Previewing Tasmania’s newest golfing gem, 7 Mile Beach, ahead of its official opening—and it’s every bit as spectacular as you’ve heard.
I was fortunate enough to get a sneak preview of the Mike Clayton and Mike DeVries-designed 7 Mile Beach Golf Course last week as part of the Golf Australia Magazine and Australian Golf Passport podcast course rankings panels—and wow, this place is special.
Just 25 minutes from Hobart, the full 18 holes officially opens on December 4, but with all 18 holes now in play, it’s already clear this layout will be one of Australia’s most talked-about destinations.
The highlights are unforgettable: the dramatic skyline par-3 second hole, where the green melts into the horizon; the downhill par-4 fifth, offering a breathtaking view back to the water; and the eighth hole, featuring two separate greens for a strategic twist that will keep you guessing right from the tee shot.
Combine these with the raw beauty of Tasmania’s coastline, and you’ve got a course destined for the top of the rankings.
Here’s a taste of what’s coming—check out the photos below and start planning your trip. Tee times are available to book via the 7 Mile Beach website.
