Kip vs. Don | Big Break: Rematch | GolfPass

I feel great. How about you, Double D? I’m a nervous. I’m always nervous, but 21 years I’ve been waiting for this match to happen. 21 years. The thing I remember most about Big Break 2 was just the excitement of the whole thing. I was playing pretty well then and I knew that I could beat him. I’m going up against Don, but I’m not going to let him get me. I want those four exemptions. Booyah. That’s what I’m fighting for. Those are four chances to get your tour card. Go in. Go in. I knew he was an intense gap. I’m on a mission now. Our friendship is over. for right now. Then when we get finished, our friendship will be back. I know I have the mental edge on the guy. I know he’s drawn up like a banjo stream. This guy’s wired tight. Hold that thing tight. One shot could make a difference with me winning or losing. Don is just birdie the last three holes in a row. Came out of there on fire and I knew it was on. Then the tide turned on hole number nine. You’re right. Nine flushed it. It almost went in the hole. Probably the best shot of his life. He is good at you. Look, honey. There was a couple of incidents in that match that got me a little worked up. Need a rule official. It all of a sudden turns into a soap opera. I mean, that whole area is going to be messed up. I’m not saying he cheated, don’t get me wrong, but he’s pushing the rules to his favor. I had a sprinkler head where I was going to be standing on it when I was putting. It looked like to me he widened his stance more than normal and I said, “No, wait a minute now. That’s not right.” I think that he was just trying to get me riled up because I was beating him. Well, if you need one putt in your life to go in, this is it. This is his chance to close him off and win. I’m just competitive. I want to win. Kip for the win. Golly dang. When the ball stopped, my heart stopped. Oh my god, did I get a break? It’s over if this doesn’t go in. My heart really hurt for him that day. I mean, I was so happy to have won, you know, in my mission. I go to hug Double D and just and I I say to him, “Sorry, B.” And he whispers in my ear, “This ruins my life.” He’s so intense. Oh, so much for me running around the green going, “Yeah, I beat him. I beat him.” So, I felt so terrible for 21 years hearing that line right there. But he’s such an intense cat. I’ve never whispered any of that anybody. I think Double D’s already gained me. I was supposed to come down for breakfast. He’s already here. He’s warming up. He left at 7:15, not 7:45. So, now I’m all nervous about if he’s going to show up. Is he sick in the bed or whatever? I didn’t know if Kip would show up, so I was like, you know, I just plan on ruining his life one last time before we sell off. You know, you know, the crazy thing about it is he’s got a lot more to lose than I do. What have I got to lose? You’ve already won. If you if you lose this, you got to live the rest of your life with double D beating you. Yeah. I can’t wait to That’s worse. What am I going to whisper in his ear after he nudges me this afternoon? Holy smokes. I got to work on that already. As you all know, Big Break is coming back in 2026. How are we feeling about this news? Is this exciting or what? We found out this morning. Yes, that’s incredible. I think a lot of people wanted to come back. They’ve been wanting this. They need they need the revival of the Big Break. This is huge. I feel like that’s one of my most often questions that I get from people is asking when is Big Break coming back. It is coming back 2026. We’re excited about that. All right, you guys. Season two of Big Break was one of the most unforgettable matches ever. That final round was action-packed, and it came down to that very, very last shot. Today, we’re going to reset the stage. You guys are going to play a nine-hole stroke play match. The winner of today will be walking home with $5,000 in cash. I knew they had something up their sleeve. There’s always a twist, right? Does that make you a little more nervous? Yeah, I don’t need the money. So, yeah, you do. We all knew the $5,000. Uh, yeah, it’s great. And I was like, you know, it would be nice to win that, but I was more interested in beating Kip. We are out here in Texas at Horseshoe Bay Resort. It’s beautiful out here, but this is also a very special location, and that is because this will be the host of Big Break 2026, which is so exciting. And to top that off, somebody will win an exemption on the PGA Tour for one event. Unbelievable. Which is huge. That’s life-changing, isn’t it? It was pretty exciting to hear that, you know, they were going to start back the big break. You know, I know what it meant to me. I got teareyed standing there and I started thinking about what that’s going to mean to somebody again in the future. All right, guys. I’m excited for today’s match and I’m going to be rooting you both on. Can’t wait to see you get out there. The tea is yours. All right, Miss Blair. Play hard, play well, do what you guys do best. Thank you. Let’s get it on, little buddy. Want to flip for it? Yep. Toss it up there. Oh, you win the tea. You’ll have it at least once. These are jokes. He better not upset me. We’re out here at the beautiful Horseshoe Bay Resort and today’s match is going to be played on the Apple Rock Golf Course. All right, Don and Kip are up at the tea. Don is going to be teeing off first. I have to imagine that there’s a lot of excitement going on there. I’ve played against some of the best players in the world. John Cook, Mark, all these guys and I beat them. Not to say that Kip would be uh easier than those guys, but I’ve beat better players than Kip. Stood on that first te. Definitely felt some nerves. Didn’t want to hit it left cuz I knew out of bounds was left. [Music] Fly Robin. Kick hard left. That’s normally my misses a little right. And I kind of saw it kind of go in toward these bushes. Golly, what a quacker double cross. Kip got up and hit a a bad shot and hit it out of bounds. Then I knew I was okay. It’s four corn fields out of bounds. We’ll never find that golf ball. So, holy crap. I think we both shipped it out. Let’s start over. As I standing over my second, my reload, my provisional. Of course, I said you don’t even need to call it a provisional because ain’t no way that first one’s in. as I standing over my provisional and I thought for a minute I could hit 10 T- balls here and not find one of them. I’m just feeling so much pressure and heat on me. I haven’t been under the gun in a while. All right, that one’s frontwards anyway. Big old hairy bounce. Go. Good lord, Kipper. I saw where Kip hit his drive. He hit it so far down there that he had like an iron into the par five. I thought I was in trouble. Well, that proves I’m