This video features an in-depth comparison of a 9-wood vs 5-hybrid vs 4-iron. For 2nd Swing master club fitters, this dilemma is a common one for many golfers at the top of the iron set. High-lofted fairway woods and hybrids, like a 9-wood or a 5-hybrid, continue to gain popularity because of the higher launch and spin rates they generate. But what are the exact differences between them?

If you are not currently playing a high lofted wood, you might be missing out on some serious performance. Okay. So, we tested a ninewood, a five hybrid, and a four iron all against each other head-to-head today. Yeah. And uh Em hit some shots for us today. It was a head-to-head test, five good swings with each club, and then we actually narrowed it down to the best four out of those five. And wow, did we see some pretty significant changes there from the spin rate to the height to the launch. Ultimately, we saw the Ninewood was launching at 13 degrees only, but the spin and the height was the highest of all four clubs. Uh, we also gained six yards of carry with the 9wood. And again, these were all at the same loft at 24 degrees. Caveat of 24 and a half with the hybrid. Um, some very significant differences also on the dispersion. Look how small that dispersion is with four of the five shots that Emma hit with a ninewood. So, Emma, what were your main takeaways from this test? This is pretty fascinating. Honestly, my takeaway is that I am truthfully mind blown. As someone that I always carried a 4iron when I was competing a lot and whenever I thought fairway wood, I grew up thinking that fairway wood is when you wanted to hit a shot as far as you could that wasn’t your driver. So, I had 3-wood in the bag and when I wanted to hit something as far as possible and off the fairway, off the ground, that’s what I was hitting. So, putting a 9inewood in my hands today, I set it down and I was like, I don’t know about all this. But I could not believe how good it felt. And then after just one shot, I was like, “Wow, maybe this should go in the bag.” Yeah, some tremendous performance differences here. And it could help a lot of golfers like you.
