No questions, just happy to have completed my first round. Took lessons back in October, got some clubs and have been in the sim 3-4x/week.
Finally got out to try my first round in November and couldn’t make it through due to back pain (may be bad form, may be just not being accustomed to walking with the bag that far, may be a bit of both). Even though I went out just to have fun and get out there. Was soooo much harder than I thought it would be, though I did get a par.
Took Tylenol this time around and got a cart to ensure I made it through. Was wonderful, took an extra day off work coming back from a trip to Korea with the wife. Cold early Monday morning, basically had the course to myself through 9 holes. I was moving fairly slowly even after watching approx 100 hrs of how to play ready golf. Let a number of gents play through who were super nice.
Ended the day +52, though honestly I’m just happy to have finished and did somehow manage 1 birdie on a par 3 (and got a nice shot from the gentleman I let play through).
Loving this game, loving the community. Probably going to be tough to get out over the next few months in NYC but if anyone is down happy to connect.
Heading to Florida for the holidays and golfing w/ my FIL, hopefully the warmer weather helps me out a bit haha.

tough time of year to do it, welcome!
52 over with a birdie is insane. Biggest scoring hole?
Beautiful day to do it!
I started playing last year at age 53. I’m not in *terrible* shape but I have no flexibility. I’m going to spend the winter working on stretching drills and some core strengthening. Swinging a golf club made me sore in areas I didn’t know I had. I was a decent athlete 30 years ago, not so much now.
With that said, it sounds like you have the bug! Just get out there, have fun and keep pace of play if you aren’t alone on the course. If you are alone, take advantage. Hit those provisionals and don’t be hard on yourself.
The game is hard and frustrating but it’s also supposed to be fun. I get an unreasonable amount of satisfaction out of the half dozen or so “good” shots I hit every round. The dopamine is real.
Good shit. Love to see it.
Do yourself a favor, get a push cart.
Do yourself another favor, keep taking lessons regularly.
Hell yeah, I did the same thing a few months ago. And I totally agree, in the beginning you’re happy to just get through a round while keeping pace of play.
Is this forest park in queens
What part of FL? Good luck on the journey, just started over a year ago myself!
Welcome to addiction! Good to see you!
I dont know you but I love this for you. Hope you had fun!
Forrest park lol
I wouldn’t keep score for your first few rounds. Your score is the least important thing right now.
