Fans in attendance nearly had themselves a share of $1m at the Australian PGA Championships in Brisbane.

The par three 17th hole at Royal Queensland Golf Club, dubbed the party hole, has a unique prize for any golfer who makes a hole-in-one.

And that’s every registered person in attendance at the party hole splitting $1m cash.

No one has made it since its inception in 2024, but Aussie Adam Bland came inches away from sending fans into a frenzy.

His shot on Sunday morning hit the edge of the cup, before bouncing out in dramatic fashion.

“Wow. That’s as close as it gets without going in,” commentator Nick O’Hern said on Nine.

Bland had to settle for a birdie, before tossing the golf ball to a lucky spectator in the crowd.

Nobody has made a hole-in-one during an eligible window for the prize yet. Kazuma Kobori’s ace on Thursday didn’t count, but built anticipation for the weekend.

Ultimately Bland’s shot was close, but no cigar.
