Callaway dumping Topgolf was not what I was expecting today

Top Golf was officially dumped by Callaway. So, here’s everything you need to know while we take a look inside one of the balls. The announcement came about an hour ago that Topgolf was going to split off and be its own company from Callaway after Callaway just bought it less than 4 years ago. And the whole reason for this breakup basically comes down to money. In the last year, Topgolf has brought in $1.8 billion, but Callaway has brought in over $2.5 billion. Also, we’re going to be using this line to cut down the ball so I don’t cut through the chip in the middle. And yes, you heard that right. Callaway is bringing in more money than Topgolf, which is honestly very surprising. And just this past November, Topgolf actually bought out their biggest competitor, Big Shots, for $29 million. The CEO of both companies spoke out today saying, “Hey, this is the best thing we could do for both companies because they run on very different models.” But what I think is the most interesting thing in all of this is that Callaway actually chose to keep Top Tracer, which Topgolf acquired back in 2016 before Callaway bought them. And that’s the technology that they use to track the golf balls at Topgolf, but also to track the golf balls on TV and at tour events. And this little chip inside the golf ball works handin-hand with that Top Tracer technology to make sure that you get the right points and can actually see it when you’re playing there, which makes the entire thing fun. So, let me know what you guys think of the Top Golf Callaway Split.
