Donald Trump drew yet more accusations of narcissism with his response to a journalist’s question about the funeral of 20-year-old National Guard member Sarah Beckstrom, who was killed following an attack in Washington, D.C.

Asked whether he plans to attend Beckstrom’s funeral, Trump admitted he hadn’t “thought about it yet” but said it was “certainly something I can conceive of.”

“I love West Virginia,” he continued, referencing Beckstrom’s home state.

The president then pivoted to what critics said made the moment all about himself.

“You know, I won West Virginia by one of the biggest margins of any president anywhere, and these are great people,” Trump boasted.

“I love the people of West Virginia. I love the people of our country,” he added. “But I haven’t given it any thought — but it sounds like something I could do, yeah. It’s very raw.”

Critics on social media called Trump “truly the most demented malignant narcissist alive,” said he lacks empathy and called the moment “gross.”