on the right side of the bag when I’m caddying. Holy crap. We got it right here. I got it. So, it’s in this cactus. Is it in in play? Uh, it’s it’s in play, but it’s uh I got to take it on playable. Just want to make sure it’s mine if it has a line on it. Yep, it does. That’s it. Are we going to be needing a ruling? That is the question. Oh, we’re going to need the rulie on this. Here he goes. Our first hole. Yeah. He’s going to be driving here and he’s going to be driving. I’m going to I’m going to get the advantage. He’s going to be out in the fairway before we get going. I will. I’ll be out there. Just reach in there and grab it real fast. Now, what? Let’s see how y’all rules here. Yeah. My relief’s going to be right here. And so, you get relief in one. Relief in one. You good with that, Kip? Yeah. I get that rock out there before I dropped it, though, so you don’t miss it. Get all those rocks out of your way. It’s going to roll up against the rock. It’s going to roll outside the thing and I’m going to place it. Oh, you don’t think I’m any dummy, do you? That is outside, isn’t it? That’s why you always call your caddy in stay in the valley now. What are you going to do? That’s balling play. Now I got rocks. Uncle Kip tried to warn you. I didn’t feel like I had an advantage cuz I still had to play a bunch of shots and then when I dropped it, I dropped it on rocks. Double D’s was crap. Wasn’t as crap as mine, but it was crap. But he’s he’s one less than me now. I had like 300 something yards left, so I knew that if I hit 200 yard shot that I was still going to only have him 125 yards in. [Music] All right. All right. So, he laid up. He’s going to have a little short iron in his hands. That’s yours in the fairway right there, Double D. Yeah. I was thinking such negative thoughts on the first hole. I was thinking, man, I might not hit any decent shots out here today. Thankfully, I kind of rided the ship a little bit. It’s running. It’s running. Go. She’s still running. Good miss. All right. Nice shot. Running up right down the center. That’s going to be a good leave right there. It’s got to get better before it gets worse. Anyway, old man nerves set in pretty early. I’m feeling it, too. Kip hit a really nice shot up here for his fourth shot. So, he’s applied some pressure onto Dawn. That was a pretty easy shot. It was 127 yards. I hit a normal pitching wedge 130. Got to go. I missed it. Oh, right into the face of the bunker. Oh, man. Come on, D. You’re better than that. Come on. He’s such a mess. I love him. Right now, it’s looking like Kip’s in position A. And Donna might have a little bit of work, but I don’t think that sand’s going to be too tough. He’s got a good lie. God, needed two more yards. Now I’m on this hard pan. Look at this damn hard pan. Are you? That ain’t hard, Pam. Good lord, that thing. It can’t be sitting any better than that, you dog. All right, blood pressure 240 over 180 in the first hole here. I’m even missing green from here. Double D, you’ll probably chip it in. Yeah, I don’t want it over. Oh, how soft did that funk? He left himself a little bit short, but at least he’s below the hill uphill putt. Dawn here has a little sand shot here. I said he has a good wide. [Music] Whoa, baby. Pretty good play for an old broken down caddy off that hard pan. I got to mess with you a little bit. All right. They both have putts at it, but it’s definitely not a gimme distance for either of them. I feel the excitement for them. This is intense out the first hole. Like, you want to win the first hole or at least be all square. The last thing you want to do is be one down. So, these are going to be two big putts for them. I knew that the advantage could change if he missed his putt. While I was putting on the on the green, I was thinking such negative thoughts. I yanked it bad for it. Oh, there’s no goodies, is there? No. Big old fat seven to start the day. So, now here’s a little window of opportunity for Dawn here. When I had the putter in my hand, I felt more confident and less nerves that I would put a good stroke on it than I did anything else. Look at that. Money in the bank. I would say this probably was not the start that either of them wanted. Kip made a seven on the par five. Dawn made a six. This freaking game. The great thing about it is I’m one stroke up on him already going to this next hole. So, if I can just kind of do that the whole way around here, maybe I can finish him off. back-to-back parfives here on Apple Rock Course. We’ve got another par five. Don obviously is going to tee up first. Two par five starting out, the momentum could really be shifted really quick. And so I knew the first two holes were going to be pivotal, but also that’s when you’re going to be the most nervous, too. I always say if you want to hate yourself for four and a half hours, go play golf. All right, 2DS, a little better swings here, boss. That was a better swing, but I think it’s going to be in that bunker. No, that’s going to cover it. Nope. In it. No, it didn’t. Did it? I aimed just left the bunker and it kind of peeled into the bunker, but I knew the bunker was like 240 or 250 to carry and I didn’t quite carry the bunker. I whiffed it down the left side. Think it’s okay. Kick 90° to the right. Look at this drive. Are you kidding me? He freaking bombed it. So good. Kip can crush the ball. He has game. I tell you what, he did not let that first hole get him down. Better than the first one. Don unfortunately hit his T-shot in the bunker. He is 270. This going to be a tough shot. It looks like he has a pretty big lip in front of him as well. Double D hit it good and he flew right in the bunker. I could have thrown it over that bunker. Looked like Kipper hit a good T- shot down there. He could probably reach it in too, you know, if he feels like it. But, you know, both of our us are pretty nervous. We’ll see what happens. Yeah. I just uh got in there. It was a perfect seven iron. It’s like 215 yards through up the left over there and I just said, “Hit it. That ain’t good. Not good. Go.” Kind of blocked it right and then it hit the trees over there on the right. And then I knew then that I was in trouble. Oh my goodness. Don going from bad to worse. From the bunker into the trees. Absolutely not a good layup. And you know he’s fuming right now. Come on D. And I can see he’s puking as hard as I puked on the first one. Rescue. Don’t get there. Three was too much. When he hit it in the trouble, I thought, well, I should probably just go ahead and just chicken out and lay this up and play it like a smart golfer. I mean, what a girly play is this. Look at this niner. Come on, commit to it. What are you scared of? Scared the wind. Gosh, this there’s no part of me likes laying up right here. All right. Beautiful