Hello, my fellow golf ball addicts. First of all, happy Thanksgiving. I hope you all have a wonderful day with family, friends, uh or even if you’re just by yourself and you’re just enjoying a good meal for once, that’s great, too. I hope you have a wonderful, wonderful rest of your day and holiday season. However, we have to get into this top 100, and I am very excited to do that. Today, we start with 100 through 90th. Now, the way this differs from in past years is that these golf balls, well, they’re not very good. But it’s not like last year where these were the worst of the worst. Remember how that was last year, the 100 through 90 was the worst of the worst. And I was going on these rants. There was actually like 20 golf balls that I just listed yesterday in the video, you know, the little introductory video. And we already talked about how all of those golf balls didn’t even make the top 100. Those are the true stinkers this year. Unfortunately, these do I recommend using them most of the time? No. We’ll talk about it in depth. Let’s just go ahead and get right into it. These are not the worst, but there’s a lot of room for improvement. [Music] Let’s start with number 100. The hundth ranked golf ball this year is [Music] I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little disappointed. Uh, Pinnacle, the Rush, has always been one of my favorite two-piece models because it’s a titleless ball, comes out of the Titalist factory, really good for average players. Uh, a lot of explosiveness, bouncy ball, really good responsiveness around the green for a two-piece that is. Uh, but they discontinued those golf balls. The Rush and the Saw, from what I understand, are no longer in production. And instead, they came out with the World Long Drive golf ball this year. And when I heard that, I thought, “Wow, it’s ruined.” Um, and I’ll tell you why. Right. Every golf ball I’ve seen in past years that does this, whether it’s Volulvvic, whether it was Top Flight, they had the Bomb one year, which was the World Long Drive and E9 was, you know, Bridgestone E9 was one year. They switch it up every single year. And those golf balls notoriously do not test well for me, and this was no different. Let’s bring up the rankings from this year for the Pinnacle. As you can tell, 50 yard spin, it ranks 77th. Remember, this is out of like 120 golf balls somewhere in that ring. 121, I think. uh pitching wedge, uh total distance, that’s what yards mean, total distance. N 95th, 91st in mile per hour, 26th in spin. So, it did spin a decent amount for a two-piece golf ball, but then it didn’t have any pop behind it. 89th in yards when it comes to seven iron, 108, 99. I mean, look at all that red. And then when it came to the money maker, when it came to the driver, the thing it’s really supposed to do well, it did okay. I mean, it wasn’t bad. 45th, you know, 32nd ball speeds, 57th. You know, I did a little bit of on course testing with this golf ball as well, and I did enjoy it with the driver. I really did. I mean, it does have that pop. It’s not super forgiving. The problem I guess I have with most world long drive golf balls is they’re just kind of like a one-trick pony and they’re a marketing gimmick. You know what I mean? It really just feels like they’re basically, hey, it goes really long and and then they can’t even get that right half the time. And so, I’m really disappointed. Please bring the Rush back. Do not discontinue it. Please keep it going. It’s by far a better golf ball. This was a big disappointment. Probably one of the biggest disappointments of the year. At number 99, we have [Music] So, when it comes to holograms, you know, Michael Jackson, cool. That’s neat. Get to see him on stage dancing. golf balls not as cool, not as fun. Uh, you know, bad, but not not in the Michael Jackson way. Bad, like bad. You know what I mean? So, the Volulvvic Axia essentially kind of felt like a gimmick. It was a newer golf ball this year. It has a holographic 360 line, which you guys know I love a good 360 line. Uh, what I don’t love though is mediocre performance. And unfortunately, that’s kind of where we were at. If we look at this golf ball here, 63rd, 61st, 52nd, there’s a lot of mediocre in there. When we get to the 7iron, it ranked dead last when it came to seven iron yards. Then it came in second to dead last when it came to ball mile per hour speed. So, the 7iron, the mid-ir performance just was not good. And it spun a decent amount. So, you add a good amount of spin on top of the fact there’s no pop off the club. That’s a recipe for disaster. Uh driver, not that bad. I mean, 36th in distance. uh 31st in ball speed and then when it came to spin, it spun really high. It just just too much of this. You know, it’s a cool idea. I like the idea of it, but you know, that’s kind of what separates a golf ball from being a gimmick and being a cool feature. Gimmicks don’t perform. Cool features perform, but hey, did you also know that it has a, you know, 360 alignment