Golf In Japan Is INSANE! | Experience Golf | Season 1 Episode 2
It’s unbelievable here in this country. I feel very overstimulated. Hope I’m not lost. I cannot believe this is Wow. Look at this, y’all. Holy sick. Let’s go. Wow. Strap in and let’s experience golf together. I literally have chills. Morning y’all. We are here in Sai early morning and looking forward to a good friend of mine, Toucino. Oh, there he is. There’s Toro. Yes, sir. This is my very good friend Tou here from Japan. lives in Nashville. He’s going to show us around his hometown. Looking forward to it. Yep. Oh, thank you, Tor. Oh, the other side. Hey, I’m still jetlagged. Me and Haley had a little bit of McDonald’s this morning. Didn’t even invite me. Wow. I mean, just knowing Zach for 5 years. I know he doesn’t want any McDonald’s. Let’s just be Let’s just be honest with that. I got this thing that I thought was like mini hash browns and I ate it. I was like, I don’t know what that is, but it’s so good. And Haley had it. I think it was like shrimp Yeah. Yeah. I I To doesn’t even want to know what else I ate. So Toro’s taking us to Mount Zo. Apparently, it erupted like 900 years ago and we’re going to go right where the eruption occurred. Tor said that there’s like a lake there now or the eruption occurred. We do need to stop at like a Lawson’s or Miniar or 7-Eleven. Get some hot coffee, some snacks. That sounds good right there. Little stop at the mini mart. Sam, we got to We got to see if there’s cards in here. Oh, they do. They’ve got cards. Those are a handball. Sorry, Andrew. We uh didn’t find any baseball cards. This is one thing I love about the mini marts here. These are hot. Can’t get that in the States. That’s awesome. This is what we’re looking for right here. I might try that strawberry. That sounds good. This is good. This good coffee. Coffee cream. You just put the hot coffee media. Okay. So like the 7-Eleven, the Family Mart, Mini Stop, all of these compete with Starbucks. They grind their own beans right here. So, this is freshly brewed coffee. Talk about a hall at the Mini Stop. So, we’ve got the Mini Stop Cafe. This is going to be our third cup of coffee that we’re evaluating. That is a very high quality bean. You can tell right out of the gate that they take it serious. That’s better than Starbucks. For the test, I’ve got to see how hot this is. 145. I have to say this moves up to number one for me. Number one, we’ve got a new one at the top. The Mini Stop Cafe. 138 yen. We’ve got a coffee. I am looking forward to this. I love coffee flavored like treats. Huge fan. That is unbelievable. It looks dry. But it’s not. I could eat this every single day. For a dollar, I I’d be in trouble. I’d be in trouble in the States. 128 yen. The maple margarine. So, you’ve got your maple syrup in there with a little margarine. I mean, like I said, I’d be in trouble here. Sorry, I ate it all. The review’s done. The trees were pretty tall when we started our trek up the mountain, but now that we’re a ways up the mountain, the trees have gotten very short, and they won’t be any taller than right here, and they’ll only get a little shorter as we climb up this mountain. I can already tell this view is going to be insane. We couldn’t have asked for a better morning. This view is crazy. I don’t even think the camera is going to do it justice. This is one of the coolest settings I’ve ever been to. Toro told us we’re coming up here to see a volcano, but I did not expect this. We’ve officially made it to Mount Zho. That’s the volcano behind. What an epic day. Toro was telling me that just yesterday the wind was so crazy. It was raining so we couldn’t have come up here to get this view. And when the cloud cover goes away, you can see all the way down to the flat land. Up here, you just feel like you can take a deep breath. The air is so clean and fresh. Absolutely loving to get to experience this view. So, when we were walking up here, Toro was like, “Hurry up. Get down there so you can get the view.” And just like that, we’re in a cloud. even see there’s where the volcano was. So on the drive back down the mountain, we’re going to go check out this waterfall. Holy sick. Oh yes. Is that another one? That is awesome. Yeah, there’s another one over there. There’s another one way up the mountain. Yeah, that’s one. Yeah. Wow. What is this waterfall or don’t eat out here cuz apparently the uh the monkeys will uh come and snag it from you. We’re going to go get some lunch now. The jet lag’s getting to Sam. So, we’re going to Sugi and we’re going to have some tonkatu. Tou has been hyping this place up and I am pumped. I smell it right now. This is going to be unbelievable. What to recommended in that one. And these sauces for sure going to be so good. The katu sauce is going to be amazing. 