The BEST WOODS In Golf For EVERY GOLFER In 2025!
As we come to the end of 2025, our eyes draw to the best products of the year. Today we’re talking the best fairway woods of the year and we’re SGT with Jordan. Jordan, how you doing, mate? Very well, James. How are you, Jordan? I’ve been here quite a few times with both yourself and Lawrence. It’s a fantastic operation. I absolutely love coming down here. Today, we’re going to discuss the some of the best fairway woods that you guys have been fitting because you guys have fit, I imagine, hundreds, if not thousands of golfers this year. It’s been quite a busy year for you guys. But what are some of the best clubs you’ve seen kind of an all round basis for the guys watching at home? Because you actually might find these clubs with the new stuff coming out a little bit cheaper next year. So they might be kind of getting ahead of of the game here. But also I want to talk about shafts because if you if pans around here, this is like a shaft emporium. It’s like Willy Wonker’s chocolate factory of golf shafts. And realistically, what do you see when it comes to shaft fitting? How important is it? And what are some of the best shafts that you’ve seen in Fairway Woods this year? Perfect. I mean, shaft fitting light is massively important. We always talk about it being the timing device. Yeah. When you’re here. So, it’s, you know, when you get the shaft right, it just feels easier for you to hit the middle, hit it straighter, hit it further. That could be based on weight, flex, or how the shaft profile, all things length is also massively important, especially in fairway woods. That’s something that we we might come to a little bit later. Um, things that have been really impressive for us, like just to shout out a range that’s been really good. We’ve we’ve done really well with the Acra GX range. Funny enough, so we just did a Driver video and that’s the shaft that Lawrence fitted me into with driver this year. So, I mean, it’s at a great price point for us. It it performs really, really well. Again, I don’t want to discredit anything else. Like, it’s always going to be what works for the individual. That’s always the important thing. Could have someone come in here, actually. That’s one of the things I absolutely love about coming here because it’s not just, oh, the TPT shaft is the best shaft of the year, so let’s put that in and then you can be on your way. It’s right, let’s test everything. If that’s best, we’ll tell you that. If it’s not and something else works, then we’ll tell you that as But yeah, I said that the GX has been a definitely a noticeable noticeable standout this year. Okay, very good. Right, so when it comes to the best fairway woods of the year, I think fairway woods are an interesting topic because three to four to five years ago, we would just be talking 3-wood. The best threewood of the year is this. If you want a fivewood, probably get a matching one and again be on your way. But we’ve got some fairywoods here. I’ll let you go and grab. We don’t want to show them all off just at the moment, but what’s the first one of your kind of top three? I know we actually have a bit of a Halo product we’re going to discuss at the end as well. So really, we’ve got four clubs, so make sure you stay tuned, guys. But what do you think are the best three foss of the year? Get in the comments below and let us know, but I’ll uh I’ll leave it to you. What’s the Again, kind of going on to what you’ve just said about threewoods. I haven’t actually picked three woods for this. So, I’ve actually picked two forwards. Yeah. And a sevenwood. Wow. Right. But we’ll not show them over there, Bob, because we’re going to ruin the video for people, aren’t we? See what I’m trying to do here? I’m trying to keep suspense going, Bob. You’re like that like you with the new house. Like, is he on your drive? Is he off you drive? Bobby’s got a new neighbor. He keeps parking on his drive. He’s not in the house yet. How annoyed are you? So, just to start us off, starting off with the Ping G440 Max. Okay. Again, obviously in the forward this year, Ping have been quite interesting. What I really like about this product or one of the things in particular is that they’ve they’ve sort of separated out the lofts a little bit more. So, traditionally, I’ve always thought of a 3-wood at 15°, your fivewood at a roughly 18, and a seven would at roughly 21. Ping have then bought out a fourwood at 17 and a fivewood at 19. So it just allows for a little bit better gapping as people move throughout the bag. We can really fine-tune things. And of course you have the adjustable loft leave on there as well. So you could really fine tune that. Again, like you can get face angle sitting in particular areas where people like and really fine. I’ve not hit the