Today I pulled up to Westlake Village looking for a random golfer to take on in a $100-per-hole match… and instead I found someone my age with an excellent swing, zero warmup, and an excellent attitude. What started as a simple “Hey, do you want to play a 1v1 match?” turned into one of the most unexpectedly competitive — and funniest — rounds I’ve ever filmed. From nervous first swings to guessing yardages completely wrong to some shockingly good shots, this match had everything.

Tony told me he hadn’t played in months and literally got off a plane an hour before we teed off… but he still agreed to take me on with money on the line. Throughout the round, we talked college golf, Sherwood, Pepperdine, and why his swing looks way too good for someone “who doesn’t play anymore.” Between the jokes, the flirty moments, and both of us trying to save our wallets, the energy on this course was unreal. Hey, this is super random. I’m wondering if you want to play me in a 1v one match. It’s for money, too. See time’s in like 5 minutes. I’m like a plus one. What are you? Like a plus two, plus three. Are you down? All right, we’re here at Los Robles Greens in Thousand Oaks, California. I’m freezing. And we are looking for a random golfer to play a money match with. I literally just landed and drove here. Landed probably an hour and 45 minutes ago and we are late for our tea time. I have to find a random golfer. I’m looking for someone I think over 21. We’re going to be doing a $100 a hole. I will not take any of the money, but if they win a hole, they get a 100 bucks. Let’s see who’s down to doing a match. Okay. Shoot. There’s nobody here. Literally no one. And that kid’s playing in the tournament. It looks like there’s a tournament happening. Uh, clearly there is. Southern California Junior Tour. So, that’s not a good sign for me because that means everybody’s Yeah. out on the golf course playing the tournament. These guys are older. Um, just hitting the range. So, this is not good cuz this actually looks like a good golf course. We’re going to have to think of plan B. Plus, I’m one minute before my tea time. This is not a good situation. I know that there’s another golf course, Westlake Golf Club. Um, which I could go speak to my friend George Gankis over there and see if there’s anyone down to play over there, but this is not looking good because there’s literally no one here. Oh my goodness. I would have liked to play this golf course, too. All right, I guess we’re going to go drive 15 minutes and see if we can find a way to to make it te time and find a way to find a random golfer to play against. Oh my gosh, that sucks because there’s nobody there. I obviously we can’t challenge uh kids who are, you know, 18, 17, you know, 16 years old to a money match. I don’t want to lose their I don’t want to ruin their eligibility for college. Okay, so we just pulled up to Westlake Village. There’s this kid right here in the pajamas. He looks about my age. His swing looks amazing. And I know he’s got to go to George Vancus. He’s got a George Vancus has to be his coach because he’s got that shallow swing, but he looks good. Let’s see that way. No, I’m not I don’t watch a lot of it. Even though I’m a YouTube golfer, I don’t watch a lot of it. Yeah. I played a lot in high school, but uh Oh, nice. I don’t think I played in like 7 months. So, this is this is my first swing, first putt, first everything. is um Pepperdine’s near Malibu, right? It’s all Malibu. It’s I’ve seen the campus. It’s gorgeous. Yeah, it’s very beautiful there. Uh found Tony to play a random golfer match against. um random kid that we just met. And this Okay, I’m I’m not I’m You guys know I don’t do excuses. I just don’t I It’s not part of me. But here we go. I’m about to I’m about to list them out. I just got off a plane. No swings. That’s the only That’s the only thing I have to say. I’m going to shut up from now on. I’ve never done excuses, but I feel like I’m going to shut up. Okay. He also has a plane in 7 months, so like that is an excuse, right? So, can we just balance it out? like like we’ll both have some excuse. Yeah. Like we’ll see if I shank my first shot. Yeah. Okay. It’s all good. Yeah.