shot right there. Just hit a little iron right down the center. I think that’s what I would have done as well. I’m so nervous I can’t even spit. You didn’t help it when you put that five grand on the line. You doggies told me after. Don’s found himself in some trouble in the trees, but it looks like he might have a little bit of an opening. So now he’s got a decision to make, too. Is he just going to lay up or is he try to go for the gusto and try to roll it run it up the green? Probably should just punch it out, but I’m going to go through this gap right there and hit a draw. You know what they say, double D, 90% air. I’m going right through it, parts. I’m going to take a risk. So is chicken wire though. You can’t go through chicken wire. I was sitting there thinking this match could end right here too in the metal play. He can hit these trees and ship it out of bounds. Then he’s sitting in the same spot. He can make a hundred where he’s got it. Oh my gosh. This could go anywhere. If I pull this off be pretty huge. You get free balls. Give it a go. I don’t get free $5,000. I’ve got to take a chance here. I’m already up one, so I’m not really gonna lose much. Come on, B. Done this in your sleep, man. Come on. I was nervous, but I wasn’t as nervous cuz I was focused on just hitting that shot. Made it through there. It’s enough. It’s on the green. Just short. Ah, you’re the world’s tallest leprechaun. How did you go through all that right there? There’s a little hole there. really small. Good. Like a Nat’s butt. That was nerve-wracking, but I love it. All right, I got 96 yards. This just about two or three yards off of this guy should just fly right in a cup. Forget about if you would have seen that gap I just went through. I saw it. All right, Kip has about 95 yards here. Everybody think a little wedge in his hand. It’s going to spin a lot. It’s going to spin a lot. He’s got to throw it past the hole. And he hit a beautiful shot. That’s going to spin hard. You were right. Well, it really didn’t. It got the fringe. Came back a little bit, but that’s all right. He’s going to have a little bit of downhill p. How are you feeling after that? That was a crazy shot back there out of the trees. What did you hit? Pitch and wedge. I had 150 yards to the hole, but I only had a pitching wedge to get through a a circle that was probably this big. That’s what it looked like. And you had to keep the ball pretty low. I had to hit hit it. I kind of did what I did with Tommy Gainy. I put the club like this to see if I’d make it through there. That’s the way to do it. I just need a par here. And I know I get a halves. You got this. Go get him. I normally do not do a very good job putting from the first cut. I don’t do well in Texas wedge. I lost big break seven because of that. He killed it. Yep. He hit it way ft by. Oh, what is he doing putting there? Yeah, I should have chipped it and I put it and I end up three putting and getting eliminated. The greens are so soft that I knew it was going to be a tough chip cuz I was going to have to hit it so hard. I don’t normally do Texas wedges, but the greens are so soft that it’s tough. Double D’s putting this from 15 yards off. He’s got the chill he wants to. It ain’t just Uncle Kip. He’s got a pitch where a hundred out of a 100red decent players are pitching that ball. Didn’t hit it good. Let him go, Sheriff. I know him. Didn’t hit it good. Kind of bounced. Darn it. As good as you pitch, you putt that. Why did you do that? Because it’s so soft the greens. I was glad to see him do that. I thought, well, now if I whip my putter out later in the match, I won’t look as bad. Go. That was so good. hit a beautiful putt. He just turned at the last second and and almost went in. Darn it. All right, Don missed his par putt. That’s got to hurt. But Kip has a birdie putt right here, which could be pretty huge if he sunk this. Stay up. That’s such a crap putt. He’s a little outside me. I’m going to finish it. All right, Kip taps him for par. Don still has a little putt here. A little work left. All right. All right, old man. We tied now. That could have been worse, I guess. All right. This par three is playing 134 yards over the water. Pins in front mid left center of the green. I’m standing on three. I have nothing positive in my brain on I know I’m a decent player, but man, I tell you, the demons are screaming like crazy at me right here. be the right ticket, baby. Snuggle in there, darling. Good swing. Pressure applied. This is so good. I hit a perfect golf shot that flew almost pin high. For the first time today, I feel like, man, I got a little confidence now. He put a little pressure on me. Hit a really nice shot. And uh I knew that I needed to step up on that par three, third hole and hit a good shot. Hold it. Oh, you tugged it. Tugged Malone and plugged in the bunker. No, it bounced down in the bunker. Double D. Balls in the bottom of the bunker. He’s in the sand. That could have been real trouble right there with the water there. I’m feeling the heat like a crazy, but somebody else is too. Unless I get this up and down, I’m going to be one down. Kipper hit a nice swing. I got quick from the top. Hopefully I get it together soon. I knew I was still pretty good out of the bunkers and the bunkers were really good here. And then I knew I had a back stop there that I could use. I could throw it back there and kind of have it spin down. The ball was below my feet. There was water on the other side. I thought about the water. Don’t scald it over the green. Oh, he might have played one. Oh, he’s got a little too far. Double D. Hit a little too far. I was trying to use that slope. He had a great shot there. That’s got to give him some confidence at least moving forward because it was stroke play. I knew how important that putt was that I had to make that to put pressure back on him and hopefully he missed and we’re still tied. [Music] Wow. Goodness gracious. Good putt, double D. The one right in the middle and it didn’t go in there easy. It It banged the back of that hole. You dog. Woo. Great putt. Thanks. All right, Kip. Here’s a putt for birdie to take a one stroke lead. Standing over that. I’m feeling so much apprehension. You know, I don’t feel good right now with my putter. And I’ve been practicing lately looking at the hole. Oh, stay in that round. Good putt. Screw them in. They stay longer. All right. That literally did a 360. All right. The flat sticks are hot right now, you guys. They’re hot. [Music] If I can settle down here and keep this in here, I always finish strong. Yeah. I just I get settled down and then I’m fine. So, a little slow to start and then Yep. Always grind it down and then I always, you know, come back. But my putter always saves me. Okay, so that’s a good