In this golf lesson, Eric Cogorno and Craig Hanson reveal the most important position in the golf swing that 95% of amateurs miss.

They explain:
• The proper hand position just past impact
• How to create shaft lean and compression
• The role of arm rotation from the elbow down
• How to compress the golf ball with crossover power

You’ll learn the exact hand position used by PGA Tour players, golf drills to develop separation and lag, and how proper hand rotation generates effortless speed and power in your game.

What You’ll Learn:
• The exact hand position every great ball striker achieves just past impact
• How to create proper shaft lean (12 degrees on iron shots) for maximum compression
• Arm rotation technique from the elbow down while keeping your tricep connected
• How to compress the golf ball by releasing the club correctly through impact
• Golf drills to develop separation and crossover power in your swing
• Why the left hand under the chin with a 90-degree angle is critical for elite ball striking
• Golf lesson insights from Johnny Miller on the left thumb’s role in acceleration
• How PGA Tour players like Adam Scott and Tiger Woods achieve this position
• The proper release pattern that creates lag, speed, and consistent contact
• Why hooking the ball when first practicing this release is actually a positive sign

The most important position probably in the golf swing for amateur golfers here when the club is parallel to the ground here. What we’re seeing is these one, two, three fingers of the glove hand. And this is an indicator that they have released the club and rotated the club effectively. Now, what are we seeing with amateur golfers here? We’re seeing the left hand on top. And if you are a left hand on top player, you’re probably not going to reach your potential here. This is a key element here for great ball striking. What we need to have a look at is three checkpoints. Yeah. Basic, clear, and simple. When the left hand is underneath the chin here, under with the logo directly under the chin, we’re creating a right angle and then shave lane. And then we’re going to rotate these fingers slightly through the golf ball. This is the key to storing up your power, storing up your energy to get shaft length compression just to move through the ball like the great players

  1. This is awesome! I noticed when I'm casting and throwing the club out with my trail hand from the top of my backswing it's impossible for me to get into that release position post impact. I can't practice that shaft parallel checkpoint enough, thanks a ton Craig and Eric!