tool that’s holographic? That’s the difference there. And unfortunately, this one did not perform. At number 98, we have Now, a lot of you know from my top 10 and top five videos that Snider does kind of have a niche and it has a stick, right? Um, it’s basically a golf ball that is designed for spin. And, you know, there’s really no difference here. When it comes to the soft plus, it has a lot of dimples, over 400 of them. It is designed to get up in the air and, you know, help golfers who have a slower swing speed, who need a little bit more height. If you’re someone in that, yeah, this could be a great golf ball model. As an average swinger who doesn’t need that, that’s a little too much. Uh, it just didn’t work out that well. But let’s look at the numbers here. Here’s the charts. Here’s the rankings. As you can tell from 50 yard spin, it actually ranked 44th, which is not bad, especially for a two-piece golf ball. It did really well. But when it came to that pop off the pitching wedge, I just didn’t get it. Over a 100red in both of those rankings. Now spin 27th again that’s spin which is great but having high spin and low mile per hour is again a recipe for disaster not my favorite 7 iron again you know 88th 89th not great 65th in spin and then when we comes to driver it actually had low spin which is great uh but it had uh not a lot of pop off the club and not a lot of total distance unfortunately so you know those numbers aren’t terrible I mean you can kind of work with that at least there’s some consistency there but overall the lack pop off the club really tells me that this golf ball is meant for really slow swingers and as an average swinger it just didn’t perform and so that’s why it got as low as it did. But like I said, it could still be an option for some of you. Those dimples, there’s not a lot of golf balls that have over 400 dimples on the market. So if you need higher ball flight, this could be one of them. At number 97, we have Encore is a little disappointing for me. You know, when I started doing this 5 years ago, you almost six years ago now, um, Encore was kind of one of those big players in the direct to consumer market. Like, you had your cut, you had your Vice, and you had Encore, and it was right there. I mean, they signed Josh Allen, big-time quarterback. uh they still have him signed, but it feels like at this point they’re okay or they’re content just kind of, you know, hanging out in the shadows, being, you know, under the radar, right? That doesn’t work for direct to consumer golf balls in today’s age. It just doesn’t. Um you have to stand out. There’s so many models. You got golf balls like Legato pumping out material, new models, uh you know, updated graphics, constantly chipping away. And then you got Encore that’s just like, “Yeah, man. You know, times were better five years ago.” And it’s like, “Okay, that’s great, but I need to see good performance.” They I mean, this golf ball in particular, the Encore Elixir, it’s the 2022 model, so next year will be four years without a new model. I mentioned this when I did the review. I don’t know what’s going on, but please, I want you guys to succeed. Come out with a new golf ball, have a little bit of advertising. I mean, something just I don’t see you guys anymore. I used to see advertisements all the time. I don’t anymore. So, I don’t know quite what’s going on, but it’s it’s kind of disappointing. And if we look at these performance numbers as far as how they ranked, look at all the red in there, you know, 95th, 97th, 91st. Now, pitching wedge spin, it did great on, as it should. It’s a three-piece urethane. Uh, but when it comes to yards, 112th, 114th, 86, just all h. And then driver, you know, driver was okay. Uh, spin really great. That’s probably the best part of the golf ball is pitching wedge spin and driver spin. those two things. But if I’m trying to sell you a golf ball, what am I supposed to do there? Right? I’m like, “Hey, listen. You should get this golf ball. Why?” Well, the spin on the pitching wedge is great and the driver spins really low. Oh, okay. How’s the distance? At number 96, we have Yeah. So, this is a golf ball that I actually don’t have any beef with. Um, it is designed for extremely slow swingers. I would argue that you could even say it’s a a women’s ball, and that’s not an insult. That’s just because of the compression. It’s so so so soft. It’s so so so squishy. I like that they put the little 360 design on it this year. That was really cool. Nice little touch. Um, but if you look at these numbers, you can kind of see the story I’m I’m telling you kind of, you know, a little bit of of the pattern we got here. When it comes to 50 yard spin, okay, not a lot, but pitching wedge distance, it exploded off the pitching wedge. Did not have a lot of ball speed. It had low spin, so it’s designed just to get more distance, but that’s what a lot of these really, really soft golf balls do. They perform really well with the pitching wedge. Then