thing. I like that. Kip and Dawn are through three holes. Kip is one up. They got a par4 coming up here. I mean, this fairway right here is a little bit wider than what we’ve seen on the past few holes. The pin is actually back right. There’s a little bit of a ridge, but I hear that the horse opens up a little bit. And obviously Kip has the tea. It’s frontwards again. I don’t want it over. Kip talked about how his distance is definitely an advantage and he thinks that’s going to be the advantage for him today if he keeps it in play. Finally, I made another good swing on four. Finally, thank goodness. I’m feeling a little bit of confidence. Maybe I can get my T-ball to start landing out in the sunshine there. So now let’s see if Don can follow it up. Oh yeah, should get a land slice, shouldn’t it? Kick right. Didn’t hit it very good. It’s just short of the bunker. Going to have a long way in. Pretty wide open hole, but you still have to hit a good drive. You got a bunker on the left. I kind of pulled mine up the left side. I was in the left rough. You know, I’m 30, 40 yards ahead of him out in the middle of the fairway. thinking, well, maybe the momentum has shifted towards me here. Kip’s only going to have about 155 yards into the green. Don’s going to have about 185 yards. Don hit it just the left half side of the fairway. Pretty darn good pin. Back right pin. Going to have to hit a real solid five iron. I know if I get on that green, I could make that putt. Second shot was tough because the ball’s below my feet and if you miss it right, there’s little trees over there to the right. Tough little pitch. Most great players are good players. When the ball’s below their feet, they don’t miss it right. Pulled it again. He’s done it. He’s a bunker again. I can tell you, I’ve been in some serious bunkers. I’m working on my bunker play. You’re going to get tenonitis, dude. You wreck a bunker on every hole. All right. Got to get it up and down. It didn’t bother me at all that I was in another one. I just need to execute the golf shot. Man, he’s got a tough up and down here. If I can just squirt this one up there in front of me somewhere, momentum’s definitely going to be on my side now. F word. Fly Robin. Little ups slope got me. Dang. He’s got to be a little frustrated with himself for that cuz he had kind of a perfect setup right there. Perfect opportunity, but probably not the best swing he’s had. Chunk pulled it onto the green. All right, maybe I can hit a good bunker shot here and put a little pressure on him. I ain’t putting any pressure on him. He’s He’s got a hard bunker shot. Surely he won’t get this one up and down. You know, at that moment, I still had the advantage even though he was on the green and I was hitting a bunker shot with the green soft. I knew I could throw it all the way to hole and spin it. Three greenside bunkers for Dawn in the last four holes. But we did see him just get up and down, get a sandy on that last hole, so he’s got to have some confidence out of that sand. [Music] Good lord. Oh, it hit soft steel ball. Oh, he hit that good and it just stuck and sat there. Almost missed it just a little bit. I can do worse than that. Yeah, I tried to fly it all the way to the hole, but it didn’t quite catch it. I mean, you’re hitting a bunker shot on every hole. Y’all be getting pretty dang good at him by now. Now Kip’s looking. He’s got a pretty uh needy putt here. He’s putting for birdie right here. So, pretty good. He hit it pretty hard. Get over there. And a good putt. It leveled out on me. All right. I think he likes it. I’ll get in there, hos. I definitely felt a little more pressure on that putt than I did on any previous putts just because I didn’t want to be too down, you know, with what, five holes to play. Nope. [Music] didn’t hit it. That was the first time that I felt that if I don’t turn it around here, this it’s going to be over. K’s not going to miss this. All right. Good job. All right. off the tee to cover this bunker right here on this dog leg right. I think Kip has the distance. I’m not sure if Don does or not. So, I’ll be interested to see what their play is here. But also, if you do cut this dog leg, you do have OB on the right. So, you don’t want to take it too far right either. So, there’s a little bit of riskreward here. But, I do feel like Kip’s been, you know, hitting the middle of the fairways the last few holes. Now I got a little bit of confidence going my way here, but I still want to squeeze a cut out there. The hole sets up for a cut. And I know I can cover that bunker out there. Look at Kip’s drive. Absolutely crushed it. He cut the corner, carried the sand in a great position. He’s got to be happy with that. All right. Nothing about our house, Uncle Kip. He had a good tea ball. I just wanted to say, “Hey, you got to snap out of this and start playing. If you want to win this thing, we got to start hitting some golf shots. That’s out in the sunshine. Good job, boss. Here we go. Nice one. Thank you, buddy. I hit a beautiful one down the middle and I knew that I was starting to feel a little bit better. Starting to calm down a little bit. I hit a good one there. Need to get a look at birdie and put a little pressure on. I’m not putting any heat on him. I think if I put a little heat on him, maybe, you know, he might give something back to me. Double D’s got a 90% chance of missing all the bunkers on this hole, but he ain’t hitting in the bunker this time. Don has about 99 yards here. If he can get laser focus in here and just really apply some pressure, that would be a good move for him. I was right in between clubs on that one. That’s a very dicey pin because there’s nothing over the green. Just pulled it and not enough club. Tough pin. It’s not a great shot, but at least it is a green in regulation. It’s his first one of the day, so at least he’s putting for birdie. kind of pulled it a little left and it spun and I had about a what 30 footer on an easy hole where you got a wedge in your hand and you should be putting from about 10 15 feet, you know, 81 yards. I drove it too far down that fairway. That would have been a better long iron play right there or maybe a rescue. I didn’t want that number that I had in there because it’s a front pin. So, I was caught in between trying to send something a little more up in the air which brings fat into play. But, he had already stuffed in there. He kind of forced my hand a little bit. Drop it in low. Anyway, skip. Oh, I got lucky. Sheesh. That was ugly, but effective. He’s putting the heat on. He’s got a opportunity here to make another birdie. He’s definitely within birdie range. Not a gimme, but he’s definitely within birdie range. So, he’s got to feel good about that shot. Well, there’s the line. He’s got to