Yuk Assaj’s LIIV golf dream from surreal to reality. Imagine the feeling of achieving a lifelong dream only to find it almost too unbelievable. That’s the reality for Japanese golf star Yos Asaraji who is still processing the fact that is officially a LIIV golf player for the 2026 season. It’s a pinch me moment he anticipates truly understanding once he tees off in his first event. Securing a spot on the li golf league is a major achievement and this year only two players from the international series have made it happen. Asi and Scott Vincent of Zimbabwe the 2025 international series rankings champion. Assaj’s journey to this point has been nothing short of remarkable. After his first international series victory at the Maai Singapore Open, he earned his LIIV card just two weeks later at the PIF Saudi International, even though he didn’t make the cut. Even now, the reality of the situation hasn’t quite sunk in for Asgi. It still doesn’t feel real yet, he admits. It’s hard to fully grasp at the moment, but I’ve received so many congratulations. I suppose I’ll understand it better when the time comes. Looking ahead, Assaji is already focusing on key areas of his game to compete at the highest level. He’s particularly focused on improving his pudding, especially within 7 ft, and plans to work on his English to communicate more effectively on tour. And this is the part most people miss, the importance of communication in a global sport. The opportunity to compete against the world’s best players and major champions is what excites him most. He’s eager to test himself weekly against the top players, seeing it as an incredible opportunity and a challenge he’s ready to embrace. Assaj’s success has also thrilled those closest to him, including his best friend, Jinichiro Kosuma, a member of Iron Heads GC on Liv Golf. Koua shared how inspiring it has been to witness Assaj’s late season surge, especially after a challenging period on the Japan tour. Reflecting on his season across the international series and Asian tour, Asaraji expresses pride in his accomplishments. He never expected to earn a spot in LIIV golf, viewing it as a reward for giving his best at each tournament. He also plans to continue playing on the Asian Tour, an international series, as much as possible next year. As he prepares for two remaining tournaments on the Japan tour before the LIIV season opener in Riyad, Assaji is determined to maintain the same mindset that has brought him success this season. He plans to approach each tournament with the same focus and dedication. With Assari and Scott Vincent securing the two LIV golf places from the international series rankings, the focus now shifts to the upcoming LIIV promotions event from January 8th to 11th, 2026 at Black Diamond Ranch GC in Florida. This event will determine two more coveted spots. It’s an important week for many International Series players. The leading 10 available players from the top 20 of the final 2025 international series rankings will receive a buy into round two, while the next 25 available players within the top 40 who are not already exempt will earn entry into round one of the event. But here’s where it gets controversial. Do you think the current system of qualifying for LIIV golf is fair? What other factors do you think contribute to a golfer’s success at this level?