when it comes to your seven iron, actually, it still performed really well. 12th in yards, 47th in ball speed. Okay. But spin, no, it doesn’t have a lot of spin. It’s a distance golf ball for slower swingers. Then when we get to the driver, it’s overcompressed. It’s 117th, it’s 118th, it’s 96. It’s dog water. That’s all there is to it. And I actually don’t mind that because that’s what soft golf balls traditionally have done for me. They have been excellent with the pitching wedge, pretty good with the seven, and then by the time you get to driver, I’m overcompressing and it’s not good. I’ll take that. That means that if you’re a slower swinger and you need more distance, you don’t really concern yourself with the spin as much, you just got to get it as far as you can, this could be a great option for you. And I do love that 360 line they put on it this year. I think that’s great. Wilson makes an awesome value golf ball. They have for years with us. I mean, they test really well time and time and time again. At number 95, we have Another example of a golf ball that is softer. It’s designed for a slower swing speed. I actually have a rant on this I I’ll go in just a minute. We’ll we’ll get there. Don’t worry. Um I know this is a golf ball a lot of you really like and you want to know the results of. It’s really soft and it’s really boring and there’s just not a lot here. In fact, if we look at the design, you know, the the rankings here, you can see it’s 58th in total spin, which for a three-piece, it’s not quite a urethane. It’s like a proprietary blend. I don’t care for that, especially considering the price point. It’s not a great value. 105th in total yards, 100th, 55. I mean, in 7 yard distance, it did really well, but if you look at the seven iron spin, it’s one of the lowest. It’s actually the third lowest I tested this year. So, it’s one of those things where like, yeah, it got really good distance. Well, that’s because it’s not spinning. Okay, fair enough. Driver, kind of the same thing. Really low spin, really mediocre results. Um, I know some of you really like it that have a lower swing speed, but again, I have a rant here in a second or at least a question. Maybe maybe rant’s the wrong word, but we’ll get to that in just a moment. But overall, the ERC soft I just every time I test it, I initially have this reaction where I’m like, “Okay, yeah, no, it felt pretty good. Oh, it’s spinning. Okay.” And then you get to the data numbers and it’s like, “Oh, yeah. There’s not much I can hang my hat on, unfortunately.” At number 90, we have I know you hate me. I know you absolutely hate it. You’re you’re fuming right now. You’re mad. You got your fence your fist clenched up like this and you’re I knew human testing was not as good as robotic. I hear me out. I I I like the straight fly, but for some reason this year, I couldn’t get any numbers out of it. I’ve tested it a couple times. I’ve taken it to the course. I like the new designs they did. You know, this is really cool. You know, these new designs and stuff. That’s awesome. But the problem is is that it’s designed as a medium compression or even maybe a little on the firm side, just a smidgy wedge, but it doesn’t actually perform that way. like it’s designed as a two-piece distance golf ball, low spin, keep it straight, keep it in play. And I felt like there was a lot of other golf balls that did that better this year. And the reason I felt that way is because, well, the data and uh I have eyes and I also tested them. But look at these numbers. I mean, this is kind of what I’m talking about. Like, if we look at the rankings, 72nd, 50 yard spin, pitching wedge yards, bottom, bottom over 100. Anytime I see triple digits, I’m like, what’s going on here? That that’s terrible. The ball mile per hour speed, not great. And then look at the spin. It was one of the highest spinning golf balls I tested with the pitching wedge this year. That’s not supposed to happen. It’s a two-piece distance golf ball. It’s supposed to be low spin, maximum distance. Ah, I don’t like that. 7 yards, 99th, 7 mph, 102nd. Again, spin mediocre driver mediocre. But look at the driver spin. Really, really low. So, it had incredibly high pitching wedge spin, but then incredibly low driver spin. I I got a little bit of this and I love MaxFly golf balls. Nothing against them. I’ve recommended this golf ball to several people this year. I need to do more testing. I need to figure out exactly who it’s for because the main problem I’m having with it is two-piece distance golf balls. I want them to be explosive. If they don’t have spin, that’s fine, right? If they have the lowest spin, I’m cool with that. It’s designed to get it to go further. But when you have really really really good spin and no pop off the club, no ball speed, it it kind of leaves me shaking my head a little bit. And that’s why this fell so much. So I I apologize. I know a lot of you love it. It’s just the way it fell. [Music] Yeah. Look, I mean, Volv, I tested 16 models from Volvvic this year. Um, you can’t they can’t all be winners, right? They can’t all be winners. They’re trying to cover every single golfer that’s ever existed. And sometimes you’re going to have some winners and sometimes you’re going to have some losers. The problem I have with this one in particular is, let’s look at the numbers and I will show you. Uh, yeah, when it comes to 50 yard spin, it’s bottom tier. Uh, when it comes to pitching wedge yards, it’s amazing. But look at the spin. Dead last in spin when it comes to pitching wedge. And I’ll talk about that in just a second. 