World No. 46 Min Woo Lee is poised to strike in Round 3 of the Australian PGA Championship, with the Aussie superstar starting the day two shots behind surprise leader Kazuma Kobori.

Lee carded a five under, 66 in the second round at Royal Queensland to move to eight under for the tournament with Kobori making the pace at ten under par.

Lee is in the third last group to tee off (9:20am AEST time).

Tee times have been brought forward a few hours because of expected afternoon thunderstorms in Brisbane.

Other notable names in the hunt at the end of Round 2 include Marc Leishman (-7), Cam Davis (-7), Marco Penge (-7), Adam Scott (-6), Geoff Ogilvy (-6), Ryan Fox (-5) and Elvis Smylie (-2).

Perhaps shockingly, Cameron Smith won’t see the weekend at his home town tournament after missing the cut on the back of an awful four over round on Friday.

Smith’s form since joining LIV Golf has tapered off significantly. He’ll be aiming to bounce back in a big way at the Australian Open next weekend.

His compatriot Davis is thrilled he’s in the hunt in Brisbane this weekend after what had been a down season on the PGA Tour.

After some time off over the past couple of months, Davis says he’s feeling refreshed.

“I was glad that I kind of already locked up my (PGA Tour) status for next year early enough to be able to take that time off … I feel like it is pretty much seven years straight where I haven’t taken an off-season,” Davis told Code Sports.

“I’ve just kind of grinded all the way through it. Playing in Australia is amazing, but it’s also the one little period of time the PGA TOUR is not playing, so if anything I was always playing more golf than a lot of the guys were over there.”

Davis has just teed off to begin Round 3. He is in a group with Leishman and Round 1 leader Sebastian Garcia.
