What are you going to do when your ball lands in front of one of these light stansions here at Bing Maloney? PGA associate and assistant golf professional Michael Bobbit here at the Bing Maloney Golf Complex and I wanted to talk about another rule specific to our championship 18hole course. As you know, Bing Maloney Golf Complex sits adjacent to the sack executive airport and hole number six on the championship hole sits right along the runway for airplanes taking off and landing at the airport. So, what do you do when you’re playing par five number six and your ball comes to rest right in front of one of these light stansions? This is a rule that’s governed by USGA 16.1, which would call this an abnormal course condition. Under USGA rule 16.1, you’re allowed free and complete relief from this light stansion with no penalty stroke. What you’re allowed to do is take your ball or a new ball and walk back along your line. And once you have complete relief from the light stansion, you can drop your ball and play with no penalty stroke. So next time you’re playing, remember you’re allowed complete relief from any of the light stansions on number six. And if you have any questions, this rule is on the back of your scorecard or come find me in the golf shop or check your USGA app on your phone. And make sure you send this video to your friend who needs to know this rule.