29th in yards, but again, seven iron spin, the bottom rank. So, I mean, that’s okay, I guess. Really mediocre throughout. I I mean, 87th in driver spin. It’s a high spinning golf ball. I mean, it did okay. It tried to hold its own, but it just because its lows were so low, it just couldn’t come up on top. I mean, it barely snuck in here. Now, when it comes to that pitching wedge spin, bottom, very bottom, right? I tested one one of the golf balls that’s in that list for the testing is the Bridgestone E12 Splash wet, right? Meaning I tested it two different ways. I tested it dry and then because the E12 Splash is designed to be wet and it’s designed to do better under wet conditions, I sprayed water on it and it got 600 RPM more average than this golf ball wet. And this one was dry. What are we doing? It’s pitching wedge spin. I need it to check up now. Do I need it to rip back to me? No. Do I need it to stop on a dime? No. But that thing’s on the next T- box. It It hit in front of the flag and rolled, went down the hill, went up, sat up, teed itself up, and it’s ready to go on the next T- box. I I can’t have no spin. I mean, a mediocre spin. I can kind of work with that if you have a high launch. Sure. No spin. What? You know what I mean? Imagine imagine you’re sitting there on the tea box and a ball rolls up to you and you’re like, “What in the world?” And you look on the previous hole and you’re like, “Oh.” Oh, no. There’s this divot. It just rolled up to Okay, it’s here. It’s here. Do you even get mad at the previous G? I don’t know. I just It’s bad. It’s really bad. It’s so bad. A golf ball that was wet tested better in pitching wedge spin. At number 92, the year I was born, we have So, this was the big controversy a couple days ago. A lot of people were upset that the QStar Tour didn’t even make the top 100. I then made a short talking about the rankings of the Qstar Tour, the non-divide version. The Divide version, however, does sneak him into the top 100, just barely by the skin of its teeth, but it does nonetheless. I I I don’t know why the numbers aren’t good. Maybe it is intended for a slower slower swing speed. Looking at this 69th, 47th, 49th, 92nd. Again, it doesn’t spin. I don’t get that. You’re paying $40 a dozen for a urethane golf ball. It should spin more than that. 77th and then look at all that red. 100 seven iron driver. Uh driver spin was great, which is really weird. uh fifth fifth lowest. I mean, come on. That’s that’s pretty incredible. Uh but the rest of it’s pretty mediocre and effect especially when you get to the seven iron ball speed, the seven iron spin. Um it’s just not great. Now, so here’s the question I have for you, right? When it comes to value tour balls from AAA companies like u you know your ERC soft, your title to soft u your Shrixen Divide or your QSTAR tour, uh the tour response from Tailor Made. Why can’t AAA companies get it right? What I mean by that is direct to consumer companies, whether it’s um you know, Legato, whether it’s Wright and Diten, whether it’s Penfold, whether it’s uh the Tour Edge, a Tour Edge Exotics came out with one this year. Why can they call up a golf ball factory and just say, “Hey, this is kind of what we want. we wanted our branded whatever and it’s awesome. But AAA companies that have all this R&D and all this just amazing technology and all this these years of history at their feet, why can they not get it right? Because let’s be honest for a second, the tour response from Tailor Made um this year really good, but the last few years have been rough. They started out really rough and they’ve had to build over the last few years. The Tour Soft from Titalist is a two-piece $40 a dozen golf ball. The Shrixen uh Divide or the the Qstar Tour, excuse me. I haven’t had good results with the ERC soft, no good results with. But if I go play a Legato, which is $22 a dozen right now on Amazon for a three-piece urethane, it’s almost perfect. I have a theory. It’s a hot take. I’m just going to give it to you. I want to know your thoughts. I think it’s marketing. I think they want it to not be that good so that when you say and you try it, hey, this golf ball isn’t performing. It’s not got that pop. It’s not, “Oh, well then go play our tour balls. I’m just going to leave that there for you, right? I’m just going to leave it on the table. You can do whatever you want with it.” I don’t know. It’s