Team Europe Prepared for Bethpage Black First Tee with Virtual Reality | 2025 Ryder Cup

[Applause] [Applause] How you guys going? Good, thanks. Uh Not much. Hey Ryan, how are you? Good. How are you? This year we got the call. Luke reached out. It turns out he’s a huge fan of VR. He had heard about its training applications in some other sports. And that triggered the thought for Luke. Is there any way that we could use VR to help the team prepare for this year’s RDER Cup? How can we kind of get these players to experience first Beth Page? If you’re a rookie and you’ve never experienced it, you know, it’s hard to put into words. It’s hard to describe. But with VR, I think you could sort of at least immerse yourself in something that’s very realistic to what you’re going to feel. And, you know, that’s a great training way to train. He knew that it was going to be critical for the team to just really try to feel what it’s like to stand on that first tea box um to take that edge off of what it would ultimately be like. Good morning everyone. Welcome to the Bent Page Black Course. Representing Europe, Shane Lowry. We created a very dense crowd around the first tea. We included some of the chanting audio which isn’t available in the public game because it might be a little too distracting for our players. Wait the white flag cuz this is our home. This is our course. This is a tournament for the big boys. We tried to kind of make it as distracting as possible to get, you know, what Luke wanted out of it. For me personally, I was very very lucky in that I got to actually be the person to deliver the end product to the team. Well, I mean, so in terms of the the build, that’s pretty pretty accurate. It should be exactly the same. Yeah. Stance and crowd, you know, number of people. All right, here I’ll go. I’ll hit one. I’ll actually hit one. Yeah. I mean, it’s like enjoy it. Pretty realistic. We really looked at it as like this is a piece of history and and we get to be the first ones to ever kind of try to do this and have some sort of impact like this. And uh you know given the result worked out well, like we’re really hopeful that this becomes something that that more teams do in the future and that it does become something that keeps on you know pushing things forward. Oh. Oh, that’s sick. It’s just going to give us an opportunity to sort of feel like before we get there on Friday, we’ve already experienced it. We already had a sense of what it’s going to be like. The fact that the Europeans were willing to kind of bet on this technology and and allow us to be a part of it is an honor that we’ll we’ll never forget. The first tee could have been quite daunting for Team Europe at Bethpage Black, but fortunately for them Captain Luke Donald had seen it coming and enlisted @GOLFPLUSVR to recreate what was to come in virtual reality.

  1. Very cool to see the Pro's on the same thing I play all the time, Luke lmk if they want to hone their skills 😉

  2. Strange considering I’ve seen quite a few real golfers say this messes with their real golf swing, plus them not using a weighted club attachment as well.