hit it. Right. Don’s going to leave the pin in. needs to make a crazy putt here. Get up. Get up. Yikes. No. Just short. All right. That was a great putt, though. Great speed. Great putt. Right in her heart. [Music] Got to hit it closer. I mean, this is a big putt right here for Kip. A very makeable range. If he makes this, he goes three up. I should make this one. [Music] Just left. What a simple putt. Yeah, I didn’t see it going left. I pulled it, but Yeah. Okay. I tugged it. That put a kink in my armor for the first time. And all of a sudden now I’m like, “Oh crap, I’m puking right here on television.” Par, move on to the next hole. Kip is still two up. But that was a missed opportunity right there for Kip. You know, he wanted that bad. All right. Thank you for being nice. Got to keep this thing a game, man. I’m kidding. I was trying to hoop it. Trust me. [Music] All right. Through five holes. Kip is two up. No blood on the last hole. We had two pars that birdie putt on the last hole. I thought you had that one. What happened? You just missed it. Left mis hit this putt. I tugged it. You know, I’m so I’m so nervous. I’m looking at the hole, you know. I’m trying to Did you look up too quick? No, I’m I’m actually looking at the hole that I’m putting like Jordan be my body. But uh it’s just it takes out some of the apprehension in my stroke. I just got the little the nerves got that. Oh my gosh. You got old man hands now. Well, that happens to the best of old man hands. That’s mostly the best. Had it inside, right? And then it just tugged it. Okay. And good par there. Good salt. Your your putt your putt was in the whole way. Yeah. You can’t be putting from that far when you got wedges in your hand. And he got lucky. They gave me gave me one back and now he’s not three up and two up. He’s in shaking distance. It’s still a game. I need a hole out somewhere. It’s still a game. We got a short par4 here, right? Pretty open fairway. Looks pretty good. Yeah. All right, guys. Play hard. All right, that was Blair. All right, pretty darn good. Little wormy cut. Safety first. Whoa. Okay, Kip just hit a great drive. He’s locked in with the driver. Kip keeps talking about nerves, nerves, nerves. He is not showing it at all. Looks like I’m going to have to go get him. He ain’t going to make any mistakes coming in. I knew if I got it down there and got a wedge in my hand, I knew that the advantage was for me. All right, though. D, good job. Thanks. Can’t point no straighter than that, little buddy. Yep. Thank you. Wow, Don hit a great drive there. He’s got to have some adrenaline going because this is the closest that he’s been to Kip throughout the entire match. That was probably my best drive I hit all day. I hit that ball almost 300 yd. That’s pretty good for me. Looks like I got down here with Kip. I’m hoping I got somewhere around 80 yards. I can hit that little 3/4 60 degree wedge and maybe stiff it there and put a little heat on them. Every swing I look up, I have no idea where the ball’s coming down. I am not on top of my stuff. I’m just so nervous. I’m sure glad that they uh not playing match play and we’re playing stroke. Give me a little chance. You know, the greens are soft, thank goodness. But this a front pin and I got 60 yards. A good caddy would have kept me back right there. I drove it too far down that fairway. That would have been a better long iron play right there. I didn’t want that number that I had in there because it’s a front pin. I have er a good caddy wouldn’t have let me get this close to a front pin. Anybody know any good caddies anywhere? I know. I just missed that divot. Yes, I did. Got 76 to the hole. It’s a 10:00 60°ree wedge. Goes 72. So in between yardage here, sometimes this can be a little tricky shot here. You know he’s going to do something fabulous sooner or later. He just did something fabulous. All right, we finally hit a golf shot. Holy smokes. Wow. Good gosh. He almost made that. Tried to hoop it. Thanks. I can see that coming from 2 miles down the road. Dang it. That felt good. He said he was going to try to make it. He did just that. He showed up in Don Donatello fashion. Still a little nervous, but it felt good. Tried to make that right. Kip has 70 yards here. I don’t like this worth of crap. Come on. Let’s figure out something. You know, Don had to be the happiest he’s been all day after his shot right there. Stuffing that shot so close. He had to feel really good and immediately put the pressure on Kip. Kind of forced my hand a little bit. So, I thought I’m going to probably try and hit this a little bit softer, you know, not play the safety, drive it in there low. Not afraid of that. Now, it gets real hard from there, boys. Now, I’m short again with no chance of getting it up and down with my wedge game. Y such a bad decision off the tea. He chunked it heavy. He’s not liking that. Don definitely I think he might have gotten his head a little bit with that one. Shoot the devil. Kipper can’t get it that close off the tea. Things can change right here. A big swing can happen. I felt like I had an advantage that this could be a two shot swing. I was two shots down. That had to look pretty cool coming in up here. I thought I made it. I’m carrying this wedge over here just for show. I’m never chipping this. I mean, that’s got chili want written all over it. I can’t do it. Sorry. Kip does not have the easiest of putts here. Off the fringe. He’s taking putter up the hill. Breaks left to right. He knows Don’s in there close, so he really needs some putting magic right here. That’s what I get for laughing at you on two. Stop. Pop the chute. I mean, he didn’t want to leave that short, but that’s not the putt that he wanted to have left. He left way too much meat on that bone. Cracker. Fracker. Kipper. Being nervous there cost me a lot. Just not thinking clearly. This could be a two-stroke swing, which would be huge in this match. Kip is putting for par before Don’s even hit his third shot. That’s pure putt, man. Make or miss. I yanked it again. Oh my god. I’ll finish. Goss hard. This is heating up right here. This is intense. Why do we like this game? That put a kink in my armor for the first time. And all of a sudden now I’m like, “Oh crap, I’m puking right here on television.” If I make birdie here, this is huge. Don’s putt here is about 8 ft or so. Got some serious break in it. This would be to tie the match. broke a lot. Wow. Oh my gosh. He missed it on the low side. That did slice a lot. God, that would have been a massive swing right there if he would have made that. He’s left himself a little bit of work here, too. So, he’s going to have to make this putt to at least bring it back down to him only being one down. Well, you’re good to me there, little buddy. I had an