otavo students is one of the most regularly top five rated golf courses in Portugal and today on the channel we’re tackling every inch of it as we’re playing the black T box to see what a six handicap golfer can shoot at one of the top five golf courses in Portugal perfectly golfers welcome back to the channel I’m Al with you guys oitavos Dunes just outside of Lisbon tipping it out it’s not very long I think it’s like 6800 something of the nature everything’s in meters all the information Splash on on the screen as it always is but I’m pumped good at this one um I won’t lie range session was not great but we’re still vibing like we mentioned in the intro it’s often one of the golf courses that sits in the top five I believe it’s number three right now in the country so should be an absolute treat let’s just get straight to the first T box see how we’re hitting them today okay we just had a really terrible driving range session like legitimately Shanks so we’ll see it was like real wet real fuzzy um hopefully not going to get into my head too much about that we got a par four to start things off uh looks like the Fairway wants to kick a little bit down left to right so we’re going to try to kind of take it out towards the tree on the left side here we [Music] go all right great first swing now here’s the real test we got P wedge I was shanking this thing all over the range I don’t really know why but again the grass was like real thick real heavy so maybe that had something to do with it we got 13 9 should be a PE wedge all day a little into the wind yeah I kicked off something hard to the right but that should be pretty good nice and pure I always hate when you get into driving ranges and it’s like not real grass and it’s just like whatever natural grass is nearby and it’s like long and and wet and all the things so we’re vibing okay I think that’s on and good about’s to find out all right we end up just touch short it looks like we may have hit off a little bit of this mound and rolled down to here little up and down little chip 58 o pretty rolly I expected that to stop a lot sooner all right nice little taing to get us going okay hole two is only playing about 330 yards we only need about a three-wood though to get over this bunker that you see in the middle of the Fairway so we’re taking three-wood no need for driver here nice and easy straight towards the bunker hope we carry should be fine and dandy here we go good start turn yeah okay top right side of the Fairway should be fine I’ve got about 85 Ys left here and and uh 50° going to be the number cuz I just don’t think we able to get up over with 50 y obviously with these trees so just going to play a little Punchy guy hopefully let it roll up not a shot we practice a lot so hope it goes well yeah okay got ourselves putt we’ll take that decent speed all right nice smooth start so far tough par three here there is a little more green than what it looks like off the camera on the rightand side but there’s bunkers short bunkers left bunkers right fall off to the right Weeds on the left with pine straw it’s about 200 yards under the wind so we got four iron hopefully this hit a nice good one playing it kind of mid left the pin I don’t know if we’ll be able to get all the way back there today we’ll see [Music] bleedy all right hit well just a little hook to the left oh got to get it up the hill might be a good re if I get it up [Music] hill that is a nasty lip yeah it was like really sandy up in that little slope right there so just wasn’t sure if I needed to hit that like a chip or hit that like a bunker shot it’s kind of tough to say so tough scenes tough lip out go on to the next okay next one up pretty short part four green is little offset to the right but there’s a lot of space left here uh driver does put a little bit of the tightness into play but I’m feeling good with how hitting it so we’re going to keep it out just kind of take a line starting over the top of the bunkers and hopefully it comes just a little bit on the left side let’s see there’s space over there lots of it that was not hit very [Music] well hey there’s a golf shot oo just behind the pin I think there we go got one back great approach all right good to get one back there three great shots well really one okay shot and two great shots we’ve got ourselves part four little dog like the Left 4 130ish yards there is a big Dune kind of up on the right hand side separating this Fairway from the next uh so we’re going to take a line kind of in between that and this left most bunker that you see with driver here we go that ball was hit very poorly right off the heel only went about 250 Ys so we still got 2 40 or so left looks like this pin’s pretty back uh and is Into The Wind as well so going to give it the full number here with the 7 wood let’s see what we get today with this guy well it ran forever but we didn’t hit that well obviously that’s long caught a high I wanted just flew on me do it oh hold on minimal damage after a bad drive and a bad seven wood we take that I will say just kind of looking out this golf course really is uniquely different uh than we played Estella U which if you missed that round you definitely are going to want to go back and check it out we actually played really well best driver day we’ve ever had on the channel That was our first round here in Portugal and we still have two more to go so make sure you sub we’re playing some solid golf here across the pond and uh we got two unbelievable golf hes yet Ray uh weather pending so make sure you st let’s get to the next e box okay another bigger par 4 into the wind here 440 is yards from the back box we got driver just try to keep it inside the central bunkers that you see on the left side of that and uh we’ll see what we get hopefully we put the ball out there nice and well we haven’t hit a good drive since the first shot so see if we can get that walked in here still off the heel golly there in the middle it’s not catch in the middle of the club face hold get down all right we’ll see if we