Second shot to the first for the big bloke from Warnable. And look at that judgment of spin and distance. Charmers to complete the two-part here for an opening part. It’s a blemish first up for the twotime champ. It’s a really difficult flag to get close to that front left section today. There’s almost like a a little hill just in the distance from our angle. Front left from the players back on. Should slide a little to his right. Birdie’s on two and three. He was nine back to start and he’s seven back now. Get back to Mark Leechman. Great shot into here, wasn’t it? This for Birdie. Yeah, rock solid. How he got his ball to stay there with this pin you were alluding to earlier. Alli, second shot into four now for Rory coming off backto-back birdies. Would love to be on the fairway for a touch more control because if this gets hot out of this rough light will go long and that’s a very prudent play. Here’s Hatsune. His second shot to one. So, it’s where you want to be. It’s pretty well judged from down there. Quite a steep rise. Beautifully [Applause] judged. Could be a hot start from Leeman. He has gone low to win on Sundays before. Back to one with with Satsune. What have they done with the greens, Nick, overnight? Oh, just coming up the slope a little short. So they’ve double cut the greens again and rolled them and they’re now running close to 13 on the stint meter. So basically almost a foot faster than yesterday. So keeping your ball below the hole is going to be at a premium. It’s deceptive especially uh seen a lot of people on downhill putts leave them short as well because they’re kind of getting talked out of the speed. That’s a nice par and a good up and down from Elvis Smiley. You’re actually not used to those really severe downhill putts as we watch Maroya clean up for his par. Nicely done. Looks good with the putter early on. On the next putt to come even after a beautiful shot there. That is Royal Melbourne. That’s a par from Mark Leechman. That’s another look at that birdie putt that he had. Left it on the high side. Lacking in control to this front flag. Elvis Smiley. A little bit of an angle from there, but it’s how that ball’s going to react. It was good for weight. Just a little bit offline, but safe shot into the green from Smiley on the second. Maroy cleaning up for his par here at five. Still two under through five. Maroy for his data there. Here’s Davis Bryant. Haven’t seen a whole lot of the American this week, but going along nicely at five under his second shot to four. It’s a nice wind into this pin. But you also have Hello. Hello. And a two on four to that flag. Seriously, man. Such a disciplined player. Smiley, you have to be here. Same two with this. The second at six for Maroy. That’s a shot where you have no choice. You have to take it on. That’s nicely done. Just a little bit right for safety. What can he do from here? That club is going to have to go very steep up and down. See, it looked like that ball must have actually come into the into the bank of the bunker into the face of the bunker and probably rolled back down. It’s just one of them. You really concentrate on the pace. You could tell this 10 ft out. You could tell. You can always tell with Rory for boi such an awkward stance in that front right bunker. He’s always on the back foot quite literally from in there. All right. tried to keep the Rory dream alive after a bogey at seven. Shot into eight. Back left pin. Good flag here at the short par four. Lots of things you don’t want to do to it. That’s what you do want to do. You could tell that this was just a gentle little draw with a lobber. And watching it go in. James, you get Rory Maroy on site. We go to Royal Melbourne. Get a bit of contour here to negotiate. Where is that going to finish? It’s going to keep moving left. Alex and unfortunately at along with his hopes might just be slipping away with that putt for Rory Maroy. It’s at this stage of the day everything needs to fall for him from now on. So many players ahead of him and some issues off the tea. Long pitch back to this flag which in Lee had an eagle through a pin not far from their short par four. It’s a hard shot from that little ball there. You’ve got such a steep slope. It’s a nice win for it. A little bit off the left, but you can’t be greedy here. It’s perfect for Adam Scar. Absolutely picture perfect. Could have not draw a better picture here. The former pro himself learned his craft at the Gimpy Golf Course in Queensland. How aggressive will he be? [Applause] Crowd love it. And that’s why a kick in birdie aggressive enough. The 14 under. Minu Lee up the hill on seven. Can he get the distance right? Been move 140 here. This has gone way up in the air. Good line. Very similar to Adam Scott. Able to pull the string at pin high there. That’s a big swing from the left here for Scotty. Easy to judge to perfection. Full shoulder turn from Adam Scots. Finds a birdie from long range. and he’s within three as a 16-year-old way back in 2005. He’s made a mess of the 13th with his approach shot. So, this a birdie attempt from off the green. Should be able to get out of there. Nicely done. He’s had some adventures on this hole this week. He’s had some adventures in general, hasn’t he? He has. Air swings, banana peels. Just great to see him here and we look forward to seeing him next year at Kingston Heath as well. Signed on for the two years. Fantastic work by everyone at Golf Australia in securing Rory Maroy. the man of the moment, man of the week, has been extremely generous with his time. He went out and played five par threes in the sand belt early in the week for us here and a broadcast platform. Six under round when others were struggling. As you can see, his number hasn’t changed until now. Eagle parted 14. So that holds ahead. Eagles are possible. We see Aaron Cochril who lost his card on the DP World Tour and then got it back at Q school down the hill here at 16. Feels good. Couple of birdies in a row of the day. World class from down there. Yes, he can. Come on. The hills of Royal Melbourne are alive with the sound of Australian golf fans and Cam Smith is the outright leader. Front right, pins back left on 17. Made some thrilling birdies on this hole the last couple of days from the right rough off the tea. The galleries haven’t left him. Rory Maroy. Can he prompt a roar here for birdie on 17? Hasn’t had a birdie since the eighth. Mark him down for another one. He loves the par five 17. Let’s catch up with Elvis Smiley. Two good shots to here at 14. This for Eagle on that back edge. [Applause] 31 inside the top 20. It’s not a good angle with this pin, but never fear. He loves the pin in that back rider on the 18th. He’s bied it the last two days. the par three. Still haven’t had a hole in one on this hole this week. You win a BMW M5 Touring if you make a one. There’s a two for Leash. [Applause] It’s coming. A grand stand finish for the world number two. Couple of players from up here missed this right. So pulled a couple today. Oh, what a roll. Nar Peterson right back in the picture at 13 under. Serat the young American birdie at 14. The scoring opportunities loom large right now on the back n don’t they 134 15 17 good shots play anywhere just like that did for Sarah who had to work a little harder for that than he’d like at 14. Finds the bottom nonetheless. So two scoring chances gone for Adam Scott. Big one here for Mark Leechman in front of Victorian fans. Have to settle for a birdie. He’ll have loads of friends and family out watching this week. Nine. Much more fruitful than the front for Leeman. Back to near guard Peterson here. So good. Come on, baby. Oh, look out. Mard Peterson nearly pulling out the eagle at 13. He’s closing hole. He’s setting up to hit a massive cut here. Watch this bend. Here it comes. This is either gone or glory for Mark Lee. Oh, that putt is going to have some break on it. about 280 off the te maybe ahead of him to Elvis with half of Melbourne ahead of him here from the front edge of 17. What a great effort. What a great effort. Somewhere in between is what they needed. Can hear the hum. What a weekend he’s had. Yeah. So impressive. Tough first day, but shot five under second round to make the cut. Lots flying back in his home country [Applause] from all the way back on the front edge to here for Elvis Smiley. Good two for Birdie there at 17. Here’s Leechman. Draw for the left-hander. Another one of those fun cuts. Stay there, guys. Stay there. Over the sprinkler head and on. [Applause] It’s tracking. It’s in for Smith. And they’ll go up the 72nd hole. All tied at 15 under. Tied for the miracle. His winning hopes. Very good effort. Still rolling. And that’s the call. [Applause] It’s got some speed about it and it’s not dead yet. What a pass. Rard Peterson forced in at 15 under. His marker has a quote on it. It is what it is and not what it’s for. It’s a mantra he lives by. A 10-footer is a 10-footer. No matter where you are, trust the process. And boy, did he there. [Applause] [Music] It’s not to be for Cam Smith and Rasmus. Near guard Peterson is the Australian Open champion with an up and down and of incredible proportions and he’s off to Augusta in 2026. Six.