opportunity to get a thing all square. So, I’m still disappointed a little bit. But then also said to myself, “All right, you’re settled down. You’ve hit some good shots and, you know, this next hole’s pivotal.” Was an easy putt, man. God. No, it wasn’t that easy. I mean, you’re out of the hole by the cup right here. I had to play almost a foot of foot of break. Yeah, I don’t know about a foot, but it’s a lot of break. All right, we’ve got ourselves a match. The guys are on their seventh T box right now. This is a riskreward par4 dog leg right. As you see, there’s a creek running across the fairway. Now, you could possibly take that risk and try to cover the creek, but it’s going to be a very, very good drive off the tea. No, I’m not going to go for it. I’m going to try to hit that brown spot. Don’s taking an iron off the tea. Nice play. Thanks. Bounce hard. Nice. All right, Dawn hit eight iron right down the middle of the fairway. Okay, finally hit a good shot. Solid. Tell you if I had made that putt on the last hole. Got to forget about it and move on. Man, I want to ship it so bad. Yep. I mean, you probably win win it if you get it up there. I’ve never heard more layup advice in my whole life than I just got right there. There goes the driver. If you’d have said I’d lay it up. Yep. I would have hit I just shipped it. You played that backwards, boss. I can make it, but I just get it up there where I’m getting chili wamp land again. Just trying to scrape this out there. All right. Good swing, Kip. Little chicken swing. All right. Good shot. Kip just carried Don’s shot. He hit an iron off the tea as well, but he’s a little bit further down the fairway, which is going to be nice position for him. This ain’t getting any easier. All right, hit an eight iron. Can drive it over the water up there if they had to tee up, but you know, I’m one shot back. I guess I could have tried, but you know, just get it in play here and keep trying to put pressure on him. I could have fired driver right over that dog leg, but it’s if you tug at any, it’s gone. I think on this shot right here, this is advantage kip for him being longer on the shot. The fact that Dawn has to hit first is a big deal. 179. This could be the tournament right here. I stiff it in there. Big birdie. Don’s going to be feeling the pressure because this overall isn’t isn’t the easiest looking golf shot, especially with that pin tucked right. Come on, D. Just one good shot here. Oh, he just backed off that shot. You know, he’s thinking twice about this. What does he want to do? Man, got a lot of things going on. That boy make a cup of coffee nervous. I had a lot of thoughts going in my head, like negative thoughts like don’t hit it right, you know? You know, you got to hit a good shot here. I backed off to get my P’s and Q’s and then got back over, stayed focused on what I was doing. Just give me one more good swing. Come on. Come on, man. [Music] All right, I hit it good. I knew right away I flushed it. Wow, that was an absolute beauty. My goodness. Right back there by the hole in the driver’s seat. Off shot, little buddy. Cut that out. Nice one. Thank you, buddy. Had a lot of things going in my head. Pin high. He made that look easy. Stuck it just left of the pin. What an awesome line. Dag gone it. Now I’m stuck in between bats, too. I’m in between numbers and Donatello is already stuffed his second shot in a row in there and he’s giving me the business. So he giving me the let’s go and he’s fist pumping over there. So I’m trying to block all that crap out. I hope I roll this one in and take the lead. I’m going to see what he’s got. I’m a closer. The idiot in me is aiming straight at this sucker. I should play it at his ball, but can’t race if you’re afraid of the track. Stuff it in there. Kip is 155 yards now. Now he sees that Don just hit a great shot into here. Let’s see if he can follow it up with something nice as well. Look at that. Oh, short and left. So bad. This match is heating up. This is getting really interesting. I’ll tell you, it’s on. It’s on like Donkey Kong. We like Donkey Kong. Wow, that’s so bad. Oh, Kipper. All right, buddy. It’s a good shot you hit. Gib has some work left for himself. And I’m pretty sure I got to chip this one. This could get ugly. The demons start screaming so loud again to me. Now I’ve got something that my buddies at home are going to love because they love to give me the business on my chipping. The greens aren’t rolling out a ton. So I’m thinking actually probably gonna have to carry it most of the way up there. This is what my buddies back on been wanting to see. I got to pitch this. This is a pivotal shot right here. Could be a two shot swing. I literally could be leading going into the next hole if he doesn’t pull this off. Look at there. The old man hand set in. No. Oh my gosh. The nerves are really getting to him a little bit right now. I think he needs to take his time. I boned it over the grease trying to keep from chili wamping that thing. When you talk about your weakness like that out loud, you’re never going to be any good. And now I’m just completely unraveled. Now my brain is completely fried. Ain’t a whole lot to it. Break right and back to the left a little bit. Don’s definitely feeling like he’s in a good position right now. I mean, he just gave him a cushion. Hit a good one down there. Maybe it might go in. Is stroke play, you guys. So, every putt matters. He hit a good putt. He hit a really good little hard. Really? He ran it by 8 ft. This could be a massive swing right here with strobe play. God, I hate this game. Oh, I feel the pressure and the nerves in the air right now. When he hit it like six feet past coming back down, part of me wanted to make the putt, but part of me said, “Don’t do anything stupid because he might make six here.” Even though Don’s one stroke down, he has the advantage right now. He’s putting for birdie. His partner hasn’t even puted for Bowie yet. [Music] Man, another big breaker. We know that Don’s going to make this putt for par. Kip has to make this putt to keep the match tied. Is that a big old fat six or seven? What is that? Six. Holy kunk. These guys just battle it back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. Good par. Oh, two stroke swing, you guys. Don just went from one down to one up. That was a crazy hole. Two holes left. Anything can happen. The old flipperoo. That’s so bad. That was a big hole. I needed that. This plan’s so nervous. There’s a reason I caddy now, boys and girls. All right, let’s flip him back. You know what? A solid sixiron in there. Put a little heat on him. I needed to put heat on him early and see if I can finish these last two holes off. Hope I can like to do this for my dad to pass at the end of February. So, getting