Wallethub, a personal finance website, said it compared everything from the per-capita number of coffee shops, restaurants and wellness centers to nightlife offerings such as music venues, dance clubs, festivals and comedy clubs.

Outdoor recreation also played a large role, including park access, public beaches, hiking trails, marinas, golf courses and sports venues.

Cost factors were heavily weighted, including beer and wine prices, food costs, bowling and movie prices, fitness-club fees and hotel rates.

“The top cities offer affordable options for year-round fun for their residents, which is good for residents’ wallets and their mental health,” said Chip Lupo, an analyst at WalletHub, which declared Las Vegas as its No. 1 pick.

Got it covered

A commercial flooring business from the Quaker State has picked the Lowcountry to fill a hole in East Coast supply chain.

Bristol, Pa.-based Stanley Stephens Co. Inc. announced it recently has opened a new distribution  center in Summerville, its first location in South Carolina, along with another in Alabama. The exact locations were not disclosed.

The company said its new warehouse operations will stock a full range of flooring products and join a string of nine East Coast supply hubs the 48-year-old company has opened between New York and Miami.

The expansion “reinforces the company’s commitment to providing exceptional customer service with next-day delivery capabilities throughout the Southeast,” Stanley Stephens said in a prepared statement.

Bah, humbug

The American Christmas Tree Association said consumers might see higher price tags on holiday decorations this year due to tariffs.

The group predicted an undersupply of trees this year due to fewer purchases and rising costs. The study found that on average, major retailers have reduced their purchases by 15 percent to 20 percent due to increased costs, which may lead to early sell-out of stock and an undersupply this holiday season.
