Machrihanish Golf Club | Top 100 Golf Course | West Coast Of Scotland
Well, good morning everybody and welcome to my second round of golf here in Scotland. Today I am at Macraannanish Golf Club on the Kintire Peninsula. An absolutely stunning golf course and we’re going to start off right here on number one cuz this could be the best opening T-OT anywhere. We’ve got to hit it across the beach Atlantic Ocean right there out to the fairway par4. All right, number three. I wanted to film this one cuz you can see that red flag right there. That’s the 16th green. That’s a par three. So, we’re hitting across this green out to a fairway with the Atlantic Ocean back there behind us. Macrohannis Golf Club was designed and built in 1876 and it was actually built by the members of Preswick Golf Club because those members were trying to show the golfers up around St. Andrews and Edinburgh that the western coast of Scotland had fantastic links land as well, that you could build worldclass golf clubs. And the funny thing is that Macrohannanish when it was built was built as a 12-hole golf course. Why? Because Preswick was only a 12-hole golf course. When Preswick hosted the first Open Championships, it was only 12 holes. So, I guess those members felt like if they had 12 holes, all Macrohannish needed was 12 holes. Later, just like Preswick, old Tom Mars came down and redesigned Macraanish into a 18hole fantastic golf course. I was able to play with a member on this day. His name was Ari and he was great. And so, I’m going to get out of the way. I want you to enjoy the views here. Look at this golf course and remember that there are other places in Scotland besides St. Andrews where you can get worldclass Lynx off. Boy, I’ll take that. Woohoo! Woo! So if you like really smoky scotch, which obviously you don’t, if you did, it all comes from that island right there. Gotcha. That island is entirely Pete. Okay. So they got those whiskey in there. Well, that’s a wrap on an absolutely fantastic golf experience. This golf course is unbelievable. And if you folks are, you know, want to do something different than, you know, the St. Andrews, all that stuff, and want to come to Skyland, you really ought to come down here and check out Macraannanish. And like I said, it wasn’t that far away from Preswick. We did a ferry over here uh onto the aisle of Aaron. So, a really, really nice area. Tomorrow, I’m playing Macrohannis Dunes, which is right next door. Um, and we’re going to go. I’d like to thank the staff, uh, the golf professional, Jenny, for having me. Uh, it’s, uh, always very nice. They’re so welcoming. Um, and I want to thank them very much. Their hospitality was great. So, look forward to seeing y’all when I play Macrohannis Dunes. And then after that, we’ll make our way down to Ireland. Thanks a lot, y’all. I’ll see you in the next video.
The Machrihanish Golf Club is the best kind of links golf. Pure, natural, and stunningly beautiful. Built in 1876 this links golf course represents all the good about golf on the west coast of Scotland. Sit back and enjoy this world class links golf course.