  1. What a shame golf Australia doesn't have anyone that can edit properly. What shocking final round highlights

  2. There are people who are rocket 🚀 engineers and doctors looking for cures for diseases, and then there's people who are interested in golf. The contrast in IQ in humanity is mind-blowing 🤯

  3. I've seen some pretty bad highlight reels, and the PGA Tour is famous for them, but this one is the worst!

  4. I just don’t get it. 3/4’s of this reel is Rory McIlroy, who is clearly out of the running to win the tournament. Yet hardly any of the front runners are highlighted. I could give a rat’s ass that Rory is eight shots back with one hole to play.

  5. It's great to be an Aussie. Cam Smith, what a champion. Gave it his best and could have forced a playoff but even in defeat, behaved like a true sportsman and what a round of golf he played. All the players gave us a great open. Always great to watch players like McIlroy. Even better to hear the Aussie crowd get behind him but even better still that Royal Melbourne was just too tough for him. Rory is a true fighter and a great golfer, but I bet he puts more into it next time round. The sand belt almost broke him. Great to see Rasmus acknowledge the pain Cam was in when he missed that second last put. Not even a tiny smile on Rasmus's face. Just condolence. You know Rasmus has come second before, felt that sting, and even though he was cheering inside he was also courteous of the pain in Cams face. Very professional and great sportsmanship. Loved to watch it.
Now if only our coverage could get it right. I'm not a journalist in any way and even I didn't miss these obvious things.

  6. Thank goodness you didn't burden us with seeing much of the winner during his round. Rory finishing whatever was the real news.

  7. Neergaard showed great character on the last hole from a bad lie and sunk a clutch putt. He deserved to win. Cam Smith was there to the end and gave it all, but I thought his approach iron to the 18th was too conservative.
It is noted that Rory was given all the coverage yes, and that happens a lot in tournaments where he's not even in contention. It has to stop.
