Scottie Scheffler reflects on a round where he “played better than the score showed,” explaining missed putts, a few unlucky breaks, and why his ball-striking leaves him optimistic heading into 2026. Scheffler discusses off-season progress, rust around the greens, how this event serves as a true benchmark for his game, and why this week felt more like the start of his season than the end.
Scotty, what do you think you brought to the course today? What’s up? What do you think you brought to the course today? What do you think I brought to the course today? How’d you play? Um, you know, I played better than my score for sure. Um, didn’t hold as many putts today. I felt like I hit some good ones that didn’t fall and I got a couple poor breaks on the back nine and um, yeah, that’s how that’s how it should go. Do you leave here optimistic? Yeah, for sure. I mean, I did a lot of good stuff. I mean, hit the ball pretty nice. Um, definitely need to be sharper around the greens, but you know, that’s that’s probably a bit of rust. Um, but you know, come down here is always a good gauge to kind of see where we are around the greens because it’s pretty challenging. And then, you know, did some good stuff on the green. So, overall, yeah, feeling feeling pretty good. Good way to button up the year. And then also, as you look forward to 26, how would you rate your optimism? Yeah, I would say this feels more to me like the start of the year than the end of the year. Um, you know, I took a pretty good break after the RDER Cup. you know, it been another long season and with the season for me starting a couple weeks later this year with no Maui, you know, I pushed it a little bit further up into this event as well. And so I got a good break. It was nice to come down here, kind of gauge where I’m at and, you know, like I said, very optimistic, did a lot of good things and um I definitely felt like some of the stuff I’ve been working on the last few weeks, I saw some progress here and the stuff I was focused on in the offseason, definitely saw some progress here as well. And um it’s a good place to be. Do you have the at least the first part of your season for 26 your schedule set? Um, no, not totally. Not yet. Okay, we’ll see you at the golf channel games. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, that’s right.