fourwood actually. I have hit the 3-wood and I also hit what’s the really expensive version? Is it the titanium? Yes, you’ve got the the LST model. The LST and that like that was that was good, but I felt like for the price it was a little bit like we don’t do many of them, but as you said it it is it’s a very good performing fairway wood for sure. Right, it’s lovely to look down at the head. And I do think that carbon crown looks really nice. Little bit of a low launch on the first one, but much better strike, James. Yeah, it was touch Healey actually, and it’s launched a little bit low, but felt nice. Again, I do feel like Ping have been one of those brands this year that have really, really done well with the wood range. I do feel like they’re a little bit lost at the moment with the irons personally. I feel like the drivers fantastic, the fairwoods are fantastic. Hence why both of them are in in our top three, but then also maybe when we talk about the hybrids a little bit later on. That’s the one. Yeah, that felt nice. That was a better strike. 17 degree. I wouldn’t even I wouldn’t really think about that too much. But again, I’m not necessarily saying this is the best thing for you. I think, you know, if we’re sat here in a in a fitting environment, I’m looking at that. You know, we we’ve just seen you spin that one just under 5,000. Like, you probably don’t need that much loft in a fairway wood. But again, for the masses, you got a lot of people that are struggling to get that fairway wood launching to get the carry distance. That’s where I think this, you know, these clubs on the whole been really, really good. One thing be really interesting, we can use this shaft maybe going through the rest. We can just see where we are. But I’m just going to pop you in a slightly shorter shorter shaft there. So, again, everything exactly the same in terms of in terms of the product and just see how that feels to you. Obviously trying to just keep the ball in play, aren’t we? A little bit. And again, for people who come for a fitting here at SGT, lots of different options. You can see each head has its well has the same fitting, doesn’t it? And then you have the same fittings on the shaft. So you can pretty much try anything in any head, which is a really nice way to to go about it. Not seen a point where we would do this, but you want to put a sevenwood into a driver, like sevenwood shaft into a driver. We could fit it. Again, I’ve not seen anyone where that’s going to work. Dennis did that. He did it by might have been a fivewood, but he did it by mistake in his driver. He ended up keeping it in all year because he just kept hitting fairways with it. Fair enough. Maybe maybe I’ll He did lose a bit of distance, but he was still knocking it past Bob, which most people do anyway, but we’ll uh Hey, there’s a proper one there, Bob, but you want to get that in your pockets. It’s never marked up that. Right. So, things to expect here, maybe a little bit lower launch, lower club speed. That would be the expectations. and then we’ll see what happens. This feels really, really nice here. Oh, look at that. So, now I guess we’d be fitting on the basis of can I get a club to go a certain distance rather than it’s going to Yeah, that’s really that’s really nice that isn’t it? It’s quite similar numbers. You can see the ball speed just a little bit lower with a little bit Don’t know if that was less club head speed or just maybe not quite as squared up quite as well. Yeah. Um, so from the one before you were at 100 mph, that one dropped down to 98. So again, definitely a drop off in the club headed speed. I do like that idea, you know. It’s just being able to try it, right? Yeah. Thought there. Yeah. 240. There we go. Right. So, move on from the ping. There’s a couple of different brands here as well, guys. Comment below if ping’s in there. What other brand do you think’s in there for the best fairway woods of the year? I just think again on that one, the thing that’s been massively impressed with this has just been it misit performance. It’s been quite easy to get the ball launching and it’s just mis hits have been fantastic. Right. Very, very good. So, moving on to I I can see what it is and I agree with this because I think this has been one of the clubs that has been stand out in the fairway wood range. Have you guys fitted a lot of a lot of these? Done loads of these. So, obviously we’re now moving on to the Qi35. Specifically, the core model’s been the one that has been fantastic for us. Yeah, both the Tour and the Max model have both done what they say on the tin. So, we’ve seen the Max be a little bit more forgiving, spin a little bit more, launch it a little bit higher, and then that tour model’s got a load of adjustability to it, so you can really get it to do what you