Welcome to the South Florida Showdown brought to you by the Golf Girl Games. Over the next five episodes, four girls will compete in a mix of golf and non-golf challenges. Each challenge is worth points and the contestants with the most points will move on. There will be surprise eliminations along the way, and only two girls will make it to the finale. The winner will earn an allpense paid trip to Black Desert Resort in St. George, Utah, where they’ll play golf, relax at the spa, and experience everything the resort has to offer. Now, let’s introduce you to our contestants. My name is Phoebe. I’m 24 and I’m from Charlotte, North Carolina. My friends would describe me in three words as she’s a spaz. I started golf when I was about 8 years old. My dad got me started in it because this is also my fun fact, but I have 10 younger siblings. Six of us are girls. And somebody told my dad when he started playing golf, they were like, “Golf is a really good sport for girls scholarships.” And he was like, “Well, I have like six of those.” I played four years of collegiate golf at UNC Asheville, small D1 school in the mountains. I’m definitely very confident in myself because I feel like with everything, confidence is all between the ears and I got it on lock. My name is Ashley Huffman. I am from Panamera Beach, Florida and I am 22. I started golfing my freshman year of high school and then I played four years of college golf. Am I competitive? I would say I’m a little more laid-back recently doing social media golf, but I heard that there’s a prize at the end. I don’t know what it is, so I’m going to turn up my competitiveness to try to win that prize. What’s my game plan for this week? I think I’m just going to go out there, talk with my golf clubs. If I’m happy, I know that I’ll be happy with my results. So, just staying in the moment and maybe kicking someone’s butt. Hi guys, my name is Erica Baker. I’m 21 years old and I’m originally from Chicago, Illinois, but now I live in West Palm, Florida. I started golfing ever since I could hold a club. I’m a huge daddy’s girl, so I just wanted to be just like him. I played competitively all throughout middle school and high school. I’m very confident that I could definitely win this competition. I know it’s going to be a lot of hard work, but nothing that I can’t handle. So, my game plan coming in is to kill them with kindness. I’m going to be super sweet to everybody and just hopefully I can make some best friends along the way. And if I win, it’s just a cherry on top. My name is Lily Schneider. I’m 22 years old and I’m from Grand Rapids, Michigan. My friends would describe me as crazy, crazy, and crazy. I played golf in high school and then I played golf at Marian University in Indianapolis. I am competitive with everything except golf. I think my expectations are pretty low because I don’t think I’m that good at golf to begin with. I’m just here for fun. My game plan coming into this is to just not get eliminated first. If I can make it through that first elimination, then I’m good. Hey girls, welcome to the South Florida Showdown. I’m your host CC Andalfo. Within the next week, you’ll be competing in on the course and off the course challenges for the grand prize of an all expense paid trip to the Black Desert Resort in Utah. You’ll be able to bring a plus one. You’ll get spa treatment and golf tea time. You’ll also get $2,500 cash. That was not the prize I was expecting. I thought I was going to get a couple hats to come home with. Pressure is on. Oh my gosh. I’ve heard of Black Desert Resort before. It is so beautiful. I’m so excited. And there’s a cash prize. There’s a lot more on the line than I thought. For episode one, we are starting with a non-golf challenge. The girls will be randomly divided into two teams and we’ll compete in four obstacle course challenges. Each challenge is worth two points, giving one point to each contestant on the winning team. After the obstacle course, we’ll head to the golf course for a six-hole match where everyone is competing against each other. Now, let’s hop into the first obstacle course challenge. We’re going to pick partners by this bowl. Each piece of paper has either a one or two on it. Whoever both gets twos, you guys are teammates. Okay, we’ll do one and then we’ll have you pick. Guys, I’m nervous. I’m nervous. So this morning me and Ashley had a little conversation that whoever takes home the big cash is taking the other one to the Black Desert Resort. Feeling some type of way two one. Perfect. I think they’re going to be some competition for sure. I have full faith in us though. I was really hoping to get her because we were both the vision one athletes. I know the mentality I said I wasn’t that competitive. I’ve had a flip switch in my brain and I’m here to win. We’re here to win. Our first obstacle is the kayak race. Each contestant has to paddle down the canal, touch the far wall, and return. Both teammates times are combined. And the team with the lowest total time earns two points, one point each. I just found out that we’re kayaking and I definitely was a little freaked out. I just know what lives in there, so I’m scared. What lives in there? Just the sharks. Oh, sharks. Gator and like bull sharks. So, like the most aggressive ones. Okay, Phoebe, you’re first. Oh, walking into