a hot take. I’m not going to call any specific company out. I’m not going to say that is for sure. It’s just an educated guess. It’s just I pulled it out of my rear end, but it’s on the table. I want to know what you think because why is it why is it that direct to consumer companies, Tour Edge Exotics, had never made a golf ball before, they call up a golf ball factory, hey, we want a three-piece value tour ball. Bring it in. It’s one of the best golf balls I’ve tested this year. But the ERC Soft’s been around for six, seven years, and they can’t get it right. There it is. You tell me. I don’t know. Anyway, at number 91, we have Oh, another Volulvvic model. Here we go again. You know what’s funny is I actually like the radiance. It’s very bouncy. It kind of reminds me of a ladies ball a little bit, but very explosive off the club. Bouncy, fun to hit. Kind of brought a smile to my face when I hit it. But we kind of go by numbers here, not feelings. Uh facts, not feelings, I guess. But uh yeah, let’s look at the numbers here and you’ll see why it’s 91st. when it comes to 50 yard spin, dead last. We’ll talk about that in just a second. Uh 38th when it comes to pitching wedge yards, which is not bad. 47th, 118th, that’s yeah, third worst. Uh 7 yard, you know, eh red driver is one of the worst I’ve seen. Uh you know, when you really look at pitching wedge 7 and you look at all your driver, all the rest of them, it’s not that bad. You know, there is some decency in there. I like the fact that it’s spun with the seven iron. When you look at the spin, this is what really confuses me. It’s really high spin with the seven iron. It’s really high spin with the driver, but it’s really low spin with the pitching wedge. And it’s dead last with the 50-yard pitch. It’s almost like that guy who um in high school, he shows up the day the group project is due and he’s like, you know, he’s confused. He got he got it switched, if you know what I mean. And so like it’s almost like the radiance was like it showed up and you know it’s kind of walking around chest out and it’s like hey yeah I have really high driver spin and the other golf balls are like you mean low. No no I have high one the highest and my pitching wedge spin is the lowest baby. Uh radiance you are you want that opposite. You want high and then that ghost look of oh I mixed them up. Oh no. That’s what it feels like with this golf ball. Dead last in 50 yard pitch. It was like 4,700 RPM. My average was 8,000. Like you’re you’re imagine you’re trying to hit a pitch shot and you hit it and it hits in front of the flag and it rolls down and rolls up on the next. Wait a minute. I just said this. Yeah, same thing except for 50 yard pitch opposed to pitching wedge. It’s abysmal. It’s kind of a ladies ball. Don’t use it. At number 90, we have [Music] I know a lot of you are going to be really upset about this and I get it. Uh here’s here’s the problem. The AVX truly is my nemesis. It is my nemesis because it’s the one golf ball I really can’t figure out. I can’t figure it out. I don’t understand why so many of you love it. This is the fourth year I’ve tested it now. And I’ve tested two different models. I can never get any decent results out of it. And when I say decent results, I’m talking bottom tier results. I’m talking results that are at the bottom of the list. And then I I hear from many of you via emails, comments, you know, oh, I love the AVX. It’s great for my game. I I get 5 10 yards more distance. I believe you, but I can’t figure out why with the average swing speed and and my swing it doesn’t work because it just doesn’t it it’s awful in my testing. Here’s the numbers to show you why. 50 yard spin, okay? You know, medium, that’s fine. Sure, I can work with that. But look at the pitching wedge distance. Uh 100th. Look at the mile per hour. 104th. Look at the spin. Really, really low. Look at the sevenyard. 117th 116th. And then from there on when you get to driver, you know, the driver spins pretty good, but again, a lot of mediocrity and especially when it comes to that seven iron, it’s arguably the worst I’ve tested this year. Why is that? I don’t know. I I I’ve tried to figure it out. I’ve taken it to the course. I can’t get good results. I’ve let my buddies play it. They can’t get good results. But then many of you are like, “Oh, no. I love it. It’s my favorite golf ball.” Maybe it’s just not for me. I don’t know. But I can’t get good numbers out of it. And this list is based on data and that’s what I’m working with. So, I’m sorry. I know that’s going to upset and trigger some of you, but it doesn’t work for me. I don’t like it. Especially for $50 a dozen. I got to have some decent numbers for $50 a dozen. I don’t. That is the first list of our top 100. That’s 100 through 90. I hope you enjoyed this. Love to know your feedback. We have 89 through 80 coming in just two days. every other day. Remember, that’s what’s coming. See you guys soon. Thanks so much for being here. Happy Thanksgiving.