can find that that was hit really well I just pulled it okay so the ball was laying up against this planker so gave myself a little bit of forgiveness here for this up and down um I just wouldn’t think you would find that in a normal Golf Course situation so call it unnatural SL manmade obstruction chip for an up and down okay not bad A little sloppy right there definitely could have had one it was a decent chip just didn’t quite get the ball the way to the hole but such as life move on to our first part five feel been waiting a while for this little dog leg to the right just trying to keep driver over on the right side of the Fairway with hopefully a little draw we’ll see there we go a lot of balance but hidden Center face I didn’t see it down but should be on the left side oh bounced right into the bunker it’s a good shot though okay so we got back Tob back part fives here let’s not forget this part five that was a great set of shots right there uh we got to take this ball just inside the left bunker you see on top of the hill uh looks like everything wants to kick down to the right but if we carry it a little bit over these low trees I think that’s fine too so we’re taking kind of a tight window inside the bunker and just over the left side of these trees let’s see oh get down quick cookie oh Big Bounce forward okay we’re chilling I was going to say if that bounced left we were going to be in trouble all right we still got quite a ways to go here um I like the way I hit that last seven wood so we’re going to take that out again it’s not going to get there we do helping wind but uh it’s not going to get there our line is going to be just over the top of this first tree cuz it kind of goes a little bit left so that’s the idea here expect to SP the draw a little bit that’s pretty good might be a little left but should be fine yeah good distance I just kind of thought that that slope may pull it down left I also pushed it a little bit so really vibing right now friends I hope you guys are really enjoying this round this has been really really cool so far definitely a different VI like we talked about before uh but the conditions are up here they even have like these little like robot mowers I don’t know if you guys saw them in a couple of the holes previously but they’re like little robot mowers all over the place I’ve never seen that before pretty neat m okay good comeb backer for some reason I thought that was going to be a lot slower than it was and it didn’t break either but such as life 170 Ys plugged out about 160 going to take an 8 iron here beautiful view really really cool nice Mo swing see what we get okay oh go good number little too much draw great first putt tap and pars woo feels good I didn’t think I was going to play that well today after the driving range session but so far so good let’s keep that up down to 10 a little bit of an intimidating look here off this T boox cuz it doesn’t look there’s a lot of Fairway but the greenside bunker deep there’s a lot of space left of that uh so the target aiming line we’re going to take is kind of just on the center if not a little inside of it got driver going to keep trusting it feeling really solid feeling real good leave a sub leave a like let we go hitting forarm really well today just a little left but it’s up there it’s a long shot for Par Four but even the ball went pretty straight off the driver it just kind of felt like it came off the heel a little bit so working on it we’re making up for the fact that driver hasn’t really been there for us yet so far today it’s a great four iron it’s probably one of the best four IRS I’ve had in a minut so okay let’s go putt oh almost dropped some long ones [Music] today all right strange golf hole here it’s short par 4 from kind of the top of this Mountain Hill um but the Fairway looks like it kind of just like it’s on a spine runs off left looks like it runs off right it’s not particularly long but I want to lock in the driver swing here we’re into the wind as well so driver’s fine just a nice slow one smooth one little bit of a pause at the top find some good concentration some good connection let’s see what happens here this is a weird golf hole I’m not going to lie I’m kind of scared hold me hold me close that’s better it’s up there it’s left somewhere up on the left side side that was a nice swing though we got 68 yards left I just don’t know how you don’t end up here all the time I mean it’s just a giant Ridge and if you’re right you’re OB so should be fine 58° for 68 y shot lots of green to play with [Music] turn oh it did little too much [Music] Pace oh it didn’t break back wow what a mistake what a mistake another juicy part three 218 yds into the wind middle pin four iron is the call hitting it well we’ve been hitting a little draw with it so let’s just kind of trust that start it off on the right side of the pin hope it comes back a little bit here we [Music] go okay s down stayed out there yeah’s not breaking as much as I want them to close not quite okay long par 4 maybe a part five here I forget what the card said not going to lie but we know we need to kind of go out um just inside the left part of that bunker you see deep the first one in the Fairway U between that and the cart path as we’re looking at it I think maybe even maybe more towards the cart path is fine but left does come into trouble we don’t need to challenge too much just shoot it to the bunkers I think that’s fine oh boy Hammer is is right should be SP yeah this going to be a real long way in from there wow I fell out of balance just want to give you guys a quick little note here as we’re a little more beyond our normal halfway point uh this course is pure it’s in absolutely perfect condition definitely different than a Stella for sure uh but it is really fun it is a little bit of a drive as well over from Lisbon about 45 to an hour about 30 minutes or so from CRA so if you’re kind of doing the coast towards Lisbon definitely come out and get this a whirl otherwise it’s probably worth the Uber to be