want. Again, that’s the more expensive version as well for Exactly. Now, again, the core’s just been fantastic all round. It launches it nice and high, doesn’t create too much spin, so you get a good amount of distance from it. And again, similar to the Ping, it’s been very good on misfits. One of the things I love about or two of the things I love about this, not only do we have the through slot speed pocket here, so that helps you generate or maintain ball speed on low phase hits, but we have that weight in a little bit further forward in the head. So even for like a high launch model, it it still has that weight in it a little bit further forward. So you’re not necessarily losing it up in the air with spin, are you? Yeah. And it’s again another sort of thing of interest between this and the Ping is actually being able to hit it off the grass as well a little bit more than just the mat. You kind of see the different sole shapes and certain times people will just pick one off better off the turf as well. Yeah, they’re very very different to one another. I like that infinity crown as well, you know, with the I think lookswise it’s it’s been a it’s been one of the golf clubs you give to people you you know ask a question how does that look and people turn around the green looks incredible in it as well to be fair but right so this is a a high launch 16 and a half degrees so let’s go now that was a towy one and that stayed so stable in the air quite you know I just love my job I think more than anything I keep saying I enjoyed that but 230 yards with a shot like that. Very, very happy. Very good. One of the things that you might get as well is a little bit more versatility. So, having obviously all the technology in here, having that forward weight, we could I can see there that looking at the optimum numbers, if I can get that launch angle down a bit, I’m going to generate a little bit more, aren’t I? So, we can still generate a bit. Got it down. A bit versatility on that one, James. Versatility is absolutely fantastic on that one. Nice. Yeah. So, there’s certain clubs you can’t do that with, you know, like if we are thinking about trying to get a forgiving golf club. It’s nice. It seemed a little easier for you just to actually square the face naturally as well for yourself compared to the ping. Probably that weight. I’m a huge fan of like I I used this for quite a long time and really really enjoyed it. I think I tried to use a tall head probably a bit too long which a lot of people do, but yeah, it’s a really really nice middle ground. So, thank you very much. Right, what do we have left in this bag? Remember guys, we’ve got another one to come which might shock you a little bit. Then we also have what I think is the best allrounder and I know you think that as well and you guys probably think at home. What do you reckon that is? Comment below and let us know. Right, what do we have Jordan? That’s got the Wilson Diner Power. Okay. Got this one in a sevenwood cuz this is a place where we found this to be amazing. It’s launched it high, but it’s just been super super consistent. Just, you know, a little bit lower on that terms of price point as well compared to some of the other models. It’s been fantastic. Do you find that certain fairway woods do perform better in different lofts? I think specifically what you’ll find is that, you know, you might get a fairway wood that’s really quick, for example. And with that, it might be really good in a 3-wood because it helps get the distance. Yeah. But then you might find, you know, into a sevenwood, you just want something that’s consistent. you don’t necessarily care about necessarily how far it’s going at that point. It’s more just are you hitting greens? Do you know where it’s going to go? So in that reason, you know, yes and no. I know it sounds a bit weird, but it’s just more they have they do. So interestingly, would you have people So we’ve just looked at the tailor made three or that’s gone 260 yards for me. That’s almost a driver number if I correctly. Have you had many people who’ve come for a fairway wood fitting and left with maybe a tailor- made three or a Wilson 7 would or something like that? Totally 100%. And as I said, it might just be that in those higher lofted clubs, they either need a little bit more, a little bit less spin comparative, or a different head shape just to get maximum performance. So here with the seven, if we can get like a 200 yard, just a nice high 200 yard shot like that. I mean, you see the height on that compared to straight away, it’s it’s it’s a totally different club, isn’t it? Which obviously it is. But then if I’m trying to hit just hit 202 and I’m trying to hit a 200 yard shot. So you can see imposs who? Gazer. Oh, has he? The man. The myth. He’s got the seven wood. Has he? I