Kai Trump made her LPGA debut at The Annika in Florida this Thursday. Unfortunately for the youngster, it didn’t go as well as some fans hoped it would.
The granddaughter of President Donald Trump shot a 13-over 83 in the opening round. She bogeyed the first four holes before somewhat settling in. When the dust settled though, she found herself last on the leaderboard. Benedetta Moresco, a 24-year-old from Italy, is the closest player to her in the field at 9-over 79.

“I was definitely more nervous than I expected, but I thought I hit a lot of great shots out there,” Trump said after her opening round. “I hit a lot of good shots just to the wrong spots.”

Although she’s at the bottom of the leaderboard, Trump ultimately views The Annika as a valuable learning experience.
“It was pretty cool because I know I hit it far, but kind of playing with the best players in the world and being literally right there or even outdriving on some of the holes, it felt pretty good,” she continued, via Fox News Digital. “Felt like my game is in a good spot, and especially only being a senior in high school.”

Beth Ann Nichols of Golfweek applauded Trump for being “delightful” during her post-round media availability Thursday. That
Fans siding with Kai Trump.
Countless fans praised the 18-year-old golfer for handling the media like a pro even after a tough round.
“An 83 on a Donald Ross-designed course is nothing to be ashamed about for any 18-year-old player,” one fan said.
“If Kai wants to put in the work, her game will improve. She has a powerful, repetitive swing , a great attitude—an 18 year old with unlimited potential,” a second fan commented.

“She’s all class and she’s only 18,” another fan declared.
Will Trump have a future in the LPGA? We’re not sure, but there’s no doubt she knows how to handle the media.