10 out of 10. I’m going to try it for the first time within mustard. Some wasabi in that a little bit. Like let’s see. Dang. That was absolutely unbelievable. That was the best tonkatu I’ve ever had. Ever. For sure. And then Toro looked at me after and he said, “You’re looking a little rough.” So he’s like, “You need to get a haircut.” So this is Toro’s friend Cobalt. I’m ready to get a haircut. I mean, look at this. Look at this. This is out of control. Cute. Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you. This is the softest my hair has ever felt. My hair never feels this soft. So, we got reset. Got a little fresh cut. We’re ready for a run trying to beat this jet lag. It is a very severe uphill staircase that Sam’s bailing on. He bailed on. I wanted to record this situation. Oh, that’s why. This is going to be a trek up that hill. So, we’re going to give it a run. Me and Haley, we’re doing this. Haley is stretching back here. She’s ready to go. We’re going to get this. Yes, we are. This is a run that Toru’s done all his life from what he was telling me, especially growing up. So, I’m looking forward to this. It’s going to be a test of the glutes. I just want to finish it. Same. We got We got to set the low bars. Low bars so we can succeed, you know? I love it. Ready? Go. I haven’t run in a long time. All right. All right. Haley, you killed it. You killed it. Yay! You finished it. Proud of you. Thank you. We did it. Oh. Oh, definitely walked up a few of those steps. Lesson learned. Do some training before that run. Haley definitely won. She’s training for a marathon. So, she’s got that coming up in 2 days. What an epic run. That was a lot of fun. Crying, right? Yeah. Coming up in the beginning. Yeah. Oh, especially after the run before. I definitely came out of the gate a little too fast going over that bridge and then Haley just just steady and just passed me and I needed to save some of that oxygen cuz I hit those steps and oh my goodness that was next level. But that was quite the experience to get to run the path that Toro ran every day growing up. So that was special. We’re here for the experience. We said we were gonna finish. And we did. Hailey just finished much faster than me. That’s not important. We finished. That’s all that matters. That’s right. Royal Host is where we are at for dinner right here. Can I get the omelette rice with beef stew? We’ve got omelette rice with a beef stew. This looks absolutely unreal. Hamburg steak hamburg. And the people want to know. Ooh, that looks really good. Oh, Mhm. Never had rice omelette before. Really? No. Oh, that’s awesome. That is awesome. Mhm. This is just going to give us some energy for the round of golf tomorrow. Hopefully, we go 2 and 0 against Sam here in Japan. Or you eat McDonald’s. He knows I don’t do fast food. So, if I lose, I have to eat McDonald’s. If Sam loses, I feel like I was kind of cruel to him last time. Strawberry bread. Yes. It’s actually unbelievable. So that’s that. He may want to lose. Look at what Sam ordered for the table. Is that like creme brulee on top? Creme brulee. Wow. Are those dates or grapes? I don’t even know. Chestnuts. No chestnuts. Mhm. Those look like grapes. Oh my goodness. Yeah, that was crazy. If I order all this, he’s like, I’m not going to have it. That’s why I have so many calories. You did say that. You did say that before you ordered this. Well, yeah, babe. I’m down. I want to eat that, too. I said I was going to have The food comes, she doesn’t touch it. I said I was going to have one bite. Who eats all of it? Say that. Wow. He didn’t just order this. He ordered this one as well. What is it, Sam? Feel like it’s grape juice. It’s grape juice. But at the same time, I could be completely wrong. It’s grape juice. I have no idea what I just ate. I have no clue, but it was good. I’m getting full now. You need one more bite here. I’m getting full. This is really good. This is my last bite. I can’t have anymore. I’m not going to be able to swing tomorrow. Morning, Toro. We are now on the way to Grace Ridge. We got Sam in the car. He’s ready to roll. He’s hoping that I eat McDonald’s today. Big Macs. Oh, I don’t know about a Big Mac. I keep waking up at 4:00 a.m., guys. I need to stop doing that. I need some sleep. Especially if I want Zach to eat Big Macs. We’re going back with this energy drink or something. Everybody in the comments, I’ll get a coffee. