? Really? Yeah. Oh, you ate that up. Away. If you get the t-shirt away. Threewood nine. Big big Aussie man. How do you say big Australian man in Japanese? and don’t go on correctly, right? For the for the proper meaning, but that’s not what he’s saying. He was like big Australian man. Lanky prick. Let’s just literally call it okie Australian gin. Okie Australian gin. That’s that’s literal translation. That’s the literal translation. Okay. Big Australian. Yeah. Okie Australia gin. Right. Another par five. 462 yards meters yards yards divided by seven. Right, we’re hitting 3wood again cuz that went that came out like a rocket before. So, stay there. Stay there. Perfect. Is that perfect? This is our aloon on drugs. I didn’t even see the water. Did you see the water? No. Could you I didn’t see the water at all. Bugger. 195 uphill. Sch sling the five. Yeah. Big Japanese schlinger. Leg back. A little bit of a hang up. All right. I reckon you’d play well here. The same. Yeah. It’s not long. Oh. All right. No. Too much. All right. Got the shape. Chip aud trying to be fancy. Try and dunk it. Luke Longley, you get cutter or there you go. He figured it out. He got there eventually. I was like, “What are you filming, mate? Over here.” Who’s he talking to? Who’s he talking to? Oh yeah. Wow. Oh yeah. Even Hansel even parer coaster of love. when you learn Japanese, are you converting it in your head to English? Like how I just don’t understand how that works. Uh I think when you’re when you’re learning, you always convert it from your own language. You have to. Yeah. It doesn’t work otherwise. But I think once you get to a certain level, it just becomes natural. Especially when you’re listening. Yeah. You’re not converting it into English. You’re just understanding. Yeah. Okay. Right. Just it’s just going in. It just spins me out. Yeah. So do you know can you speak another language? I I can do short hands swahily when I’ve had a couple of pints. That’s 359 m yard par 4 down right square green. We’re having a pop. Are you going for it? Yeah. Y I’ve got back to square. It’s up or down now. I can’t stay here winter when it’s all ice. makes a hole. Put your tea in the hole. Bob’s your uncle. Oh, f. Yeah. [ __ ] hell. Sorry. That is on the hole behind that went straight. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, that’s on that fairway behind probably. [Music] Probably can get a drop, but I don’t want to. Sitting pretty pretty nice. Um, Eagle 2, you reckon? Yeah, go for it. I’ve been more I’m using the 54 me Raz. Um, just so I can land it on. Shouldn’t have said that out loud. It’s pretty good. Yep. Take that. Would you onehanded that one? Yes, of course you would. He chips one-handed. Some pretty big demons going on in there, man. Man, come on. It’s never hard enough. That’s for three in a row as well, was it? Yeah. Not done that. Just not hard enough. Right. Hole 14 269 y take away 7°. We’re hitting shalley stinger straight out the guts. No. Doho. Sheho. Sheho. Sheho stinger straight out the guts. Oh, draw that up. Is that gone? I think so. Oh, what? What’s up there? Maybe a stick. Oh, no. Maybe hit a provisional. I was even part too long, wasn’t I? All right. Now, this has to go on the green. Is that gone as well? First one gonsky. Second one nearly gonsky. I thought that was crema. [Applause] Go in. That’s good. Is it? Yeah. It’s picking up. Is it Ron good? It’s Yeah. Ron good. Yeah. Bang. Bogey. That’s a good bogey. It’s an emotional round. All right, we’ve got another hut here to grab some drinks. Let’s have a look what I’ve got. Vending machine. Beer highball chuhai. Grapefruit lemon. What’s that? That’s a uh it’s a lemon chuhai. So, it’s like a hard salsa. What are you getting? Whiskey soda. I’m off. It’s quick. Yeah. Best bartender I’ve ever seen. Yeah. I might go the the old Yeah. try. Uh let’s go. Let’s go. Lemon. Give that. Just keep drinking your bra. Smell it. No, man. You’ll vomit. I’m telling you. Yeah. [Laughter] Short par four 270. They’re all short, but then just out of bounds everywhere. What do you reckon? This one’s full on like a dog. It’s basically goes straight 90° like do whatever it’s going to take you to leave you about 90 out. Yeah. Okay. Right. And like I just want to give it a crack cuz I haven’t hit the new irons. That’s the other some of blades and some of their S3. So look nice. Little sixiron number straight out the guts. The boys in the group have just shown me where not to go. That felt good. Perfect. Yep. Yeah. Like one or two more clubs, you would have been on the ground. Like if you had a What was that? Six. That was six. Yeah. So you hit a hit like a four, you’d be on the ground. You have to like boom rang it like this. Yeah. A little bit. Send it around. You lost a ball on the last. All right, primo spot. Good caddyy work there by you, Joel. Chose a six iron. Right all the way there cuz we’re not getting any any run. Yuck. I just got stuck. It’s okay. The not good technique. That was weird. Eh, I just got that got me this way. It look good. [Music] should have left it where it was. [Music] Man, I hit that good. I always have little sneaky brakes on all of them. Okay, so where were we? We just had a bit of a discussion cuz Right. So I had my I had this down right like that. I had like that and then I stood back here and I went, “Oh, too much.” And you went, “Yeah.” Yeah. Cuz I do think that’s too much right now. Yeah. Okay. And then I’ve just yanked it as well. You’ve gone way left of that. I’ve hit a draw. You can literally see the lines. Okay. So if I hit it there, Yeah. Got to hit it as well. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You also left it 3 foot 3 and 1/2t short. So apart from that. Good shot. Apart from line and length. Line and length. Four for three though. All right. This is the 15th. 16th. 16th. 16th. Um short par four again. I’m going to hit 3-wood. Little little fade high land draw. We’re on my packag tomorrow. Yeah, tomorrow’s pin will be spot on. This thing goes all right. Well, I know a part just is all the way down there. Don’t just hit it hard. I just got to hit it hard. Yeah. [Applause] But now I got the slider. Was I aiming there? Yes. Good shot. Take it. Oh, man. I’ve seen that part about 60 times. Well, I’m going to try chip that. Let’s have a look at the chip. So, now I can probably go straight at it as well. Oh, that’s much better. Oh, still a par. Fog’s coming in. Uhoh. Oh, mate. What a shot. No, I can’t hear that. Maybe that bunker. Short of it. Seen it bounce a couple times. It’s getting hard to see. She was to go one over par. We’re starting to work out the putty. No, we’re not. tomorrow. So, we’re getting we’re going shopping. Did you measure this one? No. You didn’t measure. I feel like if I This is the problem. I need to practice because if I say 60, I’m like, “Oh, yeah. I don’t have a I got to work out what my 60 swing is.” Okay. I tell other people do. So, there’s no point knowing the distance if you don’t know how to hit it. Yeah. I need I need to do a measurement. Okay. I’m going to guess it’s about there with me 54. dancing. Yeah, that’s the number though. Yep. I took a practice swing and that’s what my club looked like on the ground. Oh, I did it. Yeah. And then I was like, I should have used your pants. What? What did you hear? They came out low. Eh, these come out so low. Yeah. Raz though. Like, no. No. Raz, right? Come on. This This goes in. We’re even down. The last under in Japan would be unreal based on what’s happened today. Hold. Ah, what’s the copy? I just called. I had to go though. Can I have a go of your blade putter? I just see. So, this is called an AR. It’s a um French brand. We call it Matsumun. Matsum. So, it’s a Japanese. Yeah, that one’s broken, too. That putter there is 35,000. Don’t. Are you joking? No. No. No. Three and a half grand. Yeah. Is it gold? It’s gold. Why didn’t you tell me that? He ain’t catching me. Three grand. That’s an expensive way to miss putts. We have to go pinse. We need a birdie to finish even. And that’s all we’re doing. That’s all we’re thinking about. Got a pitching wedge. It’s roughly 125 m. Uh, also having a nearest opinion with Joel for a beer. So, that’s probably what I’m worried about more than anything. Go left. Go left. Go left. Go left. Go left. Go left. Go left. Go left. Oh, there’s a big You could That’s footy goals in the middle of that. Straight through the guts. You got it. Yeah. Thank you to the boys from uh golf in Japan who got us on here. Um we’re going to play with them again on Monday at one of the boys family owns the course. So we’re going to be heading to that course on Monday. Tomorrow we’re going to buy putter unless this one goes in. Go on. Go on. Oh [ __ ] Did he say something? He did twice. Yeah, magpie. We’re just going to call you the magpie from now on. Encourage you. All right, one over. That’s not bad. We’ll take that. Pretty good. Thank you very much. There. I left a few out there. I did a few things, but uh thanks very much for watching. Subscribe to the channel. Couple of beers. You owe the first one, too. Yeah, I beat him. Just clean the clubs. Ready to go. Heck, it’s that day one of golf. We got one in the bank. Go pretty well. Yeah, I thought it was all right, mate. Y What’s the plan now? I don’t know. I think we’re going to go have a beer. Yeah. Some dinner and then tomorrow we’re going shopping. We’re going shopping. Going to a pub. I think we’ve drank enough as sakis. Uh time for a dinner. Back to our roots. Yeah. No, you got to put your finger on the bottom. My finger’s always on the bottom. No, no, like that. That’s [Music] Heat. Hey, Heat. [Music]

