Putting the NEW Srixon ZXiR irons to the TEST.

like to see that. We’re here at the Ammy Lacasta Resort and Spa to test out the allnew ZXIR irons from Shirxon. Their first foray into the game improvement market. What I want to see is how these are going to not only compare from a feel perspective, but also from a height perspective because that’s going to help with descent angle and stopping power. [Music] One of the first things I noticed when picking up the ZXIR, there’s really not a huge difference in the sole width. Now, when we think of more game improvement irons, a lot of times those wider soles, you can really start to lose performance through the turf because they’re going to start slowing down the golf club through impact. From a dress, you get this nice flowing shape and it doesn’t seem overly big for how much forgiveness is packed into these golf clubs. So, modern 7 iron, we’re looking at around say 6,000 to 6,500 is a good number. That was rated 6,300 and the height was right around 100 ft, which looking at that shot is going to have a ton of stopping power. That goes nice and high. These are hitting the perfect window for what I would want out of an iron like this. They feel really good. Let’s grab a short iron. Got the pitching wedge here. because they have a progressive groove design that’s going to allow the shorter irons to spin a little bit more. So, I want to see a little bit more spin out of this golf club. Well, that felt really good. So, one of the really interesting things about the new ZXIR is the materials that are used. It is a cast iron, but they’re using I alloy, which from Strixon allows it to be 10% softer than traditional 431. This means that even in an iron that is going to offer a lot of performance, it’s designed to deliver a lot of feel. If you’re looking for game improvement playability, but with a lot of features that you’re going to get in a tour level iron, the ZXIR are a great choice.

Srixon’s first foray into game improvement irons is here with the new ZXiR. Skratch gear editor, Ryan Barath, puts them to the test in this Club in Hand.

The intersection of golf and culture.