the kayak, I was I just didn’t really know what to expect. I’d done it before in high school, but I was like, I don’t really think I know how to like go fast doing this. On your marks, get set, go. She’s going pretty fast, actually. She’s doing really good. I hope she doesn’t run into the wall. Go, Phoebe. Wait, Loki, why am I kind of moving? You’re doing so good. I thought she was doing great. I thought I was going to do way worse. Let’s go, teammate. Tap that and turn it around. I’m about to break the boat. Come on. Backwards. Let’s go. That’s my teammate right there. Okay, she’s currently at 40 seconds today. It’s final stretch. Hit the wall. Okay, the official time is 1 minute and 3 seconds. That’s That was impressive. I was I was I felt like I was moving. We’re doing good. I was like, wait, we’re going to do someone from the other team next. Do you either of you want to go first? I’ll go. Okay. All right, guys. We have Lilia going second. All right, Lilia, you’re trying to be a minute and 3 seconds. We’re locked it. I’m getting into the kayak and I’m trying to act like everything’s okay, but inside I’m really scared. Okay, 3 2 1 go. Go, Lily. You got this. Oh, she’s cruising. She’s going fast. I was impressed. She was handing it like a pro. You know, she didn’t seem scared. Even though she said like she felt it inside, you could not tell. Oh my gosh. I’m scared of this wall. Nice, Lily. Nice. That part was hard for me. She’s got this. That was nice. 34 seconds, Lily. You got this. Come on, Lily. 49. Push it. Push it. Push it. You’re so close. I just heard that me and Phoebe are really close on time, so I am trying to kick my butt into gear. Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go. You just have to touch it. Slow incoming. Touch it. Okay, stop. Okay, Lilia was at a minute and 1 second. Yes, good job, Lilia. I just got back and I found out my time was a minute and 1 second and Phoe’s was a minute and three. So, I really hope we can pull through on this. Okay, so up next is Ashley. Their times are going to be added together at the end. Okay, Ashley, make me proud. Wait, I actually have no clue how to do this. Go. You went really fast. Kind of looks like a professional over there. I’m going to win. 16 seconds. Go, go, go. You have 20 seconds. I’m sitting here and I’m thinking, “Oh my gosh, when is this over?” You have 52 seconds. You’re almost there. Go hard. Go, Ashley. Be careful into the wall. All right. Her time is 59. How did I do that? Did the technique work? Ashley, she was lowballing herself the whole time. She’s like, “Guys, I’m going to take 4 minutes. Like, I’m falling in.” And then she comes out hot with a 57 and breaks under a minute. I had no technique. Her technique was go fast. I’m never doing that again. Team two has their final score locked in at 2 minutes and 2 seconds. So, if Erica could get her time really low, they could have a chance of winning against team two. My heart is beating out of my chest. I’m like, I’m going to fall. I’m like, something’s going to bump my boat from underneath me. I’m I don’t know. I just was not feeling it. Go. Okay. Okay. Good start. She is. She’s moving. Nice. The harder part The hard part is turning around. Yeah. Okay. Okay. I know. She’s really scared. She’s having That’s That was a smooth turn. Yeah, that one’s smooth. Oh This is bad. She might be taking her time a little bit. What’s the time at? 41 seconds. Whoever wins this gets two points. That’s a big advantage from the beginning. Go Erica. You look good doing it. 58 seconds. Okay. Hey, that was the best like direction. You know what I mean? Like you ended up in the best spot. Okay, your time was a minute and 5 seconds coming in at a total of 2 minutes and 6 seconds between you guys. So that means team two took the win for this challenge. Woo! We knew we were going to win. I kind of had a feeling. I was like, “Okay, we’re we’re on the we we’re on the same like mentality today.” We weren’t feeling great after losing, but obviously I knew Lily and I there’s still more challenges to come. Obstacle two is the water fill race. Both teammates start on the same side. One teammate runs, fills their bucket with water, and pours it in. Then the other teammate goes. They have three minutes and whichever team fills their bucket the most earns two points, one point each. Yeah, I was not expecting to wake up and do sprint intervals. Go. I think I started out so hot. Like when I was first like that first run, I was like, I’m actually maybe a track star. Three runs in it started to hit me. I really I really started to struggle. I made it 49 seconds. I thought I was the only one getting winded and then I looked around and I felt like everyone was kind of slowing down. We tried to push through. It was just not happening. Do not put that water in. That’s the longest 3 minutes of my entire life. Oh my gosh. No wonder I chose golf. Okay, so I think we can all see the winner is the red bucket. So that means two points go to team two. We’re 0 and2. We’re feeling like a lot of football teams right now and it’s not great. We’re still feeling optimistic though. All right, we’re going to do a team huddle over here. Yeah, BRB, guys. We’ve held the lead. Yeah, for the last two challenges, you know, doesn’t mean anything. You’re right. It all comes down to be still, too. We’re