emotional. I shouldn’t be should be focused on what I’m doing, but you know, losing my dad really hurt, you know. Nice mid-length par three here at the Apple Rock course at Horseshoe Bay. It’s pretty well bunkered in front. So, the smart play looks to be a little long if anything. I thought if I aimed a little right, closed it down a little bit. I could kind of sweep it in there and everything would kind of go right to the hole. It’s got to go. Got to go. Go. He’s all right. Dang it. So close. Don just left it short. He’s in the bunker again. Hip pain off now. Now he told me while we were driving up to this hole that he has the chipping yips. All right, do some diff. I told him, “Well, there’s only one thing you can do now. Make sure you hit the greens.” He said, “Absolutely.” Cut. Blind bite. All right. Good shot. So bad. Kip has hit the green. He’s putting. He’s got the flat stick in the hand. It’s about 30 ft and Dawn is in the sand. Ah, kipper. Finally, I’ve hit the green on eight. I don’t have to worry about chipping it. So, it’s a load off, you know. All right. My ball’s not buried. See if I can get it up and down. Been in the bunker a bunch. So, I’ve had these shots. All I got to do is pop it out and make the putt. Part of me, the killer in me is thinking, “Please let this be buried under the face of the bunker.” Did it come all the way back? It plugged in the lip of the bunker. I think he’s buried. Well, it’s over for me, buddy. Huh? Plugged right in the lip of the bunker under the lip. All right, we got a match. That’s the last place that he wanted to be. That’s a very unlucky bad break in this big break rematch right here. I mean, we can’t even find it. He’s looking to see where that ball is. How deep did that plug in? This is getting intense, you guys. You don’t see a mark where it looks like it could have hit. No, I didn’t see anything. And when I didn’t see it and then I kept putting my hand, I know that I’m allowed to touch the sand to find where the ball is. And we still couldn’t find it. I don’t see anything here. I mean, you would see it here. Look at that. Do you think it plugged in here? Yeah. You want to rake around on it here? Why don’t we do this? We can. There it is. There it is. So, now what? Uh, I’ve got to recreate that lie. Well, let’s make sure it’s it, right? Yeah, you got to identify it, doesn’t he? Yep, that’s it. What’s going on? He reaches in there and grabs it and pulls it out of this crater. This sucker’s in there. It’s down in there. It’s glued in there. It’s down in there bad. And I go, “Oh, that dude. Ain’t that what I’m supposed to do? Cover it back. Put it back down and cover it up. I don’t know. You got to lift it out of there, though. I have to look at it to make sure it’s mine. I mean, that sucker was so down in there, hos I mean, he’s pulled it out. Yeah, that’s it. And he sticks it kind of back down in there. And I’m like, “Holy smokes. He’s killing me here.” Yeah, but look how much dirt we uh just pulled side there. I mean, I would have done it like this and just scraped away. Oh, there’s my mark. And then put it back. I don’t know that I’d lift it out of that buried spot. I’m supposed to do that. I got to check to see if that’s my ball. Am I not right? I mean, obviously you got to identify it, but Yeah, because I mean, I’d kind of like to have seen you identify a little bit less cuz that sucker was down in there pretty deep, hos. So, you don’t think that’s the same as it was when I cleared all that dirt? Really? Look at all this dirt that I cleared away from there. Yeah, I know. That’s that’s that’s the point, you know, and it’s just human nature, you know. You’re going to kind of you’re not going to break the rules, but you’re going to ease them your way a little bit. And Double D, I know he’s going to ease these rules his way. So, I’m going to stand my ground right there. I mean, look at the dirty thing. I pull it off of there. I put it back in the hole and I pushed it down. I mean, I’m not trying to cheat you. I mean, it ain’t that big of a deal. All right. You know what I mean? I hear you. Well, kind of a big deal. Kip was saying I was cheating. I never want anybody to think I’m cheating to get an advantage. And that kind of really really got me upset. You got to identify it. I get it. Not really, though. Guys call me cheater. I’m playing by the rules, man. Jeez, every time sprinkler head. Now this. The same thing happened in big break 2 when he tried to call me standing on a sprinkler head on the fringe when I had a 50-footer for a putt. Whether I move it over one foot to putt a 50-footer. It’s not really an advantage. It’s not like I’m taking out of the rough. Oh, come on. It looked like to me he widened his stance more than normal. And I called, you know, I said, “No, wait a minute now. That’s not right.” If you watch, if I’m doing my practice swings, okay, look how close your feet are together. But no, I spread my feet at the end like this. I’ll shut up. That’s great. To say that I’m cheating and I improve my lie, which I didn’t is absurd. I mean, I had a really tough shot. The chances of me getting that out of the bunker were probably one in a million because he’s most likely going to chunk this. It’s going to roll back down in the bunker. You didn’t get it out of there, huh? You see where it came out? It didn’t come out. Well, I still can’t see it, so I don’t know where it is. Yeah. Well, we can we can find it. There it is again. Am I okay like that? Yeah. Let’s see if he gets it out this time. Oh, it stayed in there again. Oh, man. This was way more interesting than I thought it was going to be. Yeah, we made this up. You guys, there’s a reason where Catty’s if I don’t get this up and down. He just two putts. He’s going to have a two shot advantage going in the last hole. Nice work. Great shot there. I don’t think I was a jerk. Was I? Was I a jerk? Was over to defend myself. It says I’m cheating him and I can’t even get the ball over the damn lip. Unbelievable. The intensity of this match has risen, you guys. This is crazy. One there, two there, three there, four putt for five. If I can just dribble this thing down there somewhere around the hole and not have a 3, four foot puke putt, I’m going to at least be tied going into 18. Take the break. All right, Kip hit that putt. Doesn’t look like he’s too happy with it, but I think it’s just within tapping range. It’s all right. Not Kip is in for par, so we know that he’s going to be taking the lead into the very last hole. It’s just a matter of how many strokes is it going to be? Here I am in another circumstance where I know if I miss my putt, he’s going to have a two shot advantage going to the next hole and it’s over. So, I knew I needed to make that putt. Dawn just backed off of his plat. His