  1. Only thing I’d add is 7i on the ranking charts for each ball instead of 7 at first was like huhh (home improvement)

  2. Happy thanksgiving been looking forward to this video nice of you to upload today cheers 👏

  3. Happy Thanksgiving and great video! No complaints here. ERC Soft, AVX, and Straightfli all doo-doo. 👎

  4. Think you’re giving the golf manufacturers more credit than they deserve. They make crappy balls because of cost constraints, material substitutions, and B-team design. They’re all profit driven, so they focus on clubs and higher margin items more than 2-piece balls. Sad, I know!

  5. Welp, I sense a distinct anti- soft compression list forming this year. I fear all the balls I use are gonna wash out early.

  6. AVX is my current gamer. I’m not at all bothered that it’s so low on your list. I’ve personally tested it with more than a dozen balls, and it performed best for me in tests and now out on the course. Our swing speeds differ, my swing speed is in the mid-80s. This is why it’s so important for everyone to discover what works best for their own game.

  7. I've been waiting for this !! I believe you hit the nail on the head with your comment on Top Brands marketing the Tour ball. I think it's about profit margins and less about 98% of everyday/weekend warrior golfer. Can't wait for the next list. Thank you for this channel !!

  8. I had the same feeling on the erc soft the feel is great and then the performance ends up being ok and then its a little overpriced too many good options at the 25.00 level

  9. I see a lot of people hype up the Duo Soft, but I did some on-course testing last weekend with the Duo Soft, Tour Response Stripe, and Bridgestone Electron. The Duo Soft did not feel good to hit at all compared to the other two, so this ranking makes sense to me

  10. The simple fact that you dont show any kind of favoritism, shows that you go by the numbers, not what others tell you. For that, I applaud you. Happy thanksgiving pal.

  11. Do you think that some of the AAA companies are starting their ball rollback, and are sacrificing spin for distance, and then distance is even not what it should be? I hear the rollback is real…

  12. Have you thought about bringing other golfers with different swing speeds to test certain balls? Bring a +70 year old guy with a slow swing speed that knows the game. I'd like to see the data, for instance, on a Duo Soft. Im sure someone would volunteer.

  13. Love the top 100 already can’t wait for 80-90. Kind of suprised to see the straightfli so far down the list but happy to see the avx and duo soft down there.

  14. I’ve literally said the exact same thing about the those medium tier balls. It feels like for the big brands they want you to play their cheap version or expensive. They don’t want their medium tier balls to be good so people will spend the exact twenty dollars on the more expensive balls

  15. Happy Thanksgiving!!! Not surprised by any of these . Played the ERC and still have some . Feels good and plays ok at my swing speed. But big list of balls I like better. Probably use them up in spring cool weather

  16. I have been saying the same about budget tour balls. It makes too much sense to push for the tour instead

  17. Great show Nick, some surprises "but it is what it is". Don't like the AVX either but do like the Straightfli. Can't wait for the rest of the list, maybe one of the balls that I play will be on the list (probably not)

  18. Thanks for releasing this. I'm going to need to buy a ton of golf balls for next year so I need the rankings ASAP.
