It is the very first version of the ball that came out circa 2000.

About 30 years ago when they debuted

Make sure to line up the seam on that bad boy. Good for a few extra yards

    Whats this new fangled ProV1?

Titleist Professional and Tour Balata gang hands up 👋🏻

The 392 indicates how many dimples on the ball. Back then, it was a contest to say how many dimples were on the ball. Not all that different from today’s battle over how many blades can be put on a razor.

Gotta say this was probably the first high spin performance ball. Nobody on tour wasn’t playing this ball. I think around the same time maxfli had a urathane covered ball that was as good but never took off like this thing

  7. This is the ball that killed the Nike golf ball. More due to marketing than performance.

  8. I bought a bucket of used Pro V1s and got a handful of those first gen ones. I put them aside so I don’t play them (I would definitely lose them).

The ball that replaced The Professional

  10. Why do people want these today? Just nostalgia? I have ~15 of them in my garage but they just sit there because I expect they’ve lost their mojo over the years

That is the 392nd Pro V1. Came out right after the 391st and just before the 393s.

Also not to be a dork but I really like that font. Any ideas what it could be?

Oh hey I have one of those from a random lake ball purchase lolll

How old are you? It might be the case that you need to address that ball as “Sir”, as it may be older than you!!!

  15. Found and probably lost one of those this year, hey that might be mine

Ha, I just found a couple of these in my 20 gallon shag ball container. Also found a Golden Bear and a Royal with the hexagon dimples.

Pro V1 scatpack with the 392 hemi

  18. RichardHertz-335

Been at the bottom of the lake 25 years.

OLD ass Pro VI. Probably on its 43rd (temporary) owner

  20. Affectionate-Mud-726

If that was a find? Good one! I’d play it until I lose it.

  21. FatFaceFaster

The OG baby. 392 stands for the number of dimples.

  22. Environmental_Gas595

If you found this in Palm Beach just now I’ve lost about a dozen

Based on my own quick/ brief research, there seems to be a really cool story behind that particular one: The 392 dimple design pattern helps reduce drag and increase lift for added distance AND came out in 2000! Not sure how long that has been there but the fact that somebody might be gaming a 25 year-old PROV1 is DEF VERY INTERESTING!
