Stop coming over the top! Easy golf drill to fix your swing
If you’re the golfer who struggles with the horrible over the top move, this drill is for you. Take the club and place it across your shoulders like so, with the club sticking out of your trail side. Get into a set position and make sure the face is matching your spine angle. Next, you’re going to imagine a golf ball floating in midair above the ball on the ground. And very simply, I want you to try and hit that ball with the club sticking out of your trail shoulder. What you’re going to find is as you do this, you’ll be rotating and tilting to your trail side, which is a huge part of keeping the club on plane. So once again, turning and tilting to the trail side help us bring the club more on plane and get away from that horrible over the top movement. As always, start off with slow practice swings, dialing in the movement and what it feels like to you, and then progressing on to fuller swings, eventually ramping it up to full speed.