might have to put it in the bag now if he’s got one. And then we can also move this down a little bit in the stands and still hit that kind of lower shot if you want to, can’t you? 100%. I think a lot of people do imagine sevenwood is just to stand there and hit it high club. And it is very good at that. Yeah. But you know, you can still alter your swing to change the ball flight if you need to. Like that. You know, you’ve just hit the one before about 110 feet in the air. Yeah, that one you’ve dropped the feet down down to 90 feet. It’s, you know, if you were worried about the wind or something along those lines, that still would have stopped as well. It would have been 10 yards as well. So, interestingly enough, at the launch of these, we were lucky enough to meet Paul Lori and play well played 18 holes with Paul Lori, which was one of the best experiences ever, but he was throwing balls down in the rough with this sevenwood and he was hitting them. They were coming off like he was in the fairway. Yeah, it was just absolutely ridiculous. So, I’m going to hit it one more with this. And whenever I want to hit one more with a club, I do feel like that’s part of the battle because I’m actually really really enjoying this. Like you said, it’s a slightly lower price point as well. So, do you want a high one or a low one? I say let’s go a high one. You’ve hit one at 110 ft. Let’s see if we go 130. Let’s see if we can really split it up. Oh, that was 140. That was high. Now, is that if that’s still 200 yards, then that’s that’s at 205 120 in the air. Exactly the same. So, 203 carry. So, like you said, the con I’m really pleased I’ve done that because you’ve mentioned about the consistency and we’ve just hit three shots all very different trajectories the same distance. Yeah. And again, I don’t think you’ve piped every single one of them like know the well, but you know what I mean? It’s not like they were all back now. It’s fine. Right. They’re the top three fairway woods. Hard to disagree with them. Again, these are what you guys have found in fittings as well. So, it’s really interesting not only to have my personal opinion, which is obviously very subjective, but also these guys have been in the trenches. They’ve been fitting clubs all year, thousands of fittings, and it’s really interesting. Now, this next club is one of my favorite clubs of the year. I think the whole genre of this club would be a game changer for so many people. We are talking fairway woods, and that’s the reason why we’re talking about the titleist GT280 because it acts as both, doesn’t it? Like this is christened a mini driver, but is it really? It’s a smaller head than a a generic mini drive, isn’t it? I think there’s quite a few people with this model in particular where they’ve come in for a fairway wood fitting. Yeah. You kind of sat there going I think how they’re talking about how they use it use it a lot off the tea and it seems like this would be a really good concept for them. They put it down and it it doesn’t look too big to the fact that it still feels like you could put it in there and you can get it working quite well off the deck. And the thing that’s great, again, just coming back to our fitting system, is that this just fits a three-wood shaft. Yeah, comes in at the 43 and a half inches that would be sort of the standard length of that. So, you know, we can sit there, we can put our shafts in here. And again, that would be the same with other people with mini drivers they’ve got. You know, if they want to come in and they wanted just to get fitted for a shaft in there, we can do our best to get as much out of a mini driver as well as possible just using our sort of standard 3-wood product. It was a really interesting one as well. So, the relationship we have with the brands, obviously, we get the product to test and when Titus released this, it was slightly later on than the drivers. So they said, “Oh, James, we’ll send you the head, whatever shaft you got fitted for only 3wood, just use that.” Because we couldn’t get back down to woven to do the fitting. And it was a really interesting one because they thought, “Oh, well that’s a bit like just put your 3-wood in it.” But actually now we think about it more and more. It probably makes a lot of sense. Also having the adjustable weights here, I think it’s huge because obviously if you are using it primarily as a fairway wood, you might have the heavy weight in the back that shifts CG back. It enhances the MOI, but if you’re using it off the tea, you might want the heavy weight forward just to bring that spin down a little bit. And it also works the opposite way where if you’ve got someone who’s quite good with a fairway wood, they they might find that the mini driver gets a little bit too close to driver. Might not be as far, but