honest the Ubers in Lisbon are really not that expensive so definitely worth i’ would say to come out and play and beyond that I also just want to give you guys a profound thank you for all the support over the last couple of months we’ve played Turtle Bay in Hawaii capalo Plantation in Hawaii Estella now otava Dunes then we’ve got Quinto D Lago then we got monter Ray we can only do all this because of the love and support you guys have been able to put onto the channel so super big thank you for all of you guys out there who still have a high 200s to get there to an elevated green surrounded by bunkers we don’t want that playing a layup with six iron should leave us about 100 yards into this green let’s see go okay I’m just I’m giving these greens still too much credit on breaking in fact I actually wrote that read that a bit backwards but our speeds are good we love that all right we love the way the game is coming together putting together a good score now we have I think what is going to be the shortest part three in the course this is a par 71 so there will be one more part three than normal they still got four par five so got about 155 flag uh Mish pin we could probably take eight iron and easy and be fine cuz there’s space behind the green here at least there’s a little bit space behind the pin rather but we do have helping wind I just kind of want to swing at this nine iron like I normally would not try to do anything too cute with the eight so full nine here we go yeah pretty good [Music] [Laughter] happens love it loving it wow back to back part 3’s wow and and there are some really cool backdrops to these holes with these Dunes I will say as well I’m not sure how much the camera is going to translate on this but the greens are actually quite small um and the landing spaces are very specific because there’s a lot of ridges in these greens they definitely use the terraform of the land it looked like to really kind of make these scens more difficult so we’re really happy with how we’re shooting it’s some really cool looking hole right here about 175 but right into the wind so we’re taking a little extra with six iron let’s go gosh that’s high but it’s up there I don’t think I’ve ever hit my irons this high and I’m fine with it they just don’t break they just don’t [Music] break weev it all right what you see is what you get here for this part five there’s a little more space left than what it looks like so again not really going to think about that too much it’s just that’s where the Miss is checking a line just in between these deeper bunkers the back side of the Fairway um should be fine to cover this first bunker no problem and I think it’s a pretty big par five too so no ego about trying to get there in two here just keep the score on track come on there’s another Fairway over there we’ll find that that wasn’t hit very well all right we’re not going to fully get there with three-wood uh but we are on the other Fairway so got a clean lie taking the straight towards the bunkers well it’ll work be a good number oh I think that’s really good hope it’s really good come on ignore that three-wood we got that ball up there close hit right off to the side here show you guys the div hit just here rolled up and left knock another biry on it this might be the most birdy we’ve ever had could be okay 17 part four pretty much dead straight on again it’s kind of hard to tell where exactly we have to go for a landing space but I see the flag fluttering out there kind of a little offset in the laps so we’re just going to try take a line just off the right side of this first little grouping of trees um in the front side of the Fairway there’s also trees on the far right side I think that’s going to be way too far right so we’re just going to take a line kind of straight over um right through the tea boxes honestly we see need to fix that slice that was a bad swing go nice scrape ball right off the right side of the trees showing up first one we hit bad that’s really bad got to go oh wow look at the roll out on that that Sur surprised me but it’s clipped nicely all right whole 18 looks like it’s down the hill and a little bit of a dog light to the left where the Fairway May kick little left to right it’s kind of again a lot of blind Landing spaces considering how flat this golf course is got driver just going to take that same smooth swing hopefully cutch to the middle of the face this time trying to keep it just inside this tree to the middle the Fairway let’s see come on let’s finish strong playing really well like really really well okay I kind of saw it over the top of that left Dune where the sand is so hopefully there’s some space cuz it wasn’t hit poorly so we’ll see fild Drew left side of the green by the look of it or at least left of the green somewhere all right there perfectly average golfers that’s a 38 on both sides three birdies and a lot of Fairways actually hit even though we did not hit the ball particularly well but now that I’m kind of thinking about it we never really put ourselves in the trash we only had I think the one Fairway that we were too far right on we ended up being in a different Fairway so really a solid game through and through our approach game was way better here though this time and that means that our putting was also better around this time so 76 is really solid I’m surprising myself with how well we’ve played the last two times we played out in Portugal I don’t expect this to continue qu to the Lago coming up next Monte Ray after that those two are tough and likely at least one will be in the rain if not maybe both if they happen at all we’ll have to kind of wait and see but that’s oitavos dunes really really fun again I believe as we’re recording this is the number three golf course in Portugal definitely top five always happens to be in there so if you’re in the Lisbon area or if you’re visiting Lisbon make the trip out it’s a lot of fun to Pure course and honestly we were able to score take it pretty low so definitely feels like a golf course where you
