Hello,
I am really wanting to use my garage space in the off-season for a simulator build. I have a good size garage 24 feet (car length) by 18 feet (width) and the ceilings are high just about 11 feet…. my problem is my garage door motor and garage door tracks are only about 7 feet high, so that is clearly not enough space for full Driver swings.

Has anybody ran into this issue and what did you do to modify the garage door motor and track height? How much does this type of modification typically cost? Thank you so much for any help….I just need to know what would be a good price quote for this type of work. I have attached pictures of my garage and the motor, tracks and ceiling height for reference.

  1. It looks like you don’t have room to run a side mount and have them raised to the ceiling bc of the drop section right by the doors.
High lift garage doors won’t work without a level surface on the ceiling.

  2. Currently doing a high lift kit too. I ordered my lift kit from ddm garage doors. It was $650 which included pre-assembly, taxes and shipping. I ordered a Liftmaster 98022 from amazon for $610 (includes a $40 coupon they were running).

No clue what it would cost for labor if you had a company install it. It’s roughly a 3 hour job.

Due to ball flight with wedges and mishits, anything center and above is a problem. You’ll need to protect the track even if you raise it up. It’s too bad you don’t have a torsion bar, side mount would probably fit in the middle there.

Yes, that looks absolutely(edit: not doable in its current form). 1500 to 3000 depending on location and if you decide to do the motor plus the lift kit. Had mine done. The motor is only about 8inches wide

Would love to hear what you end up doing after. Have the same issue. Was thinking about putting it perpendicular to the tracks in the middle or something
