Paige Spiranac has broken her long silence on social media – kind of.

The popular golf influencer has a huge following across social media. Spiranac has more than four million followers on Instagram and more than one million followers on X. But Spiranac has been silent as of late. Until this weekend, Spiranac’s last post on X came on Nov. 8 and her last post on Instagram came on October 24. That’s an extremely long absence for someone whose job is, essentially, to post on social media.

But Spiranac has been in the middle of a social media scandal. She played in The Internet Invitational, hosted by Barstool Sports and Bob Does Sports. Spiranac’s group made it to the final round, though she was accused of cheating.

Spiranac, playing with “Big Mo” Malosi Togisala and Frankie Borelli, was taking on former Masters qualifier Brad Dalke, Francis Ellis and Cody “Beef” Franke in a final round alternate shot event.

During the final round, Spiranac was seen stomping around in some tall grass, appearing to attempt to improve her team’s lie. That is not allowed.

“I didn’t know you couldn’t do that,” said Spiranac, who played professionally.

Spiranac’s teammate, Borelli, defended her. He doesn’t think she was intentionally cheating.

“I totally don’t think that she was trying to do anything specifically to help us win. There’s so many cameras out there. She’s been at this for so long,” he said on Barstool’s “Fore Play” podcast.

“If you think that something that she had done crosses some sort of rule infraction, then like, I don’t know, people are allowed to have their own opinion. Do I think that she was trying to improve the lie? No. I also think that the footage probably doesn’t look the best.”

Spiranac finally breaks silence on social media – kind of

Spiranac posted for the first time in weeks on social media over the weekend. However, it was just a resharing of her video with LPGA Tour star Charley Hull.

She shared the video to her million-plus followers.

Spiranac had previously addressed the criticism of her performance in The Internet Invitational. She had been called out by some fans for her behavior during the event, as she had taken on a leadership role.

“There’s more important things than wanting to be liked,” Spiranac said prior to the final episode. “But I do want to be liked. And I want to fit in, and I’ve tried for a lot of my life to find places where I can fit in.”

The next morning, Spiranac wrote: “sorry for being emo last night but thank you again for all the super kind messages… I’ll save my deep[,] dark insecurities for therapy next time lol.”

However, she’s yet to address the cheating accusations that continue to swirl on social media. At this point, it seems like her strategy is to ignore it and let things die down on social media before choosing to post again.