it sometimes creeps up a little bit close. And you know, if I’m using a mini driver off the tea, it might be there’s a, you know, a a bunker I don’t want to hit it to or get to. And actually having a mini driver that makes sure it stays shorter drive is really important. I don’t think I can hit it better than that. No, I don’t think And that didn’t look that different to the forwards we were hitting in terms of the launch that you’ve got off of it. You struck it really, really well. Just ever so slightly toes side, but lovely. The really funny thing there is, so the depth of this face, I’m thinking, oh, it might just be a little bit kind of deep for off, especially off the map potentially. But I think I don’t think I’m going to hit it much better than that, to be honest. We could try and drop the spin rate a little bit, but but again, that’s also off the deck, right? Like if we just stick this on a T, what you’ll probably find is you’re then naturally going to strike that a little higher in the head, we would hope. Yeah. And then that should drop that spin itself, you know? And then the thing I like from that is that the sevenwood we were just hitting was 110 ft. Yeah. You’ve just hit the mini driver off the deck because of the extra ball speed that we’ve got that’s actually carried it to that same sort of height and trajectory. So again, that even going into a par five for you. Yeah. You still stop that at a 46 land angle. Like it’s not like it’s chasing on you’ve got no chance. And that’s where I found this to be a really versatile golf club. Oh yeah, that that is absolutely Lawrence was coming to S. You heard the strike on that one before. He’s got to have a look. I couldn’t stop myself from coming in. I really really enjoyed that. I’m going to hit one more again cuz I’m enjoying myself. And just kind of what we were saying there, James, like shot before 4,200 spin. You tee it up, you hit it a bit, not actually too much higher in the head, but a little bit higher in the head. And then we see that at 38. So we do see that spin drop a little bit. So that would be what we would expect uh sort of between the tea and off the deck. That’s nicer. That was towy as well. But that’s a shot that I quite quite enjoy. Ball speed 151 out the toe. That’s not too bad. Again, you can see with the tracer there on top tracer just sorry on track man just how straight that one there. That one there’s gone. But you know at 250 it’s not it’s not getting too close to your driver. There’d be reason why you’d be hitting that driver%. Yeah guys they are the best fairwoods with a little bit of a brucy bonus of 2025. George, thank you so much for your time. Guys, if you want to book in with the guys at SGT Lawrence is in there. Is that Lawrence? How you all right? Lawrence is very very busy. But apart from that, we’ll see you all at the same time tomorrow. Goodbye.

I purchased the Wilson Dynapower 3 wood this year it’s such a good club
Everyone it seems has put a 7 wood and a mini driver in their bag over the past year. I’m a senior golfer and have put all hybrids in my bag. Eleven makes great hybrids for the money. They could prolong my playing golf for a couple more years!
GT2 5 wood for me 👍🏻
5 handicap. I play Qi35 core 3 wood at standard 15* of loft. The stock shaft was 43.25” long – I hit the club poorly and saw all parts of the face.
Fitted shaft is 1” shorter, heavier in weight, stiffer, and the TSS weight was changed from 6 to 12 grams.
Center face contact is now routine. and misses are slightly off center.
Most importantly, I don’t lose any distance or ball speed due to better smash/efficiency.
Get fitted and don’t hesitate to play the woods shorter than stock.
Tried a 7 wood gone back to 5 wood g430 much better play a windy course 7 wood was far too high
The man the myth fitted me for a 7 wood, converted from hybrids to 5,7 & 9 woods, they’re confidence inspiring for us average golfers! Qi35’s are awesome.
The question of course is how many can you find in lefty. The struggle is real
Great video James
Dude everyday ur coming with new brands and try to sell stuff
Other than my putter the only non-DTC club in my bag is the 2025 cobra adapt 7 wood. I’m a senior golfer and found this the most consistent for my post drive dilemmas. You and Chris are my “go to” you tube guys.
Callaway elyte triple 💎, rocket and very high ball flight,15 degree
James, having been off golf for 4 years+ with two serious illnesses, I lost 20% of my distance.
I went to Laurence at SGGT and splashed out in a new bag of clubs. Obviously starting afresh it wasn’t inexpensive but wow. I gained most of my distance back and ALL of my fun. Thank you. This meant everything to me.
Cobra woods and hybrids I can just swing and it goes where I want them too, but I have a high swing speed and heavier x-stiff shafts