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. You do what you’re going to do and you just pay the price. You want to guess how much all this was? 11 bucks. That’s crazy. $11. That’s Man, that’s why we stop here every morning. Going to miss this place. I know. Heat. Heat. Take a look at these views, Zachariah. Absolutely unbelievable. Five holes. Take a deep breath. Sam wants me eating some McDonald’s. Mickey De’s, baby. Stroke play here at Grace Ridge. And wow, this place is awesome. Trying to cut the corner. I think that’s going to be pretty good. Yeah, little pulley. All right, I kind of want to hit a T-OT right where Sam is. Par five, 575. So, definitely have some length. Perfect. We will take that all day long. You’re in trouble, Sam. Asking a lot out of this club. Three iron. I’m right in between clubs, but I think a little short’s going to be okay. Okay. Might have gotten in that bunker. I couldn’t tell, but we’re up there. Yeah, good swing. Sam laid up. Go. Thought I hit it good. All right, greenside bunker. A little up and down. Get this match going in the right direction. Oh no, that was a little firm. Little firm. We got a putt for bird though. Thank you very much, Sam. Yes, sir. Look how small these banks are. I know. They’re like toys. Got to take care of the course. Yes, sir. I’ll take care of you. Go. All right. That’s good, sir. Okay. Good putt. Thanks, sir. Couple pars here on the first. Awesome. Par three here. We’ve got 147. I think we’re both hitting pitching wedge. Nine iron for me. Okay. That looks good. Toru told us stay right of the flag. Yeah, great shot. Toru still hit it closer than me. All right, I’ve got pitching wedge here. Toro said don’t go left. Stay. All right, we got a putt. Little left. Putting right back up the hill. Right about third uh 25 30 ft. Oh, Sam. No. Oh, that was in the heart. I thought I had it on him. All right. And with a three. Ah, good roll. Sit. Oh, sit. Relax. Never a doubt. Thank you. This really is a special round of golf. Me and Toro have been friends for over 20 years and we have played hundreds of rounds together in Nashville, but this is our very first round of golf in Japan. This is such an incredible experience. Got three more holes. Match is all square. Sam really wants me to eat McDonald’s. The left side kind of left edge. Okay. Should be fine. All right. 571 par five. Let’s take it high. Let it fly. All right, Sam. We’re going to be in a similar spot. That was a little stinger driver right there. And uh you know, little piece of home right here. Little Nashville golf tea action. Sam, that was actually the perfect line for us. I thought I pulled it and we’re like in the middle of the fairway. You know, me and Sam side by side right here, but this fairway is like, I don’t know, 20 yards wide right here, and it definitely sits a little more left off the tea than we thought. So, our pulls ended up being perfect. Got 280 up the hill. That is a sick shot up that hill. Yeah, good swing. Thank you. Right at the flag. All right. Got a good shot. All right, Sam. I think we’re going to go a little sting piece here. That was fun. That was cool looking. I hit that about 2 feet off the ground. All right, let’s knock it close. Let’s get a tweeter. Stay left. Okay. Should be all right. Should be good. Chipping this in for the mag for Zach right here, baby. Did he do it to me? Did he do it? Dang. Good run. Good run, sir. Thank you. All right. All right, I’m going to chip this in for no Mac for Zach. Oh no. Is that all? Little firm. Putt. Never a doubt. Yes, sir. So, Grace Ridge is one of the best values for golf that I’ve ever seen. Weekdays, Toro told me it’s like $45. We’re playing today. It’s a holiday, so it’s like $60, $65 for this quality of golf. Absolutely incredible value. All you have to do if you’re coming from the States is get an account with PGM and set the account up and you can get a tea time through that. If you come here to Japan, highly recommend Grace Ridge. 11:22 start time. We’ll stop for lunch at the turn. What are you in the mood for, Sam? I might get some udon. I think I’m going to do the teriyaki chicken bowl. Mhm. That’s pretty cool. That is a curry. That looks really good. This looks so good. So, this lunch is included in your green fee. That’s crazy. How are you feeling after that lunch break? Trying to digest right now. The food was so good, but we need Zach to get the Mac. The big Mac. Let’s do it. We’re all tied. Two holes left. Par four down the hill. Really good par4. Not really driver because it’s kind of tight down there. Yeah, a good one, Sam. Thank you. Very nice. Thank you. All right, I’m going with four iron here. I do not want to eat that Big Mac ball. All righty. Side by side down there. Just what we’re looking for. All right. 120 down the hill. Got sand wedge. It’s into the breeze, but this should be the right club. Oh, I wanted that to cut down. Oh, that had some spin. All right, we’re putting. I didn’t want to miss right. I did not want to miss right. Oh my god. How do you hook a wedge? Oh man. Got a feeling Sam’s going to be eating that strawberry sandwich, which is actually quite delicious. Roll. Roll. Got a little meat left on there. Got a little meat left. This would be a huge putt in the match if this could fall. I went the opposite way. I thought I was breaking. Oh, that was good speed. I used all the hole right there. We will take it. Very nice. All square, one to play, sir. Big nag zag. Final hole of the match here at Grace Ridge. And this is a really cool bunker up there in the fairway. It’s heart-shaped. How cool is that? Final hole. If me