I’ve reviewed close to a dozen pairs of Payntr shoes, and generally speaking, I love them. I love the brand. I love what they stand for, and I love what they have built in a relatively short amount of time. But these, the Rainshedder RS1 collaboration with Forresters, They might be my favorite Payntr shoes yet. What makes them so great? Let’s talk about it. Simply put, Forrester’s has been crushing it lately. If you’re not familiar with foresters, they are a heritage golf brand dating back to like the 50s, if you were a kid in like the 70s, 80s, maybe early 90s, and the Pacific Northwest, there’s a good chance you were wearing Forrester’s rain gear. Well, guess what? The team behind Jones golf bags, the ones that revitalize that historic brand, they’re now doing the same thing for Forresters, and they are crushing it. It’s only been a few months since they released their first collection. But the range hoodie, excellent. Their waterproof rain gear, also excellent, but these, their collaboration with Payntr shoes, might be the best item yet. And, uh, I don’t know why I’m surprised, but I’m kind of, I keep being surprised by foresters. Usually when new brands come out of the game, It takes a little while to hit their stride, but everything I have tested from them has been so good. But what makes these shoes so good. Let’s talk about them. First off, I mean, these are probably, like, the hypiest golf shoes of the fall. I’ve been seeing these everywhere. They’ve been getting so much love. They’ve done a really good job with their marketing strategy. What I really like about them is they are a true collaboration. They’re taking the best of painter, and they’re taking the best of foresters, and they have put them into this shoe. So if you’re looking at the shoe from, like, here down, it really looks like the 87 SC silhouette. They’ve got their high quality leather. They’ve got the perforated vents right here. They have their nitrogen midsole, it all feels very reminiscent of painter. But when you get to the top part of the shoe, that’s where full waterproof foresters comes in. So first off, they took a little neoprene booty. They slid that in there, so that’s going to help give you an extra layer against the elements against water, keep things a little bit warmer. And then on top of that, they added this zippered shroud. So you unzip it, you tie it up, you zip it back up, and now you’ve got a truly waterproof golf shoe that is very reminiscent of the old Nike air bandons that were discontinued a few years ago. And this is an important thing for a lot of people. Yes, so many golf shoes are waterproof, but there really hasn’t been a good, true, like, all season, wear it in the rain, wear it in the mud, Pacific Northwest Shoe. And considering both foresters and Payntr are based here in Portland, Oregon, you know, they’re kind of the perfect people to do it. Recently, in a video, I talked about the true ascent shoe. So true, another Pacific Northwest brand, they took a little bit of a different take on the kind of all weather shoe. So theirs, instead of being entirely dedicated to golf, with, like, the full spikes, the zipper shroud, the, like, tour level silhouette. Theirs is more of an all day all weather golf shoe that you can wear on a hiking trail. You can wear to the mountains, you can wear out camping, and you can wear them on the golf course. So I’ve really enjoyed those shoes as well. And when I first talked about them, it was before I knew this shoe existed. And so I mentioned that those were kind of the heir apparent to the air abandoned. Well, now, having tested these, it is clear these are the ones that should really get that distinction. So they look cool. They’ve got great waterproof features. How do they perform on the course? So good. These are, surprisingly, the most comfortable painter shoes I have ever worn. I don’t know if it’s something about this booty. I don’t know if it’s something about my foot in the shoe, but whatever it is, these feel so good. I put them on, I walked 18. I did not have a single hotspot, not a single hint of rubbing the wrong way, or a single hint of a blister. They have been good to go right out of the box, which I really didn’t expect that to be the case. especially for a spike tour level shoe with all the extra waterproofing type stuff, I expected something to rub weird or be uncomfortable, and that just has not been the case with these. On top of that, performance is pure painter. So these don’t have the carbon fiber plate that a lot of painters’ shoes have, but honestly, that’s not something you’re going to notice or really care about. They do have the nitrogen footbeds. So essentially what that means is every time you take a step or every time you plant, take a golf swing, it is going to kind of subtly rebound up. With the goal of just taking a little bit less exertion on your part. Now, one step, one swing, probably not going to make that much of a difference, but doing that over the course of four or five hours over the course of 18 holes. It all adds up to give you some performance gains over your round. One other nice touch is on the insole. They have kind of the forester’s tartan. We’ve seen this design across some of their other apparel items. So I love the fact that they did something kind of unique that ties it into the rest of their line. Now, both of the rounds where I tested these shoes were wet weather on wet courses, and I did not have a single instance where I slipped, where I felt like I didn’t have traction, where I didn’t feel stable. These have been rock solid. In part because they’re using the Tour Flex Pro spike, which is really kind of the gold standard of removable spikes. I can’t say enough good things about these shoes. Both of the rounds that I played, I had multiple people commenting on these. I had people saying everything from… What are those? Those look cool to, Are those the new forester shoes? Those look awesome. So people in the know respect it? And people that don’t know what they are also were curious and respected it. Everything about these shoes feels well built, and I appreciate the subtle touches. So the fact that on one side, you’ve got foresters on the bottom, a different design on the bottom of the other shoe, You have a little pop of yellow with the heel tab to help you get the shoes on and off. And, of course, you’ve got the Forresters’ logo. Not to mention the obvious uniqueness of the booty and the shroud across the front. These shoes retail for $220, so not cheap golf shoes, especially for kind of a niche shoe. These aren’t a shoe that you’re going to wear all day, every day, everywhere you go. In fact, for a good portion of you, you probably don’t need these shoes at all. If you’re in Florida, California, Arizona, if you play desert golf, and you never go out in the rain, these are not going to be the shoes for you. But if you are in the Pacific Northwest, you’re playing year round. You’re down abandoned all the time. You’re in the northeast, and you’re willing to brave the elements when your course is open, and you need a shoe that’s going to allow you to do that. This is that shoe. These are great. They perform, they’re comfortable, they’re unique. They hit all of the boxes. So, yeah, this is one of the best golf shoes I’ve reviewed this year, if not reviewed ever. Honestly, like, they’re a shoe that I’ve just enjoyed wearing. You can see that they’re dirty, they’ve gotten some wear, but also based on materials. I think they’re gonna be pretty easy to clean up as well. Although, with this shoe, I think, you know, they’re built for the mud. They’re built for inclement weather. And so having some of those battle scars with some of the mud and everything on there, I think that’s just part of the charm of these shoes. So anyway, shoes won’t be for everyone, but they will be for a lot of people. Painter, continuing to do unique things in the Gulf World, continuing to hit their stride, each year, the products are just getting better and better, and Forresters, they’ve only been around or rearound for the last, like, three, four months, and everything I’ve tested from them has been excellent. So I’m excited to see what is next from both of these brands. And if you’re in the market for a cool, well fitting tour waterproof golf shoe, look no further, I think you should pick up a pair of these. My name’s Sean Ogle, I’m the founder of this thing, here, breaking idea. We talked about cool golf products, and cool golf courses. You got some value out of this, maybe hit subscribe, drop comment, do all the things, and, yeah, we’ll see you on the next video. If you’re not sure what to watch next, go watch this video, where I lay out my favorite golf shoes of all time. I think you’ll be into it. Also, that was before these were around. So just know, these would make the list. Have a good day. Peace.
