Playing a post-holiday round with some buddies while I visit and caught a ball to the back of the head on #11. Was sitting in the cart prepping to tee off and next thing I know I’m holing my head with blood everywhere. Group behind us shanked one on #10 (185y Par 3). NOT A SINGLE ‘FORE’! My one buddy was seething yelling at them for the lack of a safety warning, while my other buddy was on the horn with 911. It all happened so fookin’ fast!
An ER trip and a few staples later, I’m groovy. Please please please call fore. No one cares you hit an errant shot. Don’t be that person.

Good to hear you’re doing alright. People who don’t yell “Fore” piss me off so much. I got clipped in the ear during the summer off a hole that was to the right of us and none of the 8 people on the tee box (there was a massive slowdown in front of us) heard a peep. My group doesn’t care if we’re obnoxious about it. We scream if we have a bad shot. If it’s a course we regularly play at we like to shout the hole number too. Everyone is trying to have fun and don’t need to get hit and have their day ruined.
I almost had a life-changing injury this summer while sitting in the cart waiting for my buddy to hit. Not to mention my friend was in a high-vis neon green polo that day. We were hitting our shots into the green of a long straight #15 while another group was on the tee for the parallel #14. One of them hit a high speed stinger drive from 110 yards away and it whizzed through the cart and missed my unaware face by 2 inches, with the ball ricocheting off the clubs behind my head. No fore, no apology, just a shrug.
I was both fuming mad and contemplating life.
That’s like my worst fear when golfing bro glad to see you’re okay. If I see anyone even in the realm of where my shot is going I will scream fore I’d feel so guilty man those people suck yeah it’s embarrassing but look at what happens.

Should have just put some Vaseline in there and finished the round. 2 staples ain’t that bad.
I don’t think yelling fore does much typically but in this case it seems like a fore may have resulted in you instinctively ducking your head
Oh no! This is kind local course and have had to be on both sides of yelling fore from 10 or ducking on 11z That hole is directly left of the pin on 10, and have seen too many close calls, also from errant shots on hole 8.
Sorry that happened to you man. I hope the pro shop there will give you a raincheck or something.
Glad you’re ok man. Same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. We were on the cart path getting ready to finish on 18.

Oh man! I’m so sorry. This just happened to my son this week on Wednesday in Hilton Head. The guy yelled “Fore!” and my son (14) covered his face and ducked… not his head. Got clocked right in top/side of his head. Big goose egg, no blood. Luckily it was like a 9 iron or PW approach shot. Hope you recover quickly and get a free round

Oh Riverview… About 9 months ago we were parked in that death trap between 10 and 11. John who used to be a starter there DID call FORE like his kids were out there and his ball struck the pole for 11 in one of your pics. Glad you seem to be ok other than some staples and a headache. Cool when r/golf shows your home dog track wish it was under better circumstances.

If that’s Riverview in Santa Ana, what an odd course layout. Had more than a few close calls there over the years from the shank fest it indeed is.