hands got to be shaking. I mean, this is huge. These guys bring a show. Not only did they do it years ago, over 20 years later, they’re bringing the same action. Right up there. Wow. Okay. I mean, he’s got to be upset with that hole, but he’s got to be feeling good that he sunk that last putt. I was uh upset that Kip went that route, so I was more upset at myself, too. but also upset that he would make those comments. It’s crazy. Unbelievable, man. Come on. Can’t put that on TV. We just went a two-stroke swing on the last hole. Kip went down one and now going into the last hole, Kip’s up one. Bull caused me a [ __ ] cheater. This is big break all over again. This is big break two. Donatello is letting me back in the game. It’s all on again. Is that unbelievable? Me and Double D do the exact same thing. We got to have a controversy. I didn’t I wasn’t trying to create it. I promise I lost. But all right. Need a birdie. Extra holes. Great finishing hole here. Short par4 dog leg left. Biggest concern off the tea is that fairway bunker, but anything solid off the tea should leave a short shot to the green. So birdie is there for the taking. I think 3-wood puts the bunker in play for me. Driver could sell it over the dog leg, but not worth the risk. Try and puke this three iron out there in the sunshine somewhere. The intensity is absolutely extreme and you could cut it with a knife. Oh, it’ll be money I think, shouldn’t it? Oh, it’s all leaves fall. Kip took iron off of the tea. Left rough, but that is not bad. Racker fracker. He got lucky to kind of bounce back down and get out of there. And I just said stay aggressive at the right traps. If you go in the bunker, you go in the bunker. It’s soft. Thanks. It’s fine. Just into the rough, but very nice drive there, especially after coming off that last hole and all the emotions and everything was at an all-time high. I care whether I got in the bunker or not. I was going to make birdie here and get this thing tied. All right, buddy. Got to make birdie. These two approach shots are going to be intense. We’ve got the greens elevated a bit. The pins right up front. We know emotions are high out here, so anything can happen. All right, I got 120 little down. My intent is to put this about 15 ft behind it to the left of it. It is all coming down to these very last approach shots. It should be money. Might be a little bit farther than I thought, but I don’t want it over. Good spot right in the middle of the green. Very nice shot there. That’s one of the few that came off exactly like I drew up in my mind. All right, I get redemption. Got that same number I same number I had four or five holes ago that I took a 60. Now I’m going to hit the right glove and try to make it. Now Don’s hitting here from the right rough. A little bit of a slope lie here. Looks like the ball’s a little bit above his feet. I never thought about the cameras around me. I never thought about hitting a bad shot. I just executed. Be right. Just one time. Be right. Look real good. Yes, sir. Still right next to it. Perhaps the [ __ ] Yes. Are you serious? I don’t know. Did he hit a good shot? Absolutely. I mean, that could be a foot the way it looks. It’s never easy. Never a dull moment with these guys. That’s what I’m talking about. Now, let’s just finish it off here. Great shot. Two D’s. Thank you, buddy. You, too. Under the circumstances. I got chills right now cuz there’s just been the intensity has been so high out here. This is too much. Let’s cram this inner kip and go run across the green. Forget about how he feels this time. Go ahead and bury this sucker. I’m barely creeping to the right. If Kit makes this putt for birdie, game over. He wins the match. But if Dawn makes his putt and Kit misses his, we got a tie on our hands. I shoved it. Get on over there. Oh, you guys, that looks so good. I thought he was going to make this. He just slides by. Jja Vu is happening right here. I don’t know. Can’t be an easier putt right sooner. If Dawn makes this, he ties the match. Craziness. They would then go back to 18. A big giant piece of me is thinking extra hose, double D, our rematch. This is what it’s supposed to be. [Music] Oh my god. Unbelievable. I never guessed that. He pulled it left. I cannot believe he missed that putt. I think I moved it a little bit. I said, “You got to commit to it.” And uh it went a little left. I don’t miss too many putts like that. And I tell you right now, I I could hit that putt a million times and maybe never miss it again. Double D. I knew you’d make that, dude. All right. Good job. Love you, brother. Sorry, man. God damn it. That’s unbelievable. I’d have bet my car to a donut. He makes that. What a match, you guys. This was again until the very last shot was hit. Intense. I lost my dad in February of this year and uh that would have been nice to win to make that. I think if I would have won this, I would have dedicated it to my dad. It would have been better if you’d have made that. Yeah, it would have would have gone extra holes again. Garn it, man. Sorry, buddy. I can’t believe he didn’t make that putt. I get the five grand, he gets nothing again. And the biggest part of me was was like, dang it. But then another big part of me was I’m so happy I’ve won the rematch. I I have the power over him again, as he said in ruined his life again. You guys are fighters out there. Dang it. This is why they are big break legends. This is why their matches unbelievable. Do not disappoint. Oh my gosh. My goodness. Now I got to go to my grave again. A loser. Oh. Hey, you guys are fighters out there. You guys both got a heart of gold. I don’t care about the money. I just love to win. I know you want to win. Hey, you guys are both winners in my mind. Thanks for coming back for a rematch. And of course, you’re going to be walking away with that $5,000 cash. That helps a lot. It doesn’t hurt. It doesn’t hurt. So, I hope the big break, man. I hope this fires the big break back up. Oh, for sure. Oh, this is firing it up right here. This match right here. They better they better bring it because we’re seeing some good golf. Some crazy things. You never know what can happen in these big breaks, right? No. Got to give a big thanks to Horseshoe Bay Resort. Thanks for having us today. What a great match this was. And what do you guys think? Should we have more of these matches? Yes, I think so. What do you guys think at home? We want to hear from you. Should we have more Big Break matches? And of course, make sure to check out Big Break in 2026. And you guys, thank you so much again. My pleasure. You guys, such a great time. You guys are amazing. So much fun to watch. It was a pleasure to be with you guys. What a great day. These guys show up and just great golf all around. It was fun.
