Rory McIlroy has revealed that he’s given wife Erica permission to punch him, but it only applies in a very specific circumstance.
If she catches her husband taking the greatest achievement of his career for granted, then she’s allowed to punch him.
Having won the Masters earlier this year, McIlroy became one of only six golfers to achieve the career Grand Slam, and as a result, he’s been lugging the covetted green blazer around with him everywhere he goes — something which might be grating on him after all these months.

When speaking on CNBC’s Council Forum, the Northern Irish golfer explained how wherever he goes, everyone wants to see the green jacket so he’s had to learn to make sure he has it with him.
He shared: ‘I was in India a few weeks ago and I was in the Middle East the last two weeks, and most places you go, if you’re doing events, the people want to see the green jacket.
‘So you bring the green jacket with you, and sometimes, you don’t want to wear it, you know. You don’t want to. I sort of complained about wearing it in Abu Dhabi.’

It then dawned on him that complaining about such an achievement was crazy, and he enlisted Erica’s help to knock some sense into him.
He continued: ‘I said to my wife, Erica, if you ever hear me complain about wearing this thing again, like punch me or do something, because I’ve waited my whole life to wear this, and I’m complaining about wearing it.’
McIlroy became the most recent golfer to win the Grand Slam since Tiger Woods, who achieved it back in 2000.
