This is one of the first steps to converting a standard putter into an armlock or counter balance
.
The spider zt doesn’t offer an armlock version so I’ve decided to build one for myself but I will be recording the process for YouTube which can be used for most standard model putters
.
The noticeable differences with an armlock to a standard model are the shaft length, grip length and overall weight with the lie angle usually staying the same and the loft sometimes varying by a degree or 2
.
The heads are usually about 100 gram heavier to make up for the additional length so finding ways to add 100 gram can be quite tricky
.
With certain models like this spider zt u can take off parts that have quite an open space inside and then from there you have a few options on how to add more weight
.
I have 3 different weights coming for the weight ports but they max out at 16 gram each so an additional 50 ish grams will still be needed
.
It’s worth noting also that changing the weight on a zero torque putter will change its balance and won’t be as low torque as it was although it can still be nicely weighted and I usually see them still balance pretty well in a DIY ‘torque finder’ or ‘revealer’
