Ben Griffin’s 2025 season was so spectacular that he accidentally scheduled himself out of Tiger Woods’ Hero World Challenge — because he assumed he wouldn’t be good enough to qualify.

Griffin and fiancée Dana Myeroff chose Saturday 6 December for their wedding long before the season heated up. It seemed like a safe date. After all, Griffin was simply trying to avoid a potential clash with a fall event if he were grinding to keep his card for 2026.

“If I have a bad year, I’m gonna have to go to Q-School,” said Griffin earlier in the season.

But instead of fighting for his card, Griffin produced the best year of his life: three PGA Tour wins, a jump from 65th to ninth in the world, and a debut appearance for the United States at the Ryder Cup.

Suddenly, that “safe” wedding date sat squarely on the third round of the Hero World Challenge — a 20-man, invite-only event with a $5 million purse and $150k for last place.

By the time Griffin realised he’d earned a spot, the wedding was already locked in.

“It’s a bummer to not be able to play in the Hero,” Griffin told Front Office Sports.

“But I’m honestly so excited.”

A ceremony with a personal touch

One of the highlights of the day was the man officiating the ceremony: Doug Sieg, CEO of Lord Abbett.

Sieg was the driving force behind Griffin’s return to professional golf after briefly quitting in 2021 to work as a loan officer.

“He was so caught off guard when I asked him,” Griffin said.

“He had no clue. He had to Google some things.”

Sieg got ordained specifically for the occasion.

To Griffin, the symbolism was huge: “He’s the most important sponsor I’ve had and will ever have in my life. And it’s no offense to all my other sponsors — and all my other sponsors probably know it — they understand that Lord Abbett was there from the get-go when I made this comeback.”

Lord Abbett first signed Griffin in 2021 and renewed the partnership in September, with their logo appearing on his left chest during competition.

A fairytale finish to breakthrough year

Despite missing out on teeing it up alongside Tiger in the Bahamas, Griffin still capped off a dream season.

He earned $11.72 million in prize money — sixth-most on the PGA Tour — and received a $3.4 million end-of-year bonus.

Off the course, the celebrations were just as joyful.

Griffin and Dana, who met in April 2022 and got engaged in July 2024 during a trip to Georgia, finally tied the knot.

Dana is a senior customer success manager at Evisort, an AI-native document intelligence company acquired by Workday.

Missing the Hero World Challenge wasn’t ideal — but starting married life after a career-defining year wasn’t a bad consolation prize.

Congratulations to Ben and Dana on a perfect ending to a season Griffin never expected to be this good.
