It all comes down to this game 162 in downtown Toronto. The Blue Jays taking on the Tampa Bay Rays when they win the American League East for the first time since 2015. They’re going with their ace Kevin Gausman. He of course, no stranger to big games. In fact, John Schneider told me yesterday that having a veteran in a big spot is really a luxury for this team. And so he goes into this game and the way that he’s pitched in the middle of the summer onwards , he’s really found his game. That’s the guy the Blue Jays want with the ball in his hand in this at bat, Richie Palacios. There is a soft, the left that’s going to fall for a base hit. Palacios has a leadoff single junior came to the plate for Tampa Bay runner on Palacios. The pitch is Lowe throw to second base. Palacios Bills are checking with the replay room to see if they want to challenge this car early in the game and they’re going to wave it off, grounded up the middle Davis Schneider up with it on to first for the out as Palacios takes third one out. Palacios on third and Aronda jonathan and that’s a base hit into center field and the Rays have the first run of the ball game around really? With a nice stroke right there. Didn’t try to do too much. He was out over the plate and he just stayed on it and drove it past the run and infield as I comes in to score on the ground to first flatty steps on first for one, close to second on the run. And that’s a 36 double play to end the top of the first strike for a run on two hits over drives in Palacios 1 to 0. Tampa Bay, Ian Seymour. He makes the start today for Ian Seymour and the opportunity he’s had, he’s got four starts on the year and he’s 3 to 1 and 1 to 2 to 1 in the four starts. He’s pitched a heck of a job back to back walks and the Blue Jays have two on with nobody out. Vladimir Guerrero Jr is trying to snap out of a thunk homer in 20 games to right field. A base hit. Springer is getting the way and he is on his way to the plate. Guerrero has tied it with an RB I single. How about that? Vladimir Guerrero Jr coming, coming through in a big spot. There’s a swing and Miss Santander is out number one 1st and 2nd 1 out Dalton V show up for Toronto and it’s a base hit. Both runners had to make sure it got down. So Schneider will not score but the bases are loaded. Huge spot early. Alejandro Kirk is the batter hit a home run yesterday. Can he get anything in the air here in this big spot slam to left field going back Palacios when they and the Blue Jays lead 5 to 1 in the first. Perhaps the biggest swing. Alejandro. The Blue Jays scored five in the , his first career grand slam. Now that you’re up by four runs. If you’re kevin Gosman, your job is to fill up the strike zone and do what you do. Miss two down, two quick outs here in the top of the second on a hop to first spinning stop by races to the back. He got him. That’s the top of the second inning. Nice play over at first by Vladimir Guerrero Jr 5 to 1 Blue Jays top of the third downtown Toronto, Kevin Gossman back on the hill for the Blue Jays and he got him swing and a miss strike three. There’s one out in the top of the third seems to be in Cruz control right now. 32 pitches in the ball game for Kevin Gosman 24 strikes and that’s a five pitch walk to the nine hitter Palacios turns it into a single two on now. Only one out and the dangerous junior cro coming up for the rays on the ground left side, diving stop, Clement pops up and holds it and fell out of everyone is safe but Ernie Clement does likely save a run one out top of the third with the bases loaded. Aronda has homered in each of the previous two games of this series to right field and it’s down for a base hit and this is going to score 22 runs in cro around to third and the Rays are back within two. Not a terrible pitch from Kevin Gosman, but Jonathan Aronda is a really good hitter. He goes down and gets that split finger breaks his back actually and dumps it into right field for a couple of RBIs. So it’s 5 to 3, they’re on the corners, there’s still just one out and the batter is Josh Lowe ground ball to first Guerrero coming home and the tag looked like he had about a half second of, do I go home or try to turn two? He comes home and they get the out and it’s still 5 to 32 out to center field. It’s a base hit. Ronda is on his way to the and will score and it is 5 to 41 run game 5 to 4. The Blue Jays lead the Rays in the top of the third that will tip strike three that will do it for the top of the third rays make it a one run game scoring three on four hits 5 to 4 Blue Jays, he’s got a double, almost took it out to left center again and he’s in scoring position with two outs in the bottom of the third. Can Addison Barer get him home swing and a miss strike 37 K’s three innings for Ian Seymour. And after the two out double, he strands Kurt to keep it a one run game. Big double steal. Now up to third goes Williams and Seymour behind him in the second and that’s ball four and that will load him and here comes Snyder right after him. Looks like we’re going to have a pitching change here with Jonathan Aranda. He’s two for two driven in three runs against Kevin Gosman today and there’s the call to the bullpen. So it will be Mason Fo Hardy to face Jonathan Ada. Here is zero for three against. This is as tough a hitter as they have strike three punch out. Hardy throws his hands in the air to fire up the Rogers center crowd. Hillstrand the bases loaded in the Blue Jays lead it 5 to 4. John Scheer goes to his bench for the first time in the game. Andres Jimenez, a left handed hitter on the lefty starter, Ian Seymour has been lifted for Edwin Ueda 1st and 3rd 1 out 54 Blue Jays bottom of the fourth high in the air to right center field. This should be deep enough low. The Clement will tap coming to score and Jimenez and the Blue Jays lead it 6 to 4 in the bottom of the fourth patient. Santander takes a four pitch walk to lead off the inning. Alejandro Kirk to the plate. Now, a homer and a double in two at bats. Santander on first one out field go in the, my goodness. It two homers. Six Blue Jays up 8 to 4 1st and third two outs. top of the sixth. Junior. Camera can easily make this a one run game with one swing. He’s got 45 homers this year and steps up Marland set, looking at camera on the ground up the middle, Jimenez stumbles gloves , his ankles flips over to second to end the top of the sixth inning. A little two out trouble with a walk and a hit but Varland strands a pair 84 Blue Jays and the Blue Jays cooking again in the bottom of the seventh. Ruso remains at first two down and here’s Addison Marchi Addison Barger, the Blue Jays lead 10 to 4 in the seventh. And how nice is that to see Andis Barger get it, getting his power stroke going again. Would be another huge boost for this offense down and away ball four. He’ll take a walk here. The Blue Jays now up by six leading 10 to 4 out to right center. This ball headed toward the gap. It’s down bouncing toward the wall. Clement to third. He gets the wave straw tugging for third. He’ll dive in head first. Ernie scores R I triple miles strong four for the Blue Jays. George Springer hits for the Blue Jays runner on third two outs. Bottom of the seventh, Brian Baker, a former Blue Jay into the game. Next pitch is hit right center pretty deep. Going back at the wall, it is gone. George Springer to right the Blue Jays up 13 of four. What a team, what a year, what a game today. They’re up by nine on the Rays. One out away fans to their feet. Over 42,000 and Roger Center hooked on the ground to first but he has a close to the is in first. The Blue Jays 2025. It’s been 10, but they sit a top this top division again. These fans love this team, no matter where they’re from. They travel far and wide to get here and enjoy this moment. And it has been a special special season.

Yikes! Santander had an awful year, it seems (.177?).
No, Seymour doesn't have it.
Gausman is a very poor man's ace.
Caminero ending the year in a long slump.
