LPGA Tour star Nelly Korda announced that she was engaged on Friday and posted several professional photos alongside her fiancé, Casey Gunderson.

The 27-year-old golfer is one of the best on the LPGA Tour, currently ranked No. 2 in the world after losing her No. 1 status to Jeeno Thitikul. Her engagement post has garnered almost 115,000 likes after going viral within the sports community, with WNBA star Caitlin Clark even extending her congratulations.

However, details of Korda’s partner have been kept relatively private, unlike her previous relationship with Andreas Athanasiou. Korda used to date the National Hockey League center, but is now engaged to Gunderson, a businessman who works for an engineering company.

Gunderson is not from a professional sports background; instead, he graduated with a degree from Bryant University. Gunderson then started his business career and joined Bisnow as an associate.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Gunderson then joined Florida Engineering LLC as the Director of Business Development. He is now the Vice President, and the company is developing commercial and residential projects in Florida and other major states.

While Gunderson didn’t pursue a professional sports career, he did play sports in high school. During his time at Cardinal Mooney High School, Gunderson played football at the IMG Academy, where he was a wide receiver.

Korda used to date Athanasiou, a Canadian hockey player who is currently a free agent. Athanasiou was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft and also played for the Edmonton Oilers, the Chicago Blackhawks, and the Los Angeles Kings.

After starting their relationship in 2019, it was reported three years later that they had separated. Korda then met Gunderson, and the couple is now engaged.

It’s been a whirlwind year for Korda, as although she’s now preparing for her wedding after an exciting announcement, she failed to win a single golf tournament in 2025. She finished runner-up twice, including a near-miss at the Women’s U.S. Open.

Failing to secure a victory saw Korda lose her World No. 1 status to Thitikul, but she remains optimistic for 2026. “I feel like there was a lot of ups and downs, and it made me grow a lot mentally,” Korda said.

“I would say I’m just also very grateful for it because, you know, success is never linear.” Korda has also been tipped for success by Clark, who has become friends with the LPGA Tour star.

After linking up with Korda on the course at the 2025 LPGA Annika pro-am, Clark said, “It’s been cool to watch here over the course of the last year.

“She put in a lot of time to create her own PE, and very unique to her and what she’s passionate about in herself, and obviously somebody that is very, very deserving, and been at the top of the sport for a long time now.”
