The DP World Tour’s 2026 Race to Dubai season was already up and running this week with the BMW Australian PGA Championship, taking place at Royal Queensland Golf Club, Brisbane, Australia, from 27-30 November 2025.

The first event on the Opening Swing, was an AU$2.5 million tournament, which holds a key place on the DP World Tour’s 2026 Race to Dubai, a season that concludes on the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai, UAE, in November 2026.

A strong mix of Australian and international contenders were headling the BMW Australian PGA Championship at Royal Queensland, led by Adam Scott, a two-time champion. Min Woo Lee arrived as a rising global star with his first PGA TOUR win in 2025 and a past victory at Royal Queensland. Cameron Smith, already a three-time winner of the Kirkwood Cup and the 2022 Open champion, returned after finishing runner-up last year. Cameron Davis was bringing consistent form and a proven record at this event with four straight top tens. Marc Leishman has enjoyed a revived 2025 season, highlighted by a LIV win in Miami and another strong showing in this championship last year. New Zealand’s Ryan Fox entered after two PGA TOUR playoff wins. Defending champion Elvis Smylie returned, boosted by a standout first full season on the DP World Tour. Joaquin Niemann continues to thrive worldwide with multiple LIV titles and past success on Australian soil. England’s Marco Penge has surged into the world’s top 30 after three wins on the DP World Tour. Abraham Ancer, the 2018 Australian Open champion, rounds out the group as he looks to claim the Kirkwood Cup on his first start at Royal Queensland.

The event also provided an opportunity for a host of DP World Tour Qualifying School graduates to make an early impression on the 2026 Race to Dubai.

David Puig followed in the footsteps of European golf great Seve Ballesteros as he became the second Spanish winner of the BMW Australian PGA Championship with a stunning two-shot victory.

The 23-year-old fired a flawless 66 on Sunday to finish the tournament on 18 under par and secure his maiden DP World Tour title on his 15th start.