  1. This is truly great. I loved every minute of it. I'd love to hear what it does to your bag setup.

  2. First I love the break at 9, wish we did that every round, next, those blades are not your friend Ron specially on the long irons, hole 9 I felt that stinger shock you mate! blended set is the way to go, Anyway enough of my stupid opinions, thanks for the Japan tour, enjoyed when Taco & crew did it, now redux, Let's Go!

  3. I reckon old razz razz put up a strong argument for getting in the bag despite what the viewers reckon

  4. Try sticking with that pencil grip IMO. It seems to eliminate a level of uncertainty.
Good vid, love the translations 😀

Oh, I wouldn't mind seeing some intro to the new clubs!

  5. So love watching your golf maybe try a counter weight putter. I use Mizuno and would not change, now my favourite channel Ron Chopper and mizuno

  6. I grew up in Australia and have since lived in Japan for the last 30 + years, played golf here for the last 25 .OB is on nearly every hole in most courses here.
But the courses are really nice most of the time ,beautiful settings in the mountains with only nature surrounding, no houses 🏡
    I love it ☝️

  7. Great content again, just proves golf courses dont have to be long to be tough. Just curious Ron, when your putt from 1-2 meters it appears your shoulders become more open? Just an observation. Look forward to the next round. Well done Ron And Joel.

  8. One of the best vids yet, it's almost as much about the hilarious chemistry between Ron and Joel than it is about the golf. Absolutely brilliant and doing all we can to get you guys more
Views from the UK, can't believe we got Hammer before you two 😂.

  9. RONNY !!!!! pls get on the next golf influencers invitational – Aussies represent and you are the man !!!!

  10. Hi boys absolutely loved this👍How good is this course 🍺Every club should have those tee areas.

  11. The 2 guys you played with were as fun as a dentists drill, which made the “3 grand! That’s an expensive way to miss putts” line truly satisfying
