Today sees the release of the new PXG Lightning range. And yes, you only need to take one look at me to know PXG and I get on very well, which is exactly why this video is already controversial. But let me say it straight away. This is not an ad. The swings are real, the results are real, and the outfit, well, that’s just awkward timing. We’re going to take a look at the full lineup, driver, fairway woods, and hybrids, and see why this is the lineup to beat in 2026. Right, welcome back to the channel. in what is a very exciting day for for PXG at least anyway. They released their new lineup of woods, hybrids, fairway woods, and a number of drivers. It’s the broadest range we’ve seen out from PXG yet. It is PXG Lightning, and we’re going to go through every single product in today’s video in some great detail. First interesting fact about the drivers is for the first time ever, PXG have released this in four head types. We’ve got the tour, the tour mid, we got a 10k version of the max, and we’ve got the max light as well. What’s really interesting for me is their forgiveness elements in every category. You normally find that in just the 10K model, but if you take a look here at these numbers across the board, even in that tour model, there is huge amounts of MOI, which has never been seen before across the board. So, the first thing to note, if you’ve got Black Ops, what is the difference in the new lightning model? First of all, there is a significantly different soul. The amount of carbon that you see in the sole of the new drivers is vastly different than in Black Ops. And the way they’ve done that is by shifting weight around again and repositioning it. The two forward weights have been moved forward, but also they’ve been moved inward as well in terms of the positioning. And the rear weight has moved from the sole of the club into right at this very back end. So, you got a huge amount of carbon now into that sole, which allows for more weight distribution elsewhere. There’s also a major difference in this stiffened sole as they called it which has a major impact on how your face reacts and how the frame reacts to the face through impact which obviously is there to increase ball speeds. But rather than me go through that I had a quick chat with Caleb who’s one of the head engineers at PXG who will probably give you a bit more detail than I can. Uh our main goal uh kind of going into the lightning design project from the get-go um was to keep some of the uh really positive things we saw in the Black Ops line. The you know the launch conditions were spectacular. We got great distance performance from high launch, low spin. Um and they were really forgiving package and a lot of adjustability. So we wanted to kind of keep those and build on it. Um and one area we wanted to focus on was ball speed. So, we wanted to make sure we were improving ball speed without giving up uh the the launch and spin and forgiveness. Um, and those things usually kind of counteract each other. Um, the easiest way to gain more ball speed generally with a driver pushing the CG more forward. What that’s going to do is lower your MOI. It’s going to lower your launch. And, you know, even if your speed’s up, our opinion is that is that is not what’s best for most golfers. And what we came up with was our frequency tune face. The idea behind that is that uh drivers so they deflect at impact and they’re at the limit they have been for a while in terms of spring-l like effect right the USGA has a set limit their drivers have been there for a while and very careful to make sure we’re up against it but within conformance so what we found was that at a specific vibration frequency we’re actually able to get a little bit more efficient. So while the face is bending, it’s also vibrating. And we tuned that frequency to vibrate at a specific rate so that as it’s as the ball is leaving the face, as the energy is being imparted onto the ball, uh the most speed possible is going towards the target. So the face is vibrating and coming back in its cycle towards the target as it’s imparting energy, which the majority of the speed is coming from that deflection, but that little bit extra that gain is coming from that synchronized vibration. Now, first of all, for my own personal experience, the custom fit went really well. And I think to me, that’s the major key in all of these products we’re going to discuss um during this video is this weighting system is very unique to PXG. You’ll see it in every one of these models that I show you now. Three weight ports mean that there is a huge amount of adjustability in that head. Obviously, along with the huzzle as well means that the custom fit process is a must in my opinion for PXG. And uh what I achieved in terms of results out there during my fit was incredibly good. But then we brought it back to Chester and again really happy with the way the club has performed. My sort of carry distance is going to be in around 230 235 is going to be maxed out. But it’s really nice can hit the ball down the right hand side but then also try and attempt to hit it back with a bit of a cut from the left. So, this tall mid, by the way, I should have pointed out, is the head that I got fitted for, which again would be something that is really important about custom fit. If I had bought one off the shelf, I’d have probably leaned towards the Max 10K as being the obvious driver head for me. But in terms of numbers, in terms of that custom fit process, it was this tall mid model, which first of all, I really like the profile of, but secondly, just did really, really well across the board in terms of those numbers. So, couldn’t be happier with what we did out there in Arizona, but then to bring it back to the UK and see it in the sort of in in in my environment. It was good to see that it’s still performing as was uh that’s a Diamana uh 60 stiff shaft as well, which performed incredibly well and is in the Fairway Woods, which we’ll go to next. Now, the Fairway Woods for me, um first of all, two models to talk about. You’ve got the tour and the standard. And the major differences is this. In the tour model, you’ve only got two weight ports, a front and a back. And in that standard model, you’ve got the three weight ports. I don’t have the tour to hand. But again, huge amount of adjustability, which is key to getting that dialed in. There’s a very