President Donald Trump’s granddaughter Kai is set to lend her voice as a ‘guest commentator’ for the forthcoming Golf Channel Games, following her debut at the LPGA Tour at The Annika last month. The Golf Channel Games, a telly-centric golf contest, will see teams led by Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler.

The event will be broadcast live on 17 December on both the Golf Channel and USA Network, which are due to split from NBCUniversal and undergo a restructure under new company, Versant. PGA Tour star Keith Mitchell will team up with Steve Sands as an analyst, while Anna Jackson and Johnson Wagner will take care of pre and post-show coverage.

The competition will unfold at Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida – a fitting reason for Kai to join the broadcast team. The 18-year-old has become a well-known face on golf social media and has pledged her commitment to the University of Miami, where she’s poised to kick off her collegiate golf career next year.

Despite finishing at the bottom in an LPGA Tour event last month, Kai held her own.

She recorded an opening-round 83, ending four shots above the next-worst score.

However, in the second round, she bounced back with a more respectable 75, equalling the score posted by two-time major champion Lilia Vu that day.

Reflecting on her time on the LPGA tour, Kai confessed: “The first day, I’ve never been more nervous.

“That was like the [Republican National Convention] times 30. It was very nerve-racking.

“For the nerves, I played well the first day. Then, the second day I kind of went out there and was like, ‘Ok, no more nerves.’ The nerves weren’t as bad and I did really well. So, I mean, it was a great experience. Thankful for the opportunity.”

With a whopping six million followers across Instagram and TikTok, Kai’s social media clout is set to give the Golf Channel Games an unmatched promotional boost.

While her exact role in the broadcast is yet to be confirmed, her involvement is sure to reel in more viewers.

Despite her rising fame, Kai has previously stated that she doesn’t let online comments get to her. “I just stay away from it,” she said.

“It doesn’t really affect me because, I don’t know, I know who I am. It doesn’t really matter, to be honest.

“People say whatever they want to say at the end of the day. I know what’s true and I know the type of person I am. It doesn’t really matter.”
