In a beautiful sports story from overseas, Ann-Katrin Berger lead Germany in a stunning win over France to advance to the Women’s Euro semifinals.

The 34-year-old goalkeeper, who was diagnosed with cancer at last Euros in 2022, recorded 9 saves in the 1-1 match, which Germany won in penalty kicks.

Berger made countless spectacular grabs in the back-and-forth finale and even made a goal on the fifth penalty kick for Germany, who were down a player from the 13th minute due to a red card.

AKB was first diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2017, but beat it and battled back to a soccer career.

Berger was an unused back-up for the German team that made the finals in 2022 when she discovered the cancer returned.

She was starring with Chelsea at the time, but moved to Gotham FC in 2024 and won the NWSL’s Goalkeeper of the Year.

AKB covered up the scars on her neck from her treatments with a tattoo that reads “All we have is now”