much a difference in their head profile between the tour and the standard. And that’ll be very much down to your personal preference. And the other one major point to reference is the tour model has only a three and a fivewood option. Whereas in the fairway woods, for the first time ever, PXG have gone from a 3-wood right the way through to an 11wood. So that’s 15° through to 27°. I think the kind of 7, 9, and 11 could be incredibly successful with a lot of golfers. I’ve got the sevenwood in the bag. I did try the nine as well, and I’m hoping to get hold of an 11wood to see what that does. The Ninewood was an absolute just launched the ball so high, so easy to play and will work for so many golfers. But it’s great to see that they’ve broadened the sort of options in terms of uh three through to 11wood in that standard model. So then you move into the hybrids and the hybrids choice narrows down again if you like and there is only one model available. They’ve got the three-way ports which you can see. Uh I I can’t you can’t get away from the fact that that is a unique element within PXG’s clubs. So within these woods, that to me is the biggest selling point because the ability to get that club dialed in to your specific swing, your specific requirements, I don’t think can be achieved with any other brand any better. I think it’s it’s a system that I think is is their uh their USP. And I think if you’re into custom fit, then you don’t really need to look much further. Um, and it makes a significant difference. Like I said, there are only there is only one model, but what they have done again is for the first time ever, they’ve brought out hybrids which are available from a two, which I think is 17°, and they’ve gone right the way up to an eight hybrid, which I forget the loft of, but again, for me, you know, I’ve been very keen this year on a swapping out longer irons for lofted fairways. And I’m very tempted to sort of my own gain sort of the six is already in there. I even like the seven and the eight was so easy to use that I can honestly see this year them that PXG having a huge impact in that kind of sway towards hybrids being in more average golfer’s bag. And again during the weeks ahead we will be looking at or closer looking at lofted hybrids and lofted fairway woods in a bit more detail and see what they did in terms of data. We had a quick look with the fairway woods. We had a quick look with our hybrids. You’ll see the numbers there. They they did what they’re supposed to do in terms of carry distances, but the impressive thing for me with the data I collected here was the consistency. Um, all parameters stayed pretty much on the number. And I’m talking about carry distance, spin number, launch angles, descent angles, they were all very consistent. And for me, that is what uh forgiveness looks like. I think it’s hard to measure that uh that in a in a in a number. It’s often something that is talked about by every brand that this is the most forgiving range they’ve ever brought out. But I for me is it’s always going to be consistency uh of the variety of strikes that I’m going to impact on that uh on that club face because you like me is probably going to be left, right, and center. So to see that consistency was across the board is really nice to see. I don’t think there’s a great deal more to for me to feed back in this what is a first look. Like I said, during this week, which is dedicated to PXG’s launch, we’ve got a custom fit video coming with a 15 handicap golfer. Um, which is going to be really interesting to see. He’s moving from an older driver into the Lightning. Let’s see what they do there. We’ve got some uh videos coming up with those lofted fairway woods, which is me trying out the sort of 678, comparing it to irons. Really interested to see that. And a similar thing with the fairway woods as well. How much are those lofted fairway woods going to help and how much impact would they have on a lot of average golfers games? That’s what we’re really interested in looking at this year. They look superb. I think uh the one last thing to mention fair uh the head cover game is pretty strong as well. I like what they’ve done. I like what they always do with their head covers, but they’ve split it up a little bit. We’ve got some black and white there. Something a little bit different. Overall, super impressive range. Um, I think yet again, it’s not necessarily what happens in my hands, it’s what happens in yours. So, if you’re going to buy them, get into a store, get custom fit, and uh see what this Lightning range does for you. But it’s a real interesting development from PXG and one that is a pleasure to see and test. Right, that’s it. As ever, thank you for watching. Short and sweet this one. That’s our overview. Don’t go anywhere because tomorrow night we’ll have something else from this range. Not too sure which one is yet, but there’s plenty more to come from the PXG Lightning Woods range this week.

  1. Thanks for the video. These are the best looking drivers from any company in a really long time. Maybe back to Titleist ts line, maybe rogue st, probably all the way back to Mizuno st190. And this blows all those out of the water. I hope the performance is there to match

  2. The guy in the blue shirt when Caleb was explaining, looks suspiciously like legendary NZ fast bowler Richard Hadlee

  3. So PXG are the first to release this year! It will be interesting to see how they compare to their previous models and the other brands offerings. Will you be doing these?

  4. Saw Black Friday sale, booked a fitting, launched new stuff and pulled deals. So, getting a fitting for the new line up.

Just got the gen 7 irons. 😎

  5. Will you be doing head to heads with the other drivers coming out? Regardless of you being fitted to the PXG driver, I’m curious how it will compare. I game a Taylormade Stealth 2 and tried to get a black ops driver fitted but it didn’t give me the window or flight path I wanted, the fairway wood on the other hand, that was awesome. I did hit a qi35 fairway wood and it went further but not as consistent as my black ops fairway wood.

  6. PXG are out of the blocks, good selection however main beneficiaries are golf ball manufacturers, lots of balls in woods and lakes, for average golfers i think they need to concentrate on Mini Drivers, they are just easier to control = more fairways
