Two-time major winner Bryson DeChambeau’s LIV Golf and social media efforts don’t earn him points in the Official World Golf Rankings, but he still is ranked 25th in the world despite playing just nine official ranking events over the past two years.

The YouTube and TikTok star has won two U.S. Opens and was once the fourth best player in the world, but joined LIV Golf in June 2022, and the Saudi-backed circuit is still fighting to be a part of the OWGR.

DeChambeau has played in just five ranking events in 2025, including the International Series India where he earned a second place finish, the Masters, where he tied for fifth, and the PGA Championship, where he tied for second.

DeChambeau had been consistently in the top-10 before joining LIV, but has fallen since due to his schedule and lack of official ranking events.

Earlier in the year, DeChambeau noted that the LIV application for official points will be critical, and noted the process is taking longer than expected.

“We’re okay with that,” DeChambeau said. “We’re commercializing. We’ve got some good partners aboard with us now.”

After the additions of Tyrrell Hatton and Jon Rahm in 2023, LIV hasn’t made any more jaw-dropping moves. Since new CEO Scott O’Neill’s hiring, he has been committed to the growth of LIV and has been trying to make it as ‘normal’ as possible.

“LIV Golf is committed to working together with the Official World Golf Ranking and its board to ensure the very best players are competing in the game’s most prestigious events,” O’Neill said in a statement.

“We are confident our application addresses the outstanding questions that exist to support a more global, all-encompassing, and accurate ranking system. We are hopeful the review and approval process can progress ahead of the 2026 major season.”

LIV’s initial application was denied in 2023, and they have just recently applied a second time.

“I don’t know, do you guys think we should get points? I would say that we’ve got some pretty good players over there [in LIV],” DeChambeau said. “Going through the right process is important, and I think Scott and all of us are looking forward to going through that process and getting it done the right way. We’re excited for that.”

Regardless of if the application is approved, DeChambeau is the only player in the world who has played in under 10 events and is in the top-160. By comparison, Tommy Fleetwood, Rory McIlroy and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler have all played in over 40 events.

“I think it’s big for us to have these players that are just jumping onboard still collect points. They are deserving of it. They’re playing some incredible golf every week, and I think having a system in place for us as players would benefit the ecosystem of the game tremendously, especially for fans.”