and Sam do tie here, we want a winner from today. So, the final par three, we’ll do close to the pen. Right down central. Love to see it. Very nice. Neither one of us wants to lose. What are you doing? How about How about this? Zach’s tattoo. Oh, wow. Wow. That That’s something that doesn’t need to happen. But that bunker is awesome. I’ve never seen anything like that. 80 yards. Little into the wind, so I’m going to hit a little chippy sand wedge here. I do not want to eat this McDonald’s spin. Oh, I thought that was going to spin hard. Hit it well. We got a putt for bird. How good has this course been? So up here, honestly, the view, every hole you want to film because of the views. You got mountains, these trees. It’s just crazy. The vibes are nice and the weather’s been perfect all day. It’s crazy. Thank you. A good putt. All right, in with four. I got a putt to win. This would be huge to not have to eat that Big Mac. No way. No way. I thought that pick it up. Was going to go left. Oh my goodness. Good par. Thank you. All right. Close to the pin. See if I’m eating a Big Mac. All right. So, I pretty much parred every single hole today. And we’re cutting to this clip cuz this is for Eagle. Hopefully we can at least get a birdie in this par streak. That feels good. Little uh pin slammer here in Japan. I’ve been waiting all day to hear this. Ah, love to hear the claps. If I hit it closer, Zach’s got to eat a Big Mac. Zach gets a closer. I got to eat a strawberry cream sandwich. That looks pretty good. Go. That That’s a shot right there. Thank you. That’s a shot right there. I mean, Sam just hit that to like eight feet, maybe. So, I got to hit a shot here. Oh, no. I mean, normally I’m up totally okay with that shot cuz I’m probably like 15 ft putting up the hill from here. Unfortunately, it does look like Sam’s closer. We’ll go up there just to double check, but great shot, Sam. All right. Unfortunately, I was a little short. Sam, congratulations. See you at McDonald’s, baby. to birdie. A very nice That’s awesome. Oh, I get to hear the clap one more time. Made birdie on the last to beat Sam. Zachariah. I got him, but I lost the match, but I got him on the day. Big Mac, Zack. Good day, sir. Good times. That was a good That was a fun course. I’m not going to lie. Me making birdie on the last, it’s going to make that Big Mac taste better. Pretty tired. That jet lag’s kicking in. You take another nap. Sam is a napping king. I take five naps a day apparently. I’m still tired. It’s a headover. That is sick. Does it look like you a little bit or am I off? Probably looks more like me. They didn’t have anything with their logos on it, but they’ve got the ball markers with the PGM logo on it. So, we’re going to take one of these to Hawaii. Little quick stop off at the bakery. We have to get this. Okay. This is signature. This for you guys. You guys have to have this. Okay. Is that a chocolate? Oh, listen. This is our favorite since we go. Wow. Oh, thank you so much. That smells so good in there. Smells a lot better than McDonald’s is going to smell. I know that. I You’re going to love it. Sam’s getting very excited. I’m more excited than Zach is. That’s We are here at the McDonald’s drive-thru and Sam is getting antsy back there. I’m like thinking, wa, should I get now? That that doesn’t look too bad. Yeah, this this going to be good, actually. Can I I want to get one of those, too. I think this one. You want to just get that one then? Yeah, let’s do that. All right. Sam, it’s like Christmas morning for you. I don’t think you understand, Zachariah. Cool. I hope you feel good about yourself, Sam. Feel great. Thank you. Callaway 7 iron. That was great. Sean, it’s a nice size. It’s not too big. Oh boy. Fries as well. I didn’t sign up for fries as well. I got to hand it to McDonald’s. Their fries aren’t bad. Skinny B. What is it called? Skimi burger. Skimi burger. I don’t know if I have a sauce in here or what. So, it looks like we’ve got bacon, egg, and a patty. It’s not a Big Mac, but you can’t get these in the US. Cheers. Yeah. Tastes a lot healthier than a Big Mac. This is for the lost today. It’s pretty good. It’s pretty good. It’s pretty good. If we had this in the States, I might would eat this. I haven’t eaten McDonald’s in like 20 something years. Wow. Talk about the price. How much was this, dude? USD. Three meals. It’s around 15 bucks. $15 for three meals. 16 B. 2,200. That’s about 16 bucks. Mhm. Wow. Not even. This in the States would cost 20 25 bucks. Probably more. Yeah. More. Like each one of these would be like $10 I feel like. Y we’re just going to end this episode here. Hopefully y’all are enjoying coming along. This has been epic. Toro is an absolute legend driving us around, showing us the course today. This has been incredible. Next episode, me and Toro heading to the Kana Hotel playing the Fuji course. Place is epic. So as for me, Sam Toro, we’ll see you when we see you. Peace.