going to sweep. We can’t fold. We’re going to sweep them. Can’t fold like a lawn chair. We We don’t get comfortable. We stay on our toes. Cover that. For our third challenge, we’re doing a water balloon toss. Each team gets two balloons total. The team that keeps their balloons unpopped the longest earns two points, one point each. The smaller ones are less likely to pop. So, I picked up the smallest one first, knowing that it’s less likely to pop being so full. So, that was my strategy on picking the water balloon. I just caught my first water balloon and I’m really scared because my depth perception is off and I like can barely see it as it’s like coming to me cuz I don’t have my glasses on. Oh no. I thought it was in my hands and the next second there was water up in my face. It looks like a good catch. It looked good. This is Oh my gosh. We just won. Took home the dub, but like expected. So, we’re 0 and three. Chat, we’re cooked. Our final obstacle is tugofwar. Whichever team wins the poll earns two points, giving one point to each contestant. We have a strategy. Okay, so if you’ve ever seen Squid Game, we just need to take all of our anger out. Yes, we’re losing the other two challenges. We’re coming back. On your mark, get set, Hey, top. Literally 0.1 second into it, we’re done. I think I blinked and like the rope was up in my hands. We have four points each, which is good because we’re on our way to Black Desert Resort. After the obstacle course challenges, Ashley and Phoebe each have four points, and Lily and Erica are still sitting at zero. We’re now heading to the golf course for a six-hole tip scramble. Everyone is competing for themselves, but on each hole, a tea will be flipped to decide the teams of two. Those teams will play a scramble for that hole, and whichever team wins earns one point for both players. At the end of all six holes, the player with the most points will earn two points towards their overall score. and second place will earn one point. We are playing at the beautiful Fountains Country Club in Lakew Worth, Florida. Thank you so much for having us out. Now, let’s hop into the golf match. All right. Who wants to be the flipper? For this hole. OG teams. OG. OG. Some things never change. Well, I’m just going to hit it straight and hope for the best. Nice try. Absolutely. Nice. I was about I couldn’t remember who. And then also don’t walk Sorry, can I say don’t walk in front of here because the shot tracer. Okay. Yeah. Smart. First T- shot. I actually had no nerves. I’ve been in front of my camera before. So, just a little down the middle. I think I’m going to go with that 150 up there. All right, partner. All right. Here we go. No pressure. No pressure, guys. When I’m nervous, my southern accent, my fake southern accent comes out. Nice. Okay. Pipe. Perfect draw to the 150, you know. Sure. Sure. Perfect. I just hit my first T- shot. It wasn’t the prettiest thing in the world, but it did the job. And I didn’t miss it. So, we’re counting our wins where we can. How How bad am my sweating skill from one like my face? Like, it doesn’t look like it. You’re glistening. It’s a glow. So, I’m just going to try hit a nice draw. We’ll just see what we’re working with. I’m a bit sweaty. So, yeah. How am I supposed to follow three great drives? You got it. You got this. Good shot, ma’am. Perfect. No pressure. All of the girls just smoke their driver. So, I’m walking up to this tea a little scared because I also want to smoke my driver and be up with them. I think my strategy here is just grip it and rip it. Yeah. Perfect. No, it’s working. Go get out of the bunker. Yes. Perfect. Works. Shake it off. It’s all good. First drives done. We did a They were They were pretty They were pretty nice. We’re not in a team, but we’re probably going to be on a team soon. We’re fremies. Lily and I have a 150 shot in. My plan here is to just kind of stick it to the middle. Whoops. Oh, good kick. Kick out. Well, whoops. So, Erica’s ball went a little left, so I really need to stick this. Oh, wow. Nice. That works. Perfect. We’re close. We’re putting. So, we’re going to tie this hole, though. We’re not going to lose it. Tie. Well, obviously if we can get that birdie, we’re going to get that birdie. But we will not be getting worse in par. I think we just positive mindset always. Pressure’s on, Phoebe. I actually still don’t really know what that means, but apparently people say that when you like go back and forth, but I don’t know why it’s ham. I think I have a little bit of a natural draw, so we’re just going to go right side of this bunker and see what happens. Beautiful. Nice balls. That works with the little draw situation. So, we are having a good luck at winning this hole. My 3-wood um usually goes on the ground, but see Phoebe did outd me by that much. Which one’s my ball? Hey, Phoebe. I just had to go digging in like the swamp over there to find my ball. Okay, my 3-wood is iffy. Sometimes I can pipe it straight, but other times my 3-wood, I call it the roly poly. Um, five out of 10 times it goes on the ground, but it works out. Do you have any thought processes here? I feel like just I think I’m just going to get it up there. You know, I feel like threewoods are always, at least for me, it’s like a Actually, I think this is a fivewood, four wood, like